It’s time for the first pitch at Duke University ! 86Β° and Sunny 🌞 as the Blue Devils seek a return trip to Omaha after a 64 year wait… 12:06 – start time as the umpires yell Play Ball !!!

It’s been a minute since CWS…

Murray State University Racers are the home team today in Game 2 of the series.

Miller and Gracia hits back to back bombs πŸ’£ in the top of the first, giving Duke a 2-0 lead (12:15)

Racers get one back on a first pitch laser shot over the left field fence.

Bases loaded, no outs for Racers here in the 1st. Five runs πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ scored in first inning, 3-2 Racers

Top of 2nd – Duke gets a walk πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ but that’s it (12:39). Headed to bottom of 2nd

Racers add a 2-run homer in B2.

12:49 – MSU 5, Duke 2 – top of 3rd

Clark sends one to the 🌳Tops in Right field, now down 5-3. Off to the bottom of the 3rd now. Five Home Runs already.

Three innings in the books πŸ“š, still 5-3 (1:08)

No Luck for Duke in the top of the fourth inning. Blue Devils will change pitchers now for the first time.

Three straight Racers reach base, now 6-3 with no outs. 1 out double makes it 8-3 now. 10-3 after 4th…

Duke answers with their own five spot in the top of the 6th, trail 10-8.

The Racers raced around the bases in the bottom of the seventh, to the tune of 9 runs πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. Duke trying hard to preserve any quality arm for the winner πŸ† take all game tomorrow at this point.

3 and 1/2 hours after the first pitch, the Racers prevailed 19-9 in a good ole fashioned pitchers duel..

Duke University Baseball ⚾️ needs to win 2 more games to head out to Omaha for the College World Series and they have three opportunities on Campus to get ‘er done! Texas captures Softball Natty …

Saturday afternoon at 1pm versus Murray State and then Sunday afternoon at High Noon are the start times for the Blue Devils as they look to head to Omaha for the first time in over 60 years.

Duke has been playing Softball for less than a decade now but last season the team made the trip out to Oklahoma City for their World Series for the first time. Now the baseball team is in their fourth Super Regional but this time its taking place in Durham.

Clever

In would have been Awesome if the best 2 out of 3 could have been played over at neighboring Bulls Stadium 🏟 ( the house that Kevin Costner built) but instead it will take place on campus. The park should be busting at the seems over the weekend as both Duke and Murray State are trying hard to cap off a special season.

Tickets 🎟 were challenging to get but thankfully they added some extra bleachers at the last minute. So, once we finish up here in Lynchburg today it will be South to Durham !

Not sure if Duke will be able to punch its ticket out to Omaha or not but it should be a fun watch. If they don’t make it then kudos to Murray State πŸ‘ for having earned its first ever trip to the CWS.

Congratulations to the Texas Longhorn Softball program for capturing its 1st ever National Championship, defeating Texas Tech in a best of three finals.

We always have fun with the resemblance between Coach Alan Knight and Texas Coach Mike White.

The Atlantic Coast Conference is alive in well in Baseball ⚾️ in regards to the Super Regionals ( Final 16)..

Miami, Louisville, Florida State, University of North Carolina and Duke.

Jay Neal and the Strasburg Express just finished two productive days in the Valley Baseball ⚾️ League !

Strasburg versus Woodstock is one of those small time rivalries that it just doesn’t matter what the sport is when they get together. The two towns are separated by Toms Brook in Northern Shenandoah County and they would pack the house if they were playing Checkers against one another.

Strasburg has opened the season with three consecutive home games and won the last two, over Purcellville and Woodstock. Taking the first battle with the River Bandits has to feel like 1.5 victories !

Sunday June 22nd is our Sponsor Night at the Ballpark located off Exit 298 on I-81. The visitors that night πŸŒ™ will be the Harrisonburg Turks! Admission is Free that night so if you’re in the area, stop βœ‹ by and hear Jay Neal announce a ball game !
