Tomorrow afternoon I will have an opportunity to watch a Basketball π game in the only venue on the West Coast that I haven’t visited over the years. Maples π Pavillion is home to the Stanford University Cardinal and #2 All-Time winningest Coach in Women’s Basketball.
Tara VanDerveer is now retired and Geno recently moved into the top spot overall but the program is still in great shape and tough to beat at Maples. They are 9-1 in front of their home fans.
Today is a get to Palo Alto, California day but I get to keep plugging along and as always, look forward to seeing what Kristy Jones sends in on the Wrestling team !!
β Coach Mayo was kind enough to check-in with his thoughts on his game last night up in Dublin.

Tonight sets up as a Hoopsfest with six different games to keep up with. Two in person and four on-line. It will mean passing on the Old Miss – Miami Semi-final game but thankfully ESPN can fill me in on that afterwards.
Kira Lawson and Duke University Women’s Basketball π playing on the West Coast is exciting and we will get to be there on Sunday when they face Stanford University inside Maples π Pavillion !
Both local Women’s Basketball teams are playing at Home tonight so its Thunderbirds and Trailblazers time…
The game for Ervin and Furman is a key π one as the Paladins look to make a statement about their role in the conference race π.
Ryan Phillips and Anthony Barnes will be coaching up our Cavaliers in Stuart…
As soon as I saw the November schedule for Duke University Women’s Basketball π I immediately thought two things. First, I am so going to travel to the bizarre eight games and my second one was I hope we can go 4-4.
Paris, France π«π· was the starting point and from there it was The Greenbriar Resort (versus West Virginia ) β at Liberty University and University of South Florida. The team did sneak in two home games before heading to Las Vegas, joining Texas, UCLA & South Carolina in a Thanksgiving doubleheader.
After the stretch (3-5) it was home to host LSU. That loss dropped the team to 3-6 on the season and I wondered if Lawson had possibly damaged the team psyche by throwing them into the deep end of the pool ?
Paris was against #22 Baylor University
Fast Forward to today and Duke sits at 9-6 and one of four undefeated teams in the ACC !
First five victories were non – descript but this one came against an always tough Notre Dame team that entered the day ranked #18.
Womens Basketball π is alive and well, especially in the Atlantic Coast Conference !!!
