The Pit of Sand that will absorb Miss Delp

We have all made it inside of Osborne Stadium 🏟 and there are many a role to fill. Dad, Mom, Coach, Big Sis, Little Sis, fellow State competitor, Boy Friend and some guy trying hard to capture the Moment.

Right now the Class 4 Girls are jumping their three attempts with the Class 3 Girls to follow-up. Here until its over so please check back early and often !

10:40 am update – Girls 4 still at it.

10:50 am – Girls 4 preparing for Finals now.

11:00 – best guess, first jump around 11:30ish

How this works is that All who qualified for the event get three attempts. I believe that the total number is 26(37 actually). After they have all jumped 3 times, the best will advance to the Finals. There, they’ll receive 3 additional attempts.

11:20 – Girls Class 4 is now complete in 1:50 of clock ⏰. Corrie Delp just received First Call πŸ“ž.

11:45 – Now we know more – Corrie is in the third of 3 flights ✈️ and might still be an hour from jumping.

11:50 – The playing of our National Anthem marks the switch to the afternoon session.

The flights for the Long Jump are 12,12 and 13. They are created by the Athletes PR. Delp is in the third and final flight, the one containing the best of the qualifying!

New Best Guess for first jump is 12:45ish

The upside is that the finals will take place immediately after the 3rd flight is completed. Heading in, Corrie has the eighth best recorded jump of the season in Class 3.

12:15 – Flight ✈️ 1 has completed the first two jumps and are beginning their third and final attempts.

The good news is that the rain 🌧 held off and the bad news is the rain held off. 82Β° feels like 86Β° and its not down climbing. The rain was going to keep the temps in the mid to low 70’s.

12:35 – Flight ✈️2 is prepared to start, next best guess for Corrie is now 1:20

The good news is that Corrie is resting in the shade with her Family and friends.

12:53 – we have a Corrie Delp sighting !

The run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ through

1:06 – practice is over, its showtime here !

1:10 – jumping 5th, first attempt was red flagged.

1:17 – great 2nd jump !

1:26 – solid third jump, we think she is in the Finals but waiting for confirmation from the officials…

16-9.25 makes it, we are in the Finals with 17-7.5, still 1/4 inch from School 🏫 record.

2nd best jump headed into the Finals !!!

1:40 – Finals begin…

1:42 – solid first attempt1

:45 – great jump but red flagged

1:48 – Jumps are finished, waiting for official results…

Happy Memorial Day 2025 !

Memorial Day weekend carries a different meaning to so many people, especially here in Carroll County, Virginia. High School πŸŽ“, Flea Market, Nascar race 🏁 in Charlotte or even the unofficial beginning of the Golf β›³ season. But to those who served in the Military during their lifetime, its a time for reflection about fellow soldiers who lost their lives defending our Country.

Carroll County High School Wrestling Coach West Long took the time recently to share his thoughts on the Holiday and its relevance to him.

We hope that everyone πŸ™ has a terrific Holiday and folks will enjoy quality time with Friends and Family. If you have a minute or two to reflect on the meaning of the day, please understand the truth about the purpose of the day.

We live in a Wonderful Country and it has remained that way because so many people laid down their lives to fight for our freedom !

Stop βœ‹#4 of 8 on the Spring Senior Day send-offs is in the books πŸ“š, next up is Boy’s Tennis 🎾 on Monday afternoon and our two Track πŸ‘£ and Field teams Monday night.

After creating the first three and then reading them to the crowd, the fourth one just involved framing as Landon read the script incredibly well at Bill Worrell Field on Saturday afternoon.

Half-way home now and after Monday there will only be Girls πŸ‘§ Tennis remaining with the hopes of helping Martin McKenzie on Thursday afternoon.

The number of Student Athletes remaining is now six with the breakdown now being 2,2,2,0. The zero belongs to Shawn Montgomery’s Girls Track and Field team. It reminds me of the old line about if a 🌳 falls in the forest… the team has no Seniors but yet one has to acknowledge the team itself.

Baseball had six, Girls Soccer had seven, Softball had 1 and Boys Soccer had eight to bring us to 22. 28 should be the final Tally with it being 18 Boys and 10 Girls

Four of the Six remaining are Tennis 🎾 players.
Brayden Smoot
Nathanael Dalton

While I don’t know what the number of Students that are about to graduate is, it makes me wonder how it compares to 28 that compete in the Spring sports.

The goal will be to make sure that the final six feel as special as the first 22! Monday afternoon at 4:15, it’s Ethan Richardson and Paul Marshall on the South Side of the Boulevard. Then in between games of the Boys Soccer Doubleheader, its Nathanael Dalton and Brayden Smoot.

Have yourself a Blessed Sunday !!!
