Welcome 🙏 to Alex Cruz Day as we salute our second Wrestler to qualify for State under Coach West Long in our Morning 🌄 Brew

One day after our eight members of the Swim 🏊‍♂️ team shined in the Pool in Richmond, Alex Cruz and West Long will be representing The Hill today at the Salem Civic Center. One year ago it was Samuel Collins that became the first grappler to punch his ticket 🎟 to the Show for Coach Long.

Cruz is a model Student who is seldom seen without a smile on his face. The fact that he is a solo act today needs to be highlighted by the fact that four others were just one step away from joining him on the mat. Preston Farmer and Trenton Newman on the Boys 👦 side and Amelia Dalton and Khloe Dean on the Girls side.

Best of Luck today Alex, we know that you will represent Carroll County High School 🏫 in a positive manner !

Howard Mayo and his Motovational Nugget of the Day ;

Welcome 🙏 to Travelers Rest, South Carolina !!

🏡 of the Paladins…
Kristy Jones goes by another name and its Trenton’s Mom 👩. She is a kind soul ❤ and is willing to assist me while I quietly watch Alyssa Ervin and Furman University play ▶️ Women’s Basketball 🏀.

The Swim 🏊‍♂️ Post has been ongoing all day and Mr DeHaven says we have 3 more events. We have had a great day up at the State Meet.

All – Around

Carroll lost 38-73 in the All – Around

Alyssa picked up her second foul at 8:33 in the second quarter and will need to sit for a spell.

We have reached the Half, trailing 27 – 24. The difference between Furman University in the past versus this season is the ability of Coach to make adjustments ahead of the second half.

Alyssa with a defensive board and baseball ⚾️ pass to Pearl who now has 10 points. Clare Coyle leads with 13 and our deficit is one at 34 – 33 (4:26) in the 3rd.

Alyssa ties 👔 it at 34 by sinking a technical free throw!

This just in, Clare Coyle is intense !

I need to be a Homer for a minute and respectively disagree with the charging foul called on Kiddo at 3:21 (3rd). If it helps, Pierre agrees with me.

Soft jumper drops and a steal on the other end, Dins lead 40-39

Chantelle Stewart perfectly executed the age old run down the clock ⏰ and score at the buzzer, leading 42 – 39 at the start of 4th..

King with a Triple, up 6 !!!!

UT – Chattanooga and Wofford have both won their games tonight.

TO at 6:58, ‘Dins leading 47 – 44.

Pearl drains another 3 !!!

Alyssa fouled while driving the baseline. Free-throws coming.

Last Media TO at 4:51, up by four, 53 -49

Coyle and Pearl with 15 each. Kyraha Parnell played some key 🔑 minutes.

Down the stretch we go….

Quick 6-0 run 🏃‍♂️ for Samford and they lead 55-53. Coaches challenge underway at 3:15.

2:05 – a second challenge for Furman, down 3 at 57 – 54… Verdict – longer conversation this time, we get the reversal !

Francie Morris (24 points) just scored again and Samford leads by 5 at 1:28

Coyle at line makes 1 of 2

Time out at0:398, down 63 – 55.after 14 – 2 run. Coyle at the line again, Yes & Yes. Still alive..

Thank You to my Bride 👰 for keeping Kira and the Devils on the safe side of the scoreboard tonight against a solid team.

Morris adds two free throws to put her at 26 on the night 🌙.

Down 8 at 0:24.9, no quit in this team but its uphill now.

East Tennessee State University joins the list of SoCon winners tonight.

Its looks like 68 -59 is your final score. Furman will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon at home versus Mercer.

9:11 pm – Marion Harris just checked in with the stats from the Girls 👧 Basketball game last night and here is a great place to add them.

Not sure how much mental gas is in the tank but such a fun day plus of Basketball!

Carroll County Boys 👦 Basketball have finished up the regular season and  now play a game of wait and hope to see if advancing to Regional play is meant to be…

Glenvar High School needed overtime Wednesday night to defeat Carroll County, 82 -78 and the heartbreaking💔 setback has Anthony Barnes and our Cavaliers hoping 🙏 for an invitation to the Regional tournament. The team should receive word shortly if they have qualified as the 8th seed.

The Region is once again stacked with talented teams, top to bottom, but an always optimistic Barnes would welcome the opportunity to play David to a top – seeded Goliath in the quarterfinals.

” This one could have went either way, they just made shots at the end ,long 3’s contested,” said Arnes. ” We played really hard all night, executed our game plan on offense had opportunity to win it in regulation, didn’t get the look we needed but got it off, the run they had in the 3rd quarter hurt us in that stretch, we had way too many unforced turnovers after half 10 of them to count. I told them pregame we could not let them shoot and make more than 10 3’s and we win and they knocked down 16 too our 10, six point swing lost by 4.”

Reed played the game of his young career and looked like he was ready to take the torch of team leader from the group of Seniors that are set to graduate 🎓 later this spring. Two of the Juniors classmates were still out of the lineup as both Colton Gravley and Hayden Jackson were injured down the stretch as the weather forced the team to play seven games in just over one week.

A season that started with Darian Brown leading the Middle School Boys might indeed be over but its a safe bet that the five who have possibly played their last game as Cavaliers, are hoping that is not the case.

What was equally impressive about the number of 3-pointers that Glenvar made was how they scored in bunches at every point that it appeared Carroll County could pull away.

“Isiah Easter 23pts,13 rebounds, Blake Reed his biggest night of the year 33pts,4 Reb, 3 steals 4 blocks. Trace 10, 6 rebounds,” added Barnes. ” Usually when you put that many guys in double figures you win, both teams can’t win in a shootout like this , now we wait and see if we get in Friday in the seeding. Proud of my guys fight and effort and never giving up. Very thankful for a
group of great Coaches dedicated and passionate about the program. Go Cavs !”

If the team earns a trip to the post season tournament we will be there to cover it for them. If not, know that Isaiah Easter, Kyle Bunn, Trace Reavis, IsaiahLeagans and Landon Phillips wore the uniform with Pride and representEd the program with Class. But then again, that is the only way it gets done under the guidance of Barnes and Jason Stockner.

Ryan Phillips completed his initial season as Head Coach of the Junior Varsity team last night as well. Phillips will now turn his attention to Bill Worrell Field as the Assistant JV coach to Adam Nester.

The team hung with their hosts until late in the third quarter before falling to a barrage of hot 🔥 shooting.

The future of the team will focus on which players put in the work during the off-season in hopes of joining the six returning players on Varsity. Reed, Gravley, Jackson, Landon Kinder and Eli Lark will form the core alongside Will Motley.

Here’s hoping for one more last chance 🙏.
