While Carroll County High School has many sports that play half their games / matches on The Hill, others are much less fortunate. Swimming 🏊♂️ and Cross Country come to mind as those who don’t, with Wrestling next on the list.
This Wednesday Coach Montgomery will be in charge up at Hillsville Elementary School 🏫 and he checked in to inform us of the number of people that will be joining him.

As her parents we are very proud of Arizona in all her accomplishments in life, with sports being a plus. School first with her heading into a career of nursing but still have fun.
Arizona plays volleyball and softball and also enjoys hanging out with friends her boyfriend Klay and riding horses. Arizona’s favorite place to be is the beach soaking up the sun!
Arizona is a team player and is enjoying her first year on Varsity building a strong team defense in the years to come with a such a young team.
As a parent I’ve always told her to put God first in everything she does and she will go far in life!

From Arizona :
I enjoy the game of volleyball and it is a way to get away from stress at school and school work.
I enjoy playing with my teammates and they are very supportive with everything I do.

From Assistant Coach Maleah Neely :
Arizona has been another great addition to the team this year. She has jumped right in and has done whatever is asked of her. Some games her role is to play in the middle opposite of Brooke, some games she goes in as a serving specialist, and other games she is tasked with being positive from the sideline. Whatever we ask her to do, she smiles, says okay, and does it.
That has seemed to be her volleyball career this far though. For Coach Petty, Arizona started as a hitter and then ended the season last year as his libero. She just comes in the gym and does what she is asked to do – no fuss, just work. I have been impressed with her ability to play different positions and how she has embraced being in a utility type of role for us this year.
I’m not sure what the next game will bring for her position wise, but I do know that whatever it is will be done with a big ol smile on her face.

From Coach Cindy Edwards :
Arizona Thompson is very hard working kid who did not hit any last year on Jv’s. She has improved tremendously this season and hopefully we can work on her vertical this off season and she has done a great job serving.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you our #5, Arizona Thompson !
This was the Post 📫 from our Athletic Director Kevin DeHaven the last time Trace Reavis played an official round of Golf ⛳ for Carroll County High School 🏫.
Reavis carded a 69 to capture the Regional tournament Medalist honors 🎖 as well as leading the team to a Top 5 finish. While the team just missed the cut ✂️ of qualifying for the trip up I-81, Reavis will be heading up the Interstate for the Big Event on Tuesday.
Monday will be the official practice round for all of the golfers 🏌️♂️ at the city owned layout, Heritage Oaks ( Par 70)
Here you will find the team photo 📷 from the meet at Draper Valley and to the right is from the interview process later that night 🌙 at the Varsity Volleyball match. Camden DeHaven is also included in the interview after earning a spot on the Second Team of the Regional tournament.
Head Coach Chase Robinson will be part of the traveling party and many teammates and classmates will be anxiously awaiting the results !
Congratulations 👏 👏 👏 Trace on earning the trip North and Best of Luck on Tuesday !!
I’ve had October 13th circled on my Calendar 📅 for quite some time. I’m in my 3rd season of announcing Field Hockey 🏑 down at Appalachian State University and Sunday will be the first time in my 46 years that I will announce a NCAA contest that includes the #1 Ranked Team in the Nation.
The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill is coming to The Rock and the Tar Heels are the dominant team in the World 🌎 of Field Hockey 🏑.
I won’t hide from the level of excellence I have about this, pre- Hurricane. Boone, North Carolina was one of the hardest hit cities / communities during Helene. The University has been in shutdown since the storm and will resume Classes on Wednesday.
The Football team had to cancel their Home game vs Liberty University the weekend of the storm and have played on the road the past two weekends. In fact they are playing as I type.
On the Field Hockey side we found home away from home Campuses in UNC – Charlotte and Davidson College before playing on the road at Liberty University and Miami of Ohio.
Tomorrow morning 🌄 we will gather around at 10am ahead of the Noon start. It has gone from a game against #1 team in the Nation to the rebirth of the public side of Appalachian State University. The community, the City and the University have been through so much in the past weeks. Obviously Boone is not alone as we have witnessed a long list of places that are still trying hard to return to the point of normalcy.
If there has been any form of a bright spot here, its been the way folks have rallied around each other in a time of need.
Tomorrow morning 🌄 was already going to be special because it’s the Tar Heels 👠 but now its the First Step 🚶♂️ in showing that while Boone was hit hard, it will live on to continue Fighting the Good Fight !
