It’s a beautiful day in the Neighborhood (Thank You π Mr. Rogers).
Preaching this morning π, Brother Puckett was right on message in talking about bitterness and Pride amongst other things. β needing to be in Awe.
Just like Stephen did earlier in the day, Coach Vickey is making sure to include Veterans Day in the theme! Being a lifetime Lover of All Things Military, I greatly appreciate π both their efforts β€.
Pappy is on his way back up I-81 now and hopefully will find himself back in the Draft.
It’s a Great Day to be Alive and per the norm, try to make someone Smile !
One of the most impressive parts of watching π/ helping Coach Vickey is her unique ability to continually blend in the players as they change from week to week. The amount of mental energy that is on display from 2 to 4 pm is motivating.
Today we have 13 players, and our Coach does her best to make everyone feel included !
Our first SWATA trophy is on its way home!! Congrats to Carroll A for taking third place at the State Line Showdown today! Carroll B placed 5th and Carroll C placed 8th in a 15 team field!
Carroll B: Trenton Newman, Payton Shupe, Jacob Talbert, Garrison Wheatley, Terry Woods
Carroll C: Will Dalton, Will Bowman, Joseph Rash-Rowland, Zoe Dalton, Cameron Brown
Overall Top Score Honors (top 12 get prizes – there were 61 players today): Garrison Wheatley – 5th Connor Beasley – 7th Joey Rash-Rowland – 9th Bradley Dalton – 11th
Fun Fact: Carroll C was led by 8th grader Will Dalton who was the only player on the team with previous experience. Everyone else is in their first season and Joey came from that team to be the 9th best player of the day his first time out! Terry Woods and Sadie Spence also played for the first time today.
We are so excited to see our teams growing and winning!! Thanks to coach Paxton Berrier for leading this amazing program!!
Congratulations πππ to Everyone involved with the Day and Thank You to our Ace Reporter…
On the drive π down Pappy told me about his School π« created a Golf β³ team and that he Coached the inaugural team !
Absolutely π―% π Low Budget Marketing !!!
Pappy’s wife of 46 years was not happy to hear that he stayed up well past his bedtime π΄ as we watched the efforts of Bronco Mendenhall and the University of New Mexico last night.
Everyone needs a Pappy and a Mrs.Pappy in their life !
Upstate 16, UNC-G 15 early 2nd quarter….

Stop #3 – Carter Finley Stadium π
Duke 12, NCSU 0 (3:45-1) [End 1st]

Major MOJO play as NCSU strips the ball as Duke made it to the Wolfpack 10 yard line. Kudos to #15 for Duke for chasing down the Bandit…
5:10 pm – Halftime….
Stop β #4 – Elon University !
Just over 24 hours, four College games on four different campuses in two States !
Not only is Mr. Bill Meade of Stuarts Draft a teacher, he’s also a proud Graduate of the College of William and Mary. So on an evening with five different Sporting events that made the list of options, the landing spot is the Dedmon Center on the campus of Radford University.
The Highlanders are playing host to the Tribe with the Tip-Off set for 7pm.
Men’s Basketball π was another option down at Cameron Indoor Stadium as Duke plays host to Army (6pm).
Women’s College Hoops was on the list as Elon University (7pm) is set to play their second game of the season tonight.
Option #4 of 5 gets started at 8pm down in Winston-Salem as Wake Forrest hosts California in ACC Football πππ
Option 5 of 5 is only listed last as Allen Worrell will have blanket coverage for Carroll County High at Glenvar High School π« Football π (starting at 7pm).
Let’s get back to our well educated Guest, Bill “Pappy” Meade. Pappy is in his 70’s now but is still Battling Father Time. Refusing to willingly slow down, Pappy is staying busy by both teaching at Ridgeview Christian βοΈ School and coaching Tennis πΎ at Staunton High School.
Our paths first crossed 20+ years ago when Meade was the Sports Editor for the Page News and Courier. His writing β style screams OneofUs.Care as Meade also only uses his words for Good.
[Duke16, Army 8] – first update…
So with apologies to Cooper Flagg, Alyssa Ervin and the Golden Bears π» of California, we will spend the next two hours watching π Pappy’s Alma mater (Class of 1975). It’s been 50 years now and it still shows.
Pappy still finds time to cover High School π« Sports for the Daily News Record up in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Plenty of defense and hustle πͺ from both sides tonight. 35-34 Tribe, 3:21 remains in the opening half.
First Final of the nights π Five…
