Christiansburg invades The Hill while the Ladies travel to the Star 🌟 City !!!

Junior Varsity Boys chasing Christiansburg early while the Lady 👩 Cavaliers lead Cave Spring at the Half, 16-11.

Switching back to The Hill, its 35 – 11 at the break in favor of the visitors.

It’s been a minimum of 17 days since each of these Cavaliers have played a competitive basketball game versus an opponent. Great to be back put there.

Blue Demons start the third quarter on a 13-2 run and now lead 48 – 13. Cavs have had some good looks that just wouldn’t fall.

It would appear that the Demons bench is deep, as in maybe 15+ players.

End of 3rd quarter score – Blue Demons 55-19 after CCHS scored three late baskets.

3rd quarter for the Girls 👧 ends at 24 -18 in favor of the Lady Cavaliers. We won 🏆 the quarter 8-7.

Great to see 👀 this young Lady back on the floor !!!

4 : 39 / 6 :39 – JV Girls close out the victory, 31 – 24!!!!

The opening three minutes of the Boys Varsity game simply could not have gone any better. Cavs lead 9-0 with four different players scoring the points.

Sadly, our Network JV feed ended and the Varsity won’t engage. On hold for a minute or two.

The Varsity Lady 👩 Cavaliers are struggling early with their offense, trailing 5-0 at 4 :06 as Coach Mayo calls 📞 a TO.

End of 1st in Girls Varsity game, down 13-0 as CS challenged every pass and every shot.

Varsity Boys leading at the Half, 35 -34

Varsity Girls trail 18-7 with 3:24 left in 2nd

We got us a Barn Burner on The Hill. 8:00 left to play, Boys trail by 3.

9-2 spurt to close it out. Lady Cavaliers fall 47 – 24

Three hours of watching 👀 hoops and we will wait and see what any of the coaches are interested in sharing and go from there.

The Morning 🌄 Brew for February 9th comes with a little extra flavor and is stuffed full of goodies !

While the decision to wait one more day to reopen our School 🏫 was made yesterday afternoon, Mr DeHaven has confirmed that ALL of the sporting events are set to take place ! Day 17 of Weather Watch will include games !!

While we have already celebrated with a quirky trip to seven College campuses in one day, February 9th does officially make it 41 years since that day in Lindley Park Baptist Church ⛪down in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Later today we will set aside time to create stories about all of the Cavalier events where we receive information!

Going to close out the second week of Snow Out 2026 with kind words for two cornerstones of The Hill ! I just read that one of them had a great day in Roanoke and I’m hoping that the other celebrated with his Family 👪.

Vickey Ritchie took three teams of Special Olympics Basketball 🏀 up to Roanoke College and our hard working Athletic Director, Kevin DeHaven celebrated his Birthday 🎂.

If you look closely 👀, the eyes of Alyssa Ervin yesterday afternoon told a story. The fact that our Sophomore guard was able to give Coach Pierre Curtis 24 minutes of play yesterday, despite not feeling well, goes to mental strength.

In a game full of physical defense on both ends of the floor, the victory went to the Buccaneers after a tie-breaking 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

Duke leads 24 – 6 late in the first quarter, showing zero letdown after the victory at Louisville.

East Tennessee State University prides itself on playing in your face defense and they rode that to a 7-0 lead with 3:10 remaining in the first quarter. It was at that point that speculation about why Ervin didn’t start the game.

Standing at the free – throw line after being fouled, Ervin looked beyond worn out. But its worth noting that she still made both FT’s.

It was unfortunate that Furman was playing two games against the other top teams inside of 48 hours. Already playing without two key 🔑 players due to injury, having Ervin at less than 100% didn’t help.

Clare Coyle flirted with recording a double double by the halftime break. Her heroic effort allowed the Paladins to lead 23 – 18 late in the second quarter. ETSU ended the first half in the same manner that they closed out the game, by beating the buzzer with a shot from arc.

The other television 📺 is on the ACC Network where the Lady Tar Heels 👠 are playing Wake Forest. Heels leading 39-29 at the break.

Five regular season games remaining for the ‘Dins…

Duke 46 – 16 at the break. Next Sunday UNC travels over to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a BIG GAME.

Raina McGowens did her best to play Robin to Coyle as Batman. Coyle never left the floor and McGowens logged 35 minutes, scoring 10 points and snagging six rebounds.

Samaria Taylor played an expanded role and the 5’7 guard scored 11 points in her 24 minutes. The team huffed and puffed across all 40 minutes, leading 55-53 after McGowens final basket 🧺. ETSU ended the game on a 5-0 run to complete their South Carolina double, having tripped up Wofford on Thursday night.

Get Well Soon to Alyssa and hopefully 🙏 we will see 6’3 Kyraha Parnell ( Galax) back on the court before too long. Parnell has been sidelined since her injury back on January 10th.

Mom’s Chicken 🐔 Soup 🍲 might help things along !

Busy time for Vickey Ritchie and Friends with five dates 📅 circled on the calendar over the coming weeks. Here’s hoping 🙏 that today is everything and then some for the group !!.
