Running Blog for Saturday : Getting to San Antonio by way of Virginia Milatary Institute ➕ keeping an eye on Beckley, West Virginia & Cedar Bluff, Virginia & checking in on yesterday’s Tennis 🎾 for Jabin Talley. Tammy Quesenberry ✔s in with Softball goodies too.

Vickey Ritchie received a special invitation from the folks running the event up in Lexington, Virginia and was honored to accept 🙏 on behalf of her Area 9 Special Olympics Basketball 🏀.

  Our final destination today is San Antonio, Texas for the Men’s Basketball Final Four but that can wait ✋just a bit.

  Lawrence Nesselrodt and our Golden Bears 🐻 are set to play a doubleheader in Beckley against Oakland City.

Macie Adkins and the Flying Eagles are set to host a doubleheader at Southwest Virginia Community College.

Jabin Talley competed for SWCC over in Bristol yesterday afternoon and we hope to track down those results soon.

Special Olympics began in 1968 – July 20th in Chicago, Illinois.

Currently 5,000,000 Athletes participate in 2025. 172 Countries… 100,000 events this year.

After the opening ceremony we marched across the historic campus to Cocke Hall and at 1pm our Area 9 Cavaliers took the court.

1:36 – Game #1 for the Cavaliers is in the books 📚 and they are now off until 3:50pm. Dr. David McPherson and D.J. Delp were the playing partners.

1:50 – our next team is the Sure Shots and they are now on the court with Zeke Hicks and Keaton as playing partners.

Up in Beckley, Oakland City leads WVU-T 12-1 in the sixth inning.

Over the decades I have built relationships with a number of Colleges and High Schools 🏫 across the Country. West Virginia Tech University, Appalachian State University and Duke University are three with actual connections and there’s another 50 or so that I keep in contact with through their Marketing Departments. It’s a great deal of fun to keep up with what other people are doing and then thinking about whether it would work elsewhere?

Grand Canyon University is located in Arizona and they are always creating special activities for their students and fan bases. They are hosting an event next Saturday (April 12th) that just makes me smile !

  600 straight Days matches the longest race 🏁 in a given Nascar season, the Coca Cola 600 down in Charlotte, North Carolina. Very proud of following through with my Main thought – Finish Everything that You Start !

  It’s been quite the ride and Thank You 🙏 to the diehards that came along from beginning to end of the run 🏃‍♂️!

Congratulations to Kara Lawson and her Duke University Women’s Basketball team as they advanced today to the Elite . Not sure how they will match up with Dawn Staley and the defending Champs on Sunday but they get to keep playing ! Kudos to the UNC Ladies for making it to the second weekend.

We will be heading up to Beckley here in a bit for our Home 🏡 doubleheader tomorrow but will be keeping an eye 👁 on the Inbox 📥 for anything new coming in.

  Years ago the Buffalo Bills 🐃 upgraded their logo with the main addition being a red arrow 🏹 showing movement.

The logic stuck with me all these years so here we are, the Yellow Sun 🌞 is still hanging out over the grassy Mountain ⛰ but hopefully it shows movement.
