Floyd County will be all in tonight as we begin the final two weeks of Three Rivers District Boys 👦 Basketball 🏀. The Buffaloes dropped two games during the first half of league play which means that if they hope to contend for the regular season title they will need to play near perfect hoops.

  Glenvar and Carroll County are tied in the loss column with one setback. Both teams defeated Floyd County so they have the tiebreakers.

The Cavaliers are 5-1 & 16-1 entering the contest tonight. Floyd sits at 6-2 with Alleghany at 5-2 as each of the three teams is looking up at Glenvar (6-1).

The next 14 days should be exciting as the regular season stretch run 🏃‍♂️ officially begins tonight. Six games in the league ➕ a potential trip over to Galax remain for Head Coach Anthony Barnes and his troops.

Floyd County will be playing tonight as if their regular season depends on it because it does. Suffering a third loss at this point would make things all but over in regards to the District race 🏁.

  Bryce Smoot exploded over there and we came away with the hard fought victory. Tonight our Cavaliers need to have a Home Court advantage if they are going to complete the regular season sweep once again.

Bring your noise, Bring your energy and if at all possible, bring it at 5:30 for the Junior Varsity game. We know that our neighbors to the East travel well so while Coach Barnes and Kris Richardson focus on getting our players ready, let’s make sure we do our part !

Back home after announcing the Senior Night  Wrestling  match, its straight to the computer 🖥 for the remainder of the Varsity action 🎬 over at Floyd County.

  We will work our way backwards after the conclusion.

Halftime score – Floyd County 35, Carroll County 16….

Bright spot of the game comes at the start of the 3rd quarter as the Lady 👩 Cavaliers score the first six points of the second half to trim the deficit to 35-22. Callie Harris scored four of her team high 11 points during the four minute spurt.

Floyd County answered back with an 11-0 run before CC Mitchell ( eight points) and Madison Coleman ( two points) closed out the evenly matched quarter with baskets 🧺. The eight minutes went in favor of the Lady Buffs but only by a margin of 11-10.

Harris and Mitchell combined for the final six points of the game as it ends 55-32. The team was even more short handed than normal as Natalie Burress was unable to play as she recovers from an illness.

The Lady 👩 Cavaliers will play two more times this week with both contests being on the road. Patrick County and Martinsville will be the home teams on Wednesday and Friday.

The Junior Varsity team was also playing shorthanded due to illness. The book will show you the scratches as Ashton Rodrigue, Chloe Frazier and Hayden Heflin.

Despite being down to six players, the younger Lady 👩 Cavaliers battled until the very end. Floyd County won the second half but only by a margin of 17-13 in the 40-17 setback

It’s Senior Night 🌙 on The Hill for the Wrestlers and Coach West Long has asked me to try to help frame tthe Day for his group of dedicated soon to be 🎓👨‍🎓👩‍🎓.

Meanwhile, Marion Harris will be on the Road for the first of three times this week as our Girls prepare to play over at Floyd County. The games are slated to get underway at 5:30 pm and if anything changes we will update it here.
