Five quick questions for Skipper Lawrence Nesselrodt as we approach our 18th Opening Day at West Virginia Tech University !

5 solid questions provided by out Conference !

. (#1) Hope Springs Eternalโ€

 – for baseball enthusiasts a new season signifies the end of winter and the hope that spring is near. Our team will continue chasing after a championship that hasnโ€™t been won by a TECH Baseball team since 1947. Since โ€˜08 we have set a school record three times for most wins in a season (40 in โ€˜16), played for the championship in โ€˜17 and reached semi-finals in โ€˜15, โ€˜16 and โ€˜24.

2). We will be lead by the depth of our pitching staff. We return several quality arms from last yearโ€™s team and have added some outstanding guys that are going to make an immediate impact. Offensively, we are replacing seven starters and will need to be as scrappy bunch that have to โ€œdo the little things wellโ€.

3). Our guys excelled in every aspect during the fall semester. 8 weeks of Fall ball gave us a chance to evaluate the new guys, learn each other on and the field. Our team worked hard in the weight room, along with combined efforts in fundraising and community service activities. Our guys earned an exceptional 2.38 team GPA.

4).  The biggest objective of each year is to develop a team culture that exhibits a โ€œWill to Win, a respect for the game and a sense of identity.  This yearโ€™s group needs to play good defense, pitch well and execute situational hitting. If you do the little things-the big thing will happen!

5). Energy, Enthusiasm & Excitementโ€ฆ

These guys enjoy being around each other and Iโ€™m confident that fans are going to see a team that is having fun. We have an outstanding group of coaches who are passionate about the game and are great teachers. Our Goal is to Win Championships along with achieving a 3.0 GPA. That combination of good teachers & students can make great entertainment at the ballpark.

West Virginia Tech University Baseball is set to compete in the Clash of Conferences down in Tennessee once again this season ! February 6th and 7th are the dates and fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž that Mother Nature cooperates !

Home opener is set for February 21st in Beckley at Linda K Epling Stadium ๐ŸŸ..

Let’s call ๐Ÿ“ž this one : A little bit of this and a little bit of that as we prepare to say Goodbye to the Desert ๐Ÿœ for a week…

Tomorrow morning ๐ŸŒ„ we head to the most all over the place weather forecast in recent years.
Making sure we took full advantage of the 67ยฐ afternoon.

10:43 am Mountain โ›ฐ Time, we are scheduled to depart SGU Airport enroute to Greensboro, North Carolina

The Hill weather Forecast for the coming days. Thankfully we have Kris Richardson playing the Weatherman for us. Being that Kris will be put out about the snow โ„ as much as us ( he will have to go out and clear the roads for VDOT ), I feel comfortable with the information.

Three hikes ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ today and each one hit both goals ! Minimum goals of 60 minutes  and two miles…

Not everyday you see a sign for Bats. If offered up encouragement on the final leg of the third hike ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ!
While we would like to publicly say Thank You to Miami for representing the ACC up to this point, Indiana University winning tonight would be a made for Disney movie ๐ŸŽฅ…

The dates ๐Ÿ“… for the SoCon Women’s Basketball ๐Ÿ€ tournament…

The Basketball ๐Ÿ€ chase across the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ concluded with a game on ” The Farm ” at Stanford University !!!

Lin with the Opening Jump of Duke University Women’s Basketball game ๐Ÿ€ at Stanford University.

The Farm :

Marketing is the Love ๐Ÿ’˜ of my Life, especially in my later years and everything that Stanford University did today was designed to enhance the two hours spent inside their Maples ๐Ÿ Pavillion. Wow, did it work !!

The Band was highly entertaining, very colorful and not a single ounce of negativity directed at the visiting fans or players !!!

One of the two giveaway items today was a Stanford University Cardinal rally towel.

The court itself will forever be named in the honor of Coach Tara Vandervere, number two on the All-Time Wins list in Men’s / Women’s College Basketball ๐Ÿ€.

The crowd was both knowledgeable and loud which was impressive 10 fold when you factor in the San Francisco 49ers were beating the Philadelphia Eagles at the same time. The 49ers play their home games a stones throw from The Farm ๐Ÿšœ

They had a bonus offer from a local restaurant for a free Cheeseburger ๐Ÿ” if Duke missed consecutive free throws in the second half and thankfully the home fans went home hungry….

The Cal- ๐Ÿš†train dropped us off two miles from the Gym which created a beautiful hike ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ across the gorgeous Campus !

The day was highlighted by spending it with the Love ๐Ÿ’˜ of my Life and watchingย  ๐Ÿ‘€ a well played D1 College Basketball game. The fact that it was Kira Lawson and her Lady Blue Devils just iced the cake ๐ŸŽ‚

The next stop โœ‹ on the picture perfect day was a great dinner ๐Ÿฝ at the Blue Line Pizza in Burlingame

The Mascot was on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Tomorrow morning ๐ŸŒ„ we will head backย  to St.George by way of Los Angeles and will turn our Basketball attention to the young Ladies who play for Howard Mayo as the Lady Cavaliers host Cave Spring High School ๐Ÿซ on The Hill…

The Hill, the Fort, the Farm, the Swamp, Death Valley and for the Smoot Family we will add the Horseshoe. Michigan has The Big House and Duke plays in the Bull City. See, Marketing is FUN!!!
