Let’s call πŸ“ž this one : About Last Night πŸŒ™ and it included a tiny Rubber Duck ! More Volleyball 🏐 coverage….

Three young Ladies approached the scorers table late last night πŸŒ™ and presented me with the Duck pictured above ! Neat Moment…

I thought it was a very good week the kids, they’re playing hard and I’m very proud of them for that. Laiken Burnett finished with 38 Assist and 12 digs Brooke Webb had 15 kills Corrie delp had 9 kills and Ali Wright had 12 kills 12 digs and 5 aces Callie Harris had 14 Digs and 6 aces.

The paragraph above came from Coach Cindy Edwards earlier this morning πŸŒ„ and now the quote and the numbers will be blended in to the story for the Newspaper πŸ“°.

The young Lady πŸ‘© standing πŸ§β€β™‚οΈ next to Callie Harris celebrated her 80th Birthday πŸŽ‚ with us last Saturday afternoon !

Grandparents Night πŸŒ™

Knowing that we are hosting a Triple Header again on Monday, the thought would be for the Middle School 🏫 Volleyball to have Mother’s Night and the bigger Kiddos to have Kinfolk Night. This would include ALL relatives in the Gym that would like to stand next to their Lady Cavalier for introductions.

Still hoping πŸ™ to hear from Coach Heflin about her initial Home Court victory !

Time to finish up the story for Mr Worrell!

Let’s sneak in some Middle School 🏫 Volleyball 🏐 coverage as CCMS AD Kayla Nester creates three consecutive triple headers, allowing the little ones to play on the Big Stage !

Carroll County Middle School 🏫 Volleyball 🏐 opened our triple header tonight and first things first, I have to acknowledge the size of the crowd for the 4:30 first serve !

Brittany Kinney and Assistant Coach Kelly Holderfield had their roster of 17 eager young ladies ready to square up against the visiting Blacksburg Middle School Bruins.

For those of you that are new to this coverage, we will circle πŸ”΅ back to include any pictures πŸ“· that make their way here and will also have Coach Kinney share her thoughts when she can.

The scoreboard will show that the Bruins won πŸ† each of the three sets,25-12, 25-14 and 25-7. The third set was played to allow both Coaches the opportunity to guarantee that they can play as many people as possible.

While it makes for a long day, I am a HUGE fan of having all three teams playing under one roof. Great experience for the Middle School Kiddos !

Highlights for CCMS in the first set included consecutive Aces from Emma Keith, one from Laynee Burnett and a kill from Briley McGhee.

The Lady Cavaliers raced out to a 6-2 lead in the second set behind a Laken Lintecum Ace and a Mahala Holderfield Kill. The match was 9-8 before the Bruins pulled away for the 25-14 victory.

In the third and final set, ChloΓ© Hayes landed a winner before the visitors closed out the match. The roster includes five eighth graders and 12 seventh graders. They will return to the Big Gym next Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

Feel free to check back for thoughts from Coach Kinney πŸ™.

Pre-Match Homework !

From Head Coach :

We had a really good night. The scorebook shows a loss, but what many people in the gym tonight didn’t realize is that’s the best volleyball we’ve played all season.

I’ve got a young group, but they continue to impress us with their ability to pass-set-hit. Most of those girls on the floor are 7th graders.

Jerry pointed out several girls that stood out, but two other players that are constantly showing up and out are Hadley Painter and Zari Cushman.

I’m proud of their strength and courage tonight! We are getting better every single day!”

Welcome πŸ™ to Thursday September 18th, where it’s Volleyball 🏐 x 3 and we have a Kris Richardson sighting βž• Travis Osborne shares his Bible verse πŸ™Œ

Middle School Basketball πŸ€ tryouts are right around the corner !

Travis Osborne with his Bible verse of the Day :

Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

All 3 Squads are set to play VB tonight in the Home Gymnasium

The Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Volleyball 🏐 team are set to play at home on three of the next six nights πŸŒ™ before hitting the road for right at one month. Tonight is the rare night that the Middle School 🏫 team will open up the evening and there is no Football game being played outside at the same time.

When you add in the fact that its Floyd County High School coming to The Hill, there might be enough reason to consider opening up both sides of the Bleachers ???

2025-2026 Seniors

We wrap up the morning πŸŒ„ with Today’s Motovational Nugget from Coach Howard Mayo :

Have yourself a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ….

Mondays opening Act at Tommy Thompson Field included Corey Williams and Brandi Cochran Mitchell coaching together for Carroll County Middle School πŸ«

Alleghany High School doesn’t field a Girls JV Soccer team so there was a vacancy in the lead-in game to the Varsity match.

CCMS hosted Shawsville Middle School and the teams played to an exciting Nil-Nil πŸ‘”.

Both 30 minute halves were full of back and forth action 🎬 with the teams trading runs πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ at the goal.

The Middle School 🏫 team was the final squad to get to play a home game this season on The Hill !
