The Road Ahead for Middle School 🏫 Basketball πŸ€ : Seven games remaining in December

As the book πŸ“– closes on our November to Remember tour, its time to look ahead and start making plans.

Monday, December 1st, we move into our Winter home 🏑 with the hopes of focusing on our health. We will be there until March 1st and here’s what we know for sure…..

Β  Creating stories for both of our Middle School Basketball πŸ€ teams has been enjoyable so there’s no reason to not complete the season with them.

This is possible because of Beth Bouldin, Kris Richardson, Darian Brown and the ability to get the scorebooks after each game. We are 16 of 16 x 2 with the goal being 23 of 23 x 2. 46 ball games inside of two months = bonkers.

#Hoops

Going forward in regards to the other activities that take place is dependent upon receiving information about said activities. Hoping for the Best for all things, teams and events πŸ™ over the next three months with the plan being to share any positivity that comes our way.

It’s time to board the ✈️✈✈️ to Denver now, being that November still has 3 Days left, there’s still time for one more adventure and this one will take place in the Hoosier state.

Joi Ogle, West Long, Howard Mayo and Anthony Barnes are all ready to guide our programs once the weekend is over. If we can be of any help to any of the four, we will be happy to help. This includes both of the Junior Varsity teams as well.

It’s time for the Thanksgiving Day edition of the Morning πŸŒ„ Brew and today it includes watching πŸ‘€ Hoops with a Basketball πŸ€ legend!

Morning πŸŒ„ Brew

Travis Osborne with his Bible Verse πŸ™ of the Day :
Psalm 100:4Β Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Howard Mayo with his Motovational Nugget for the Day : This actually comes by way of Marion Harris, proud Father πŸ‘¨ of one of the Lady Cavaliers mentioned
Very True !!

Today will be the final page in the November to Remember with the Duke University Women’s Basketball πŸ€ team. Their calendar month took them / us to Paris, France πŸ‡«πŸ‡·, Cameron Indoor Stadium (2), Lynchburg, Virginia βž• Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia βž• Tampa, Florida and finally, two games in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yesterday, during the Texas versus UCLA opener, I realized that we were sitting next to same Basketball Royalty πŸ€. Even at 62 years old, it still makes me smile to meet someone who loves the game of Women’s Hoops in the manner that I do.

Denise Curry holds the distinction of being the All-Time scoring leader in the history of UCLA Basketball ! Just over 3,100 points scored for the Bruins, a mark that has her atop the list for the University, Men or Women and by a wide margin.

Later today our Blue Devils will face her Bruins in the night πŸŒ™ cap of the two day event. When Curry isn’t watching the Lady Bruins, she’s helping Coach at Long Beach State University. Neat, Neat Lady πŸ‘© to say the least and I’m Thankful to have shared a conversation about a sport that is so relevant to both of us.

Being Thankful is the specialty of the Day and I will wrap this up by wishing πŸ™ everyone can spend today with someone who they πŸ’˜.

Many will watch football 🏈🏈🏈 of and on today but for Linda and I, we will be soaking up some more Womens Basketball πŸ€.

Have yourself a Blessed Thanksgiving Day !!!

Carroll County Middle School Boys πŸ‘¦put on a Shooting Clinic with Grant Reed playing the role of JJ Redick in the 49-16 victory at Rural Retreat Tuesday night πŸŒ™

7 x 3’s!!!!

Rural Retreat – Carroll County Middle School sank 11 shots from deep in their 49-16 road victory over Rural Retreat Tuesday night πŸŒ™.

Let that sink in – 11 3-pointers and then add that Grant Reed (21 points) made seven of the 11. Not sure if records are kept at the Middle School level but if they are, its a safe bet that 7 3’s in a game doesn’t happen very often.

Remington Millaway and Sam Johnson didn’t want to have Reed be the only red hot shooter. Both Cavaliers finished with 6 points on two deep balls.

“Been talking to our guys about being halfway through the season and how we should be peaking and I think tonight showed just that, ” said Head Coach Darian Brown. “We have eight games left and I think if we shoot the way we did tonight we have a chance to go 8-0. I knew it was only a matter of time Before shots started to fall. These kids work hard every day and show up in the mornings with Coach Reitzel to shoot before school. I think tonight showed that their hard work is paying off and if you continue to show up, it can’t be denied. I told these guys After the game that I have a lot to be thankful for but that this Thanksgiving I’m thankful I get to be around them. I couldn’t ask for a better group of kids or a better assistant coach by my side. We’re going in to Thanksgiving break with a record of 8 and 8. Although we will eat a lot of turkey the next few days, I promise we will be hungry and ready to go against Blacksburg next Tuesday.”

Gibson Barr dropped 8 points, the old fashioned way. scoring four 2 point baskets 🧺. Dane Austin added four points, Caleb Hill and Elijah Davis both added a bucket for the Cavaliers.

8-8 after playing non-stop βœ‹ Basketball πŸ€ across 28 days. There should be bonus points for surviving the hectic schedule!

Kris Richardson and his Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers head into their Thanksgiving break having won πŸ† 3 out of 4 after a 31-17 road victory at Rural Retreat

Rural Retreat – Zari Cushman led a second half offensive explosion for Carroll County Middle School 🏫 as the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers netted 23 points after the break in their 31-17 victory at Rural Retreat.

The victory ended a four week stretch that included playing 16 games in 28 days and allows the team to catch their breath before sitting around the Thanksgiving diner table with their families.

After taking an 8-6 lead into the second quarter, Richardson watched as his team went scoreless in the second six minutes, falling behind 10-8 at the break.

” Started off slow tonight. Down 10-8 at the half and all the things that we’ve done wrong all season show like a sore thumb,” said Richardson. ” After a passionate, heartfelt halftime speech, we decided to play. We outscored them 23-7 in the 2nd half. We only allowed 1 basket and the rest were FT’s. Much better intensity and aggressiveness in the 2nd half. Thanks for posting all that you do. I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving and the same for all of your loyal readers. Go Cavaliers!!”

One of the most important things about the 23 second half points is that Carroll County received production from eight different players. Cushman led the way with 13 points and Natalie Dalton added six more βž• another half dozen players added points before the final horn 🎷sounded.

Β Β  Raegan Combs (4 points ), Briley McGhee (2), Kadence Eades (2), Macy Lineberry (2), Jenna Bowman (1) and Maggie Branch (1) rounded out the scoring for Carroll County.
