After a short break to support both Vickey Ritchie and Casey Burcham, it’s back to Star 🌟 City for the conclusion of our coverage of the D3 College World Series

This journey started with three days of coverage ( Thursday, Friday, and Saturday ), and then we hit pause ⏸️ in order to take care of some folks back on The Hill.

Closing in on 1st Pitch ! Covering Carroll County versus Abingdon baseball ⚾️ at 6 pm…. Cavs fall just short, 4-2 but we made sure the Falcons earned it.

Today’s Good Guy 👦 Tip of the Cap goes to Patrick Smith ! One of our leaders / partners in our Special Olympics Basketball 🏀 family !

Both were fun writes ✍️ and now it’s back to the sport of Softball !

Both clubs plate 2 runs 🏃‍♀️ in the second inning

There was no doubt on the Linfield bomb to left field. It flirted with clearing the back wall at 300 feet.

Wildcats plate 1 in the top of the third, leading 3-2. [11:45]

Storm respond with one of their own in the bottom of the 3rd.

The amount of energy being generated by the crowd is impressive ! It’s not about how many people, it’s about how much heart.

It was fitting that we would need extra innings to decide this one ! Everything about this one was great for the sport !

Mount Union and Virginia Wesleyan University finish up tied for 7th in the nation.

  Six teams remain, and we pick things back Saturday at 11:00 am.

Day #2 of the D3 Softball College World Series in Salem !

Linfield plates two runs in the top of the 6th inning, and the teams enter the top of the 7th, tied at 2-2. Virginia Wesleyan University looks to keep playing.

Linfield takes a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning, and now the Marlins must score a run or head back home to Tidewater

VWU entered the field at 50 – 0 but dropped their first two games, both by 3-2 final scores. Great season, none the less.

Would it be possible to properly celebrate Kevin Burress Day without some Softball ? I think not, so stop #2 is the D3 World Series in Salem !

#8 seeded Rowan versus #1 seed and undefeated Virginia Wesleyan University in the opening game of a week long celebration of the sport of softball in the Roanoke Valley.

The Marlins have rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but their rally comes up short at 1:18

Yes, the D1 College World Series is getting underway out in Oklahoma City, and eight teams are set to battle for the crown 👑 but we have eight teams doing the same right here in the Roanoke Valley.

Game 1 is in the Books 📚 and the grounds crew is working hard to prepare the field for game #2, Redlands versus Linfield in the 4 versus 5 match-up.

The Marlins will have a long road back now, but the beauty of a double elimination event is that you get to keep playing after your first setback.

Abingdon High is the site for the Lady Cavaliers Girls 👧 Soccer game at 7:30. #3 versus #6
