Casey & Combs are checking all of the boxes early on in their Chase to run 🏃♂️ the absolute Best version of a Baseball program possible !
On display today was the Board of Stats the duo created in hopes of listing the top spots in every baseball category.
In the photo 📷 above you see the five members of the List that were present at today’s Celebration. Velvet Creed Leonard took a high quality version of the group and once I have that we will order a Canvas copy for everyone in the Photo 📷.
Left to Right, Casey Burcham, Rod Bryant, Hix Miller, Craig Worrell and Adam Nester. I feel pretty comfortable that I have that listed correctly but please 🙏 inform me if there’s any name listed incorrectly.
Today presented roughly 15-20 story lines and I wanted to start with one of my favorite columns – The coolest 😎 Person that I’ve never met !
Each time I meet the person at the top of the list I have to replace the name.
Before the day began the name on the Top of the List was Travis Austin. Most people would surprised by the fact that Travis and I had never met in person before today since we have teamed up a few times over the years.
As we do, from time to time, we will name the gentleman 🕴️to his right as Travis’s Cool Friend.
The next name to jump up into the Top Spot was Mason Crockett. This is/was for no other reason than our paths had never crossed before.
Very happy for Mr. Crockett for having earned the right to play Football at his dream school 🏫!
Such a pleasant experience to meet the impressive young man 👨!!
We don’t have membership cards here at OneofUs.Care but if we did, the young Lady 👩 pictured would be carrying a Platinum card. Proud to have Velvet Creed Leonard on our team !
So much coverage to follow over the next few days as well as a preview on the efforts of our Volleyball 🏐 Coach, Cindy Edwards….
Here in a few hours, approximately 30 former Carroll County High School Cavaliers are going to step 🚶♂️ into the Batters Box, knock the dust of their spikes and swing for the fences at Bill Worrell Field.
First things First, Wow 👏 is that a Trophy 🏆!!!!
New Baseball ⚾️ Coach Casey Burcham and JV Baseball Coach Steve (One for the Thumb) Combs have visions for their program going forward. Today is Step #1 in that direction and it begins with the Home Run Derby and will be followed by two Alumni Baseball ⚾️ games.
Raising Money 💰 for your program is a HUGE part of the process nowadays and one needs to be creative on ways to go about things. Burcham and Combs have created something that is in my wheelhouse of ideas 💡 because it centers around inclusion.
Inclusion makes any list of my 10 favorite Words in the English language. When you create an idea 💡 the number 1 Goal should be to have a way for as many people to participate in form or another. Everything taking place today on The Hill does just that.
Back to the Home Run Derby….
I pitched a couple of thoughts at Casey & Combs ( that name might stick) about ways folks could further enjoy the Home Run contest. They agreed to let me test them out as long as I was willing to be responsible for them.
So, here’s something that folks can be thinking about between now and 2pm – just how many Home Runs will leave the ballpark during the entirety of the contest 🙄 ?
Today should be a Great Day for a Great Program and I’m looking forward to seeing it play itself out !
Admission is just $5 and there will be plenty of concessions available throughout the day !
The young Lady 👩 on the right has locked 🔒 in the Honor 🎖 of being the Most Watched Cavalier in the history of our site. Laiken Burnett competed in three Sports as a Freshman on the Junior Varsity level and followed that year up with a Trifecta on the Varsity level.
The young Lady 👩 on the Left goes by the name of Mom in this Mom / Daughter combo. Mom and Dad spent the last two years doing a divide ➗ and support to be there for both of their older children.
The family 👪 stays as busy as it gets and still manage to do it with a smile !
Throwback to the Days where the Indianapolis Weatherman turned late night 🌙 host, David Letterman, we will now present to you the Top Ten reasons for stopping by the diamond 💎 on the Hill tomorrow !
The event was originally slated to take place last night 🌙 but Mother Nature changed the plans…
Now its time for take #2….
Anytime you are pushed into using a Rain 🌧 Date 📅 there’s a risk that you will lose some folks due to rescheduling but we are hoping that the setback will be limited.
Without further delay we now present to you the Top Ten reasons why you should stop ✋ by and soak in some of the daylong festivities…
#10 – The Home 🏡 Run 🏃♂️ Derby ! A large number of former Cavaliers have signed up to take their cuts ✂️ in hopes of leaving with the crown 👑 of Home Run King 🤴.
#9 – The Board of Records will be on display for all to see. The Coaches have put together a display board listing all of the current Cavalier record holders.
#8 – Inclusion – Coach Burcham and Company have went out of their way to reach out to the rich history of Cavalier Baseball ⚾️. The line about the Lottery is ” you can’t win if you don’t play”. Well, you cannot feel the Inclusion if you’re not at the ballpark.
#7 – We here that Josh Edmunds is slated to make an appearance and lend his voice to the festivities !
#6 – Live Baseball ⚾️ will be played by a group of Men that will wake ⏰ up tomorrow morning singing “Glory Days “.
#5 – The ceremonial First Pitch(es) will include a Who’s Who of Cavalier Baseball ⚾️ History.
#4 – Velvet Creed Leonard is set to appear and grace us with her Camera 📷 skills. The sky is the limit on the number of photos that might be taken.
#3 – You will have an opportunity to shake the hand and offer words of encouragement 🙏 to our new Athletic Director, Mr. Kevin DeHaven.
#2 – Rumor has it that Junior Varsity Baseball Coach ⚾️ Steve Combs will be available to speak on what it is like to bring 🏡 the GOLD five straight years. If you listen closely you will hear Casey in the background saying that’s nice but let’s focus on #6.
The #1 reason to stop ✋ by the Festival tomorrow is……..
Casey’s Mother 👩. She did an outstanding job raising Casey over his lifetime 👏 and now he is in a position where he can be a positive impact on the lives of oh so many of our Youth!
Casey Burcham, Steve Combs and Adam Nester are going places and tomorrow is your chance to be at the Train 🚆 station 🚉 on the day of departure !
