Final weekend of the season and we head into Saturday morning still having a shot at going to Chillicothe for the River States Conference Tournament !!

Two of the three teams shown above will claim the final two spots in the RSC post season Baseball ⚾️ tournament.

Brescia University and Midway play a Saturday doubleheader and then a single game on Sunday.

WVU-T closes out the year with a twin bill versus #2 seed Indiana University – SE here in Beckley. Our Golden Bears 🐻 stayed alive with a thrilling 10th inning walkoff 7-6 victory on Friday that took six hours to play after a lengthy weather delay.

We hold the tiebreaker with Brescia but do not with Midway so we are BIG Midway fans this weekend !

We also have Senior Day ceremony and Family πŸ‘ͺ meal to get in besides the two ball games ⚾️.

10 young Men will play their final game at Tech tomorrow unless we can work some more magic !

The creation of our 17th edition of West Virginia Tech University Baseball ⚾️ Senior Day – step #1 is how many players have maxed out their Eligibility…This weekend we send off our latest group…

Here are the Photos πŸ“· of 10 of the potential members of our 17th group together. It’s been a treat to spend time around this group and on Saturday afternoon we will hold our ceremony for everyone that will be playing their final game in a Golden Bears 🐻 uniform.

We take a great deal of pride in our send-off each season and this year will be no different. We head into the weekend series with Indiana University – Southeast still mathematically alive in our bid for the final spot in the River States Conference Tournament. We also have to navigate the Weather forecast as has been the case most of the season.

As of right now, we are slated to play one on Friday and two on Saturday but that is subject to change as its the end of the regular season and the three game set needs to be completed.

Stay tuned, in regards to the weather forecast and to the number of Seniors who we will be saying our Goodbyes to on Saturday.

Gray, Camp and Aspinwall have each submitted their answers as has J.W Taylor ( not pictured). This group helped the Golden Bears make it to Ohio last season for the tournament and won a game before being eliminated. They hope to do the same this weekend by taking care of business.

It’s time to script the lead in now, something that is a privilege to do !

Year #17 – WVU-T
Mother πŸ‘© Nature

In a season full of shuffling the deck on our Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball ⚾️ schedule πŸ“…, its only fitting that we lose out on one more home date…

Not so much…

The good news is that I safely πŸ™ arrived in West Virginia head of our mid- week baseball game. The bad news is that we are in jeopardy of not getting the game played now.

During our 17 years together, Lawrence Nesselrodt and I have dealt with our fair share of postponed and canceled ball games but this season it has felt like every week.

This week is the final one of the regular season and we were set to host four games across three days. The cap to the week will be Senior Day on Saturday afternoon when IU – Southeast is in town.

We are still mathematically alive in regards to finishing in the Top Six which will earn us a trip up to Chilhowie, Ohio for the River States Conference Tournament on May 1-4.

We are 2 games behind both Midway and Brescia with three games remaining in league play. We need to catch one of the two Schools 🏫 and they are set to square off over the final weekend.

WVU-T holds the tiebreaker with Brescia but not Midway so our best hope is for Midway to sweep them. We welcome #2 IU – Southeast to town and we need to win Friday night to remain alive heading into the Saturday twin bill.

Finishing 6th gets the Golden Bears 🐻 invited to Ohio and then anything can happen.

In regards to getting a game in tomorrow, we would have to scare up an opponent who has an open date and would like to sneak in one more game.

There’s a long list of lost games from the season that would fill the bill, just not sure if there’s enough time to pull that off?

The original schedule πŸ“…

A fun count would be to see πŸ‘€ how many times we were able to play on the day and in the park scheduled before the season started.

Either way, there is still something to play for on Friday afternoon and that’s what it is all about ! Ohio or Bust !
