Back amongst the Cows πŸ„ and so much to share ! Let’s start with Middle School 🏫 Volleyball and their road victory over in Floyd County! I hear that they had an Excellent Bus 🚌 Driver in Jon Delp and they hit the ground running!!

Our Little Cavaliers β™₯

From Head Coach Brittany Kinney !!

Tonight at Floyd:

We had the most fun and quickest night of volleyball tonight! Our match started at 4:30 and was over by 5:05.

Our girls were HYPE tonight and we were so happy for them! We came ready to play and you could tell the girls wanted this win bad.

Match 1: Our serving was amazing during this set. We are always excited to win that coin toss and get to serve first. Tonight we had some great plays on the floor. Laken led us in serving with (8) and 6 of those were aces! Briley was next in serving (7) and (3) of those were aces!! She has came a long way this season and has become someone we really depend on. Emma was next in serving with (4) and Mahala was right behind her with (3). We didn’t have very many errors this match; which is very impressive! We won 25-9.

Match 2: We started off in serve receive; which sometimes gets us in our heads a little bit. We recovered way quicker this match though. Briley led us in serving (7) and had 2 aces. Mahala was right behind her with 6 serves and 3 aces. Emma had 4 amazing serves this game with NO errors! Lily also served great with NO errors! Laynee, Peyton, and Kaebry all finished with 2 serves as well. Won: 25-14.

Overall, we had an amazing team win today. I didn’t get to sub as much as I wanted and Floyd didn’t want to play that third β€œfun/developmental” match. We are so proud of these girls. I know we are sad that their season is coming to an end.

Alsoβ€”- please note that Kelly Holderfield is amazing. All of these detailed stats wouldn’t be possible without her. I’m forever grateful for her!!!

Thank You Coach and Congratulations πŸ‘

Here is the place where we catch up with the recent efforts of the Middle School Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers…………

MS vs. Patrick County : 9/25/25. We played our best night of volleyball tonight. It honestly made me tear up during the first match because the girls have been working so hard for myself and Coach Kelly. We are a middle school team who can pass, set, hit pretty consistently. Yes we make errors, yes sometimes we are shooting it across the gym BUT they are doing these things and most teams we are playing aren’t doing that yet. We’ve been working a TON on serving. Laynee Burnett stood out during this match getting the most serves (8) & did NOT miss a serve! Mahala had 8 hit attempts with 3 kills. Briley also had 4 hit attempts with 1 kill. Match 2 we started out just as strong. Briley and Emma had the most serves (4). Zari had 10 hit attempts with 3 kills. Mahala had 6 attempts with 1 kill.

MS vs. Christiansburg: 9/29/25. We looked a little rocky on this Monday afternoon. We continue to find ourselves holding these girls to a higher standard because they continually impress us. Their growth this year has been AMAZING. Match 1: We didn’t serve or pass as well as we should have which made for a long match, but I am still proud of their efforts. Briley continues to shine and has worked really hard and grown a lot this season. She had the most serves this match (6). Briley and Peyton were the only two girls who didn’t miss a serve this match. Match 2: Mahala continues to lead with her volleyball knowledge and skills on the court. She got the most serves (7) in and the most aces this set. Lily shined bright match with her great passing and she got 2 hits. This is a huge improvement for her! Match 3: Blair shined bright with the most serves over (3).

MS vs. Pulaski: 9/30/25: Tonight was better volleyball! Our girls are working hard and we are proud of them. We need to learn that mistakes happen and that they are okay. We’ve gotta find our inner Taylor Swift and “shake it off”. lol. Pulaski is a tough team and we really struggled playing when we played at Pulaski, tonight wasn’t a walk in the park, but they did look much better. Kelly and I tell the girls all the time that when we are having fun we play so much better! Match 1: Out of 14 serves; we only had 3 errors. Briley, Laynee, and Emma didn’t have any serving errors. Briley had 16 ‘good’ assists which is exactly what we want from her! Mahala and Zari had 4 attempts and 1 kill. Match 2: Emma (4) and Mahala (3) led us in serving this match! This match we served 14 times and only had 2 errors! Tihana had 3 attempts and 1 kill.

MS vs. Pulaski: 9/30/25: MATCH 3… the most exciting of the night! We typically always get to play a ‘developmental set’ and it’s one of my favorite things about MS volleyball. We had the most energy during this game. I was SO proud of Blair, Kaebry, Chloe, Zari, Hadley, Alexis, and Tihanna! They played some really good volleyball. Their skills have grown so much from the beginning of the season. Blair had 8 serves. Zari had 6 serves. Kaebry and Tihanna had 2 aces! Alexis showed huge improvements tonight as Libero; she was stepping in and making plays that she typically wouldn’t have attempted. Zari continues to be a leader on and off the court. She is someone we can depend on… always! Zari came out to tryouts and I didn’t even realize she hadn’t played volleyball before. Her athleticism is amazing and we are so excited to have her! Her commitment to our team and willingness to get better every day is showing. She closed out our points tonight! They played well & played together as a team. They fought for every single point and they ended up winning that third set!

Keep up the great work Coach !!!

Carroll County Middle School 🏫 Volleyball defeats the visiting Bobcats 2-1 on Father’s Day on The Hill !

Tuesday night πŸŒ™ was our third consecutive Triple Header with the Middle School team and the youngest of our Lady Cavaliers went out in style by defeating the Bobcats 2-1 ( 25-15, 25-18, 9-15).

Head Coach Brittany Kinney was out of town for some educational classes in Northern Virginia so Kelly Holderfield slid into the Captains chair πŸ’Ί with both Nikki Heflin and Kayla Nester by her side.

Β  CCMS led 7-5 when Laynee Burnett served up five consecutive points, including four straight Aces, to push the score out to 12-5. Briley McGhee scored two Kills and Lillian Spencer added an Ace to make it 18-9. The Lady Cavaliers finished out the set when Emma Keith scored the set closing Kill at 25-15.

Β  The second set was knotted up 11-11 until CCMS scored five straight points with Peyton Burcham at the service line. McGhee made it 18-12 with an over the shoulder Kill. McGhee added two more late Kills, Burnett added one more service winner and Spencer scored the match point to close out the 25-18 victory.

The two teams played a third set to 15 afterwards, giving both teams much needed playing time for their rosters. The Bobcats team won the final set 15-9 but the Lady Cavaliers finished up with some highlights. Laken Lintecum served three straight points to cut the deficit to 11-9 before the visitors closed out the set with the final four points.

Β  Fun three nights πŸŒ™ with the three teamsΒ  playing under the same roof. As Coach Kinney and Coach Holderfield finish up their season, PLEASE know that πŸ™ in and all updates are Welcome here.

On a personal note πŸ“ , I did my best to create as positive of an atmosphere for the young ones the past three nights, because they are our future!
