Allen was at the Diamond 💎 tonight and will have a Gamer available on line tomorrow at The Carroll News.
We will turn first to Coach DeHaven for his thoughts on the night for his baseball ⚾️ Program.
“Varsity baseball won 11-1 today against Bassett. JV baseball also beat Bassett 17-0. Good day for baseball!!⚾️. Mason Crockett hit a two run HR and Lance Burnett pitched a six inning complete game!”
Thank You Coach DeHaven !
Glenn Burnett also was kind enough to send in some material from the Varsity game.
Varsity baseball leading 7-1 bottom 6 11-1 baseball wins Lance Burnett complete game, I think 5ks Mason Crockett 2 run home run
Glenn also sent in a pair of video clips that we will get added.
Great start to the season for Varsity Baseball ⚾️ and we are looking forward to the complete game story!
Jabin Talley is following in the foot steps 🚶♂️of Macie Adkins, heading up and over to the campus of Southwest Virginia Community College as he furthers both his education and tennis 🎾 career.
There’s a great deal more to the campus here then one might expect, especially when you consider that most folks aren’t all that familiar with the School itself.
The photo 📷 above was taken from the spacious Campus Library or as I called it, the room with a view.
Jabin and his family 👪, Mom, Dad, Stepfather and Grandfather, made the drive 🚗 down this morning to officially start his journey. Photo 📷 ops with the Tennis 🎾 Coach and the Mascot followed a brief but informative visit with the Schools 🏫 Athletic Director.
Greg was kind enough to make room in his pickup truck for me as I hoped to capture the life changing day for his Son.
How many days has Jabin spent with a Tennis 🎾 racket in his hand ✋ to reach a point where his game would allow him the opportunity to pursue a college education ?
How many cans of tennis balls, how many tennis rackets were needed along the way ? How much Love and Support was provided by his Family 👪 and his friends ?
There will be a handful or two of Student Athletes that will graduate 🎓 from Carroll County High School this year that will be fortunate enough to take their talents to the next level. Let’s take the time to appreciate them all, with the understanding that each one of them has worked for many, many years to reach a level of play that is needed to continue after high school.
Jabin Talley first picked up a racket while he was in Elementary School. Just short of a decade of working on his game, going from just trying to get the ball back across the net to trying to do it with some level of force and then trying to learn how to hit one particular dot on the court.
Jabin Talley already owns the CCHS record for Tennis victories and later this week he will start his Senior Season in hopes to adding to that tally in a Big Way
Top seed in Singles, Top seed in Doubles alongside junior Ethan Richardson (the duo advanced to the Elite Eight in State last season), has the coming months looking very bright for Talley and Company.
For the next 60 or so days you can catch this young man 👨 in action 🎬 just across the street from the High School 🏫. After that you will be able to do the same down here at SWCC.
Softballs Macie Adkins blazed a Cavalier trail 👣 last year to a place that folks weren’t even familiar with.
One year later we have Jabin Talley joining her in the ranks of Flying Eagles. A great place to take a first step 🚶♂️to a four year school.
SWCC Tennis Coach and Carroll County Tennis Coach sharing a moment.
We will add more photos 📷 after the fact but wanted to share the thoughts on Jabin’s Big Day !
Thank You for all of your years of dedication and commitment 👏.
Thank You for wearing our School colors & Thank You for bringing Pride to our Community !!
Tomorrow morning 🌄 the group that I like to call the Jabin Talley Fan Club is accompanying Jabin down to the campus of Southwest Virginia Community College. Jabin will sign his letter of intent as well as register for his first set of classes.
I think the percentage of high school Student – Athletes that make it to College as Student Athletes sits at 7%. Tomorrow is a Big Day for the extended Family 👪 and we will do our best to capture and frame the day to the best of our ability.
We head out bright & early so there’s probably time for maybe 1 more story tonight.
Maybe we will lucky enough to run across Macie Adkins during our time there…..
Congratulations 👏 to Jabin & his Fan Club ! See you in the morning 🌄
Seven of our 11 Spring teams have their season debuts Tuesday and while we will do our best to provide some level of coverage for the other six, my focus will be entertaining the folks that attend Cavalier Park for the Varsity Softball game.
We have so many things to celebrate tomorrow evening that its hard to list the all. Emma Leath is back for her senior season and she will be surrounded by a combination of familiar faces and young ladies making their Varsity debut.
Jeff Tobler will once again be at Coach Nester’s side and up in the press box 📦 will be Kevin Burress, Tammy Tobler and myself. We will be doing our best to keep everyone informed and entertained.
The folks in the Concession Stand will be in mid-season form and the Omega Foul Ball contest will offer two prizes for the lucky winner 🏆 this season.
We strive to make being at Cavalier Park so fun that it will make others want to cross the Street ! We have a Top-Shelf Coaching staff, 12 wonderful ball players and some loving & supporting Parents.
Our players 💘 to play for Coach Nester, 💘 their teammates, 💘 their walk 🚶♂️ up music 🎶 and love to play in front of a crowd.
Tomorrow we will also be welcoming two wonderful Ladies from Skyline Bank 🏦 that helped make the new scoreboard possible. They will be tossing out the first pitch at 4:45.
7 season openers tomorrow and one will try to wrap a little extra around it in hopes of creating an atmosphere for our 12 hard working 💪 ladies !
