Best laid plans……
Just received a phone call from Lawrence Nesselrodt, who informed me that the Saturday forecast for Beckley is not our friend.
Normally, the change of a day here or there is nothing but a thing. The difference here is this is the BIGGEST thing we do all year. How many puzzle pieces can be safely moved in order to maintain 🙏 the level of excellence we are seeking.
JV Softball results just came in, so let’s see 👀 what we can do there….
The Schedule :
Midway University will come to town hungry as the four through eight spots are within two games of each other, and only six teams advance to the post-season tournament in Chillicothe, Ohio.
WVU-T plays for a chance to finish up the regular season with a winning record at home.
The two days will focus on the five young men who will be playing their final series in Golden Bear 🐻 uniforms, and they have represented the program well !
Dr Gary Templeton is watching 👀his Son Gabe at the plate.
The first pitch temp was 51° but the wind chill was much less. Add in the solid drizzle.
The other two Dads are here to watch Maddex Sims (#5) and Cole Brown (#3).
Baseball ⚾️ is a unique game, and the ties are truly special.
Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 3rd…
Fun story to tell later about the Templeton connection.
More to follow !!!
We hang a four spot in the top of the seventh, now lead 6-3. Need 9 more outs.
4:50 pm – headed to the bottom of the 8th, still cold 🥶, but still leading, 6-3!
5:10 – leading now 6-4, heading to the ninth
Next Stop ✋️ Laurel Fork !!!!
The new breakdown :
2:00 pm Game Time
1:55pm Plate Meeting
1:30pm IU Columbus Senior Ceremony
1:15pm Tech I/O
12:30pm Field Arrival
12:05pm Departure (could change)
12:00pm Load Vans
6:00am-10:00am Breakfast
The first thing to adjust to here is that the team has a six hour trip back home following the game. Fortunately, our student athletes can use Sunday as a bounce back day before returning to class on Monday morning.
The integrity of the game is what today is about. The six postseason spots have been decided in the River States Conference for the season, and both West Virginia Tech and IU – Columbus are on the outside looking in. The game today will have zero effect on the postseason, so it would be easy enough to just load up and head back to Beckley.
Integrity is a BIG part of what we do here at WVU-T, so we will do everything possible to get the game played and then head back to Beckley, then for me on to Laurel Fork.
Speaking 🔊 of 🏡, Casey Burcham and Vickey Ritchie are set to have BIG days, and we are hoping 🙏 for the best possible results for both.
Rain 🌧, Rain 🌧, go away, we have a baseball ⚾️ game to play !
The third member of the trio is Vickey Ritchie and our Special Olympics Basketball program as the venture into Shawn Montgomery’s world of Track and Field today !
Speaking of Track and Field – the next story will be the results from yesterday!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Have a Blessed Day 🙌 !
