John 12:13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Three things at 3 pm create a unique situation, to say the least.

The decision to not use the plane tickets last night ( miles that were able to be redeposited ) to fly out to Sacramento for the Duke University Women’s Elite Eight game took it from being inside Golden 1 arena to missing the game all together.
This year, chasing the story about Kira Lawson and the team has been nothing short of a blast for us. The combination of believing in the sport, the coach, and the school in the manner that we do made it a fun few months. The fact that you can be a season ticket holder for the Ladies for less money π° than it cost to attend 1 Men’s Basketball game at Cameron Indoor still boggles my mind, but it is what it is.
Vickey Ritchie is a kind, kind π Soul and that is a non- disputable fact. Even after we were both at it from before Sun up and until the stroke of midnight, Coach is still going to open up the Gym at Hillsville Elementary School for practice today from 2-4 pm.
Not everyone in our group could travel and hold up to a 12 hour day like the one the group had yesterday going to and from Lexington. So, in order to not exclude anyone who wants to participate, practice will take place per the norm.
There’s no actual obligation to be at every practice or event that Vickey Ritchie is responsible for. it’s simply therapeutic for the heart. Our missions in life are so similar : to create an environment where people all feel that they matter equally. It’s not easy, but it is a mission statement that we are both chasing with everything that we have.
Yesterday was a BIG day for her, and being that we experienced that same day together last year, there are stories to tell, and I can’t wait to hear them.
That brings us to the third place to be at 3 pm.

Anthony Barnes is holding his annual end of the season gathering today on The Hill, and it happens to be in the exact same time slot as Duke – UCLA.
Even though I wasn’t in the gymnasium with them this season, I did everything that I could to support the program. This included watching every game but 2 and creating a game story for each contest along the way.
The room at the Church βͺοΈ will look different from years past as Kris Richardson, the Smoots, and many others have moved on since last year. That is how graduation works. I’m not really sure how the room will feel with a number of different faces, but I do know how much his program means to Coach Barnes.

One of two things will happen today out in California. We were in the Arena out in Vegas in late November when UCLA was coming off their lone loss to Texas the night before, and they beat us by 30 points. They could very well do it again, but I don’t think they can because we are way better than we were four months ago.
But I don’t think that we can make enough plays to move on to the Final Four in Phoenix next weekend. Know that if Duke wins π that PHX is going to happen.
So it will be hanging out with Vickey Ritchie until it’s time to do the same with Anthony Barnes. Then driving π back to Laurel Fork to watch the post game coverage and sleep π΄π€ as naps are truly my friend !

This now has become one of my favorite Photos πΈ and in part because of the two frames on the wall 𧱠in the background. Neat, Neat Lady, who is incredibly smart yet just a proud, proud Mother π© at the end of the day !

From Vickey Ritchie :
Well, we had an interesting day at VMI!
Our partners played outstanding. Both teams lost their first game, so we played each other for the second game, and of course, we made that one very, very successful. Everyoneβs scored, and everyone had a good time
More to follow later after both of us catch our breath.
Vickey will be back in the gym at Hillsville Elementary School tomorrow afternoon to make sure the ones who didn’t make the trip can still have some quality time !

Dakota Walls Racing will head back down to Sophia, North Carolina today to run at Caraway Speedway for the third time this season.
Varsity Boys and Girls Track and Field teams will compete on the campus of Emory and Henry in the Blue and Gold High School Invitational.
Middle School π« Track will also compete down in North Carolina in the Mighty Viking Middle School Invitational.

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Tammy Tobler mentioned to me at the Softball game last night that Trenton was not the only Cavalier competing in Virginia Beach this weekend. I would welcome π any information about the efforts of the other two Wrestlers that made the trip!

Vickey Ritchie and our Special Olympics Basketball π program is set to make its second consecutive trip up to the historic campus of Virginia Military πͺ Institute in Lexington !
Last year proved to be a fun experience for all involved, and there is no reason why it shouldn’t be the same in year two !
Lexington, Virginia Beach, Emory and Henry in the Commonwealth βοΈ Sophia and Danbury, North Carolina and Portsmouth, Ohio are the Pick Six…

On a personal note π, staying back to host Softball and the special evening for Hix Miller and his family, then later finishing up the Girls π§ Soccer game meant passing on our tickets π to the game out in Sacramento.
The fact that the Ladies won at the buzzer means we now have tickets π to the game on Sunday afternoon at 3pm / Noon versus #1 UCLA !!
Flight βοΈ leaves Greensboro at 8:41 pm. with 5pm. for a βοΈoff to make the decision. Kira Lawson has the Blue Devils humming right now, but the once beaten Bruins already own a victory over Duke from back in November, and it was by 30 points. On the upside, that was a very talented LSU team that Duke faced last night.
Fun decision to make later today, but either way, there are plenty of people to follow today, even if they are scattered around the East Coast !
Have a Blessed Day π !

A big weekend for Carroll County Special Olympics! 29 on the New River Trail for the first CCSO Walking Club of the year on Saturday, and 33 in the gym for todayβs basketball practice (βSpring Has Sprung!β)
Next Saturday, CCSO will travel to the VMI basketball tournament up in Lexington (and have a small practice on Sunday).
It’s great to see strong turnouts for both events !!
