Β Not my favorite way to share information, only because it doesn’t include first and last names but it is a way to share the information.
Deana Burcham shared this note π, helping put the contest in perspective:
Tons of improvement shown !
Thank You Travis and Deana !
Soccer β½οΈ x 4 β both Tennis πΎ teams will be in action π¬. Lin has two more Medical appointments ahead of Mondays surgery and West Virginia will be in the mix at some point.
Thank You to EVERY Dad π¨ or little Sister π that helped me tonight at Cavalier Park !
At 12:21 – Shawn Montgomery just emailed me the Track π£ and Field meet results !
This post π« will look different by design because its being written with Allen Worrell in mind. A quick look at each of the four contests played tonight. Allen will tweak it to make it work for the Newspaper π° side of things.
First things first, the question of the day has to be what are the Reese Brothers being fed for breakfast these days ?
Less than 24 hours after Senior Cody Reece deposited a Home Run onto the street beyond the fence of Bill Worrell Field, little brother Conner followed in his footsteps. Reece airmailed a 3-run bomb π£ as part of an 11 run rally in the bottom of the second inning.
Opertunity knocked for the younger Cavaliers when an early misque would have left the score tied 0-0. By the time the rally was over, 15 Cavaliers entered the batters box and the outcome had been decided. Chanson Rakes delivered a 3-run double in addition to the effort from Reece and Chase Hart added a two run single.
Eli Busick was the benefactor of the barrage and he limited the visitors to a single run in the top of the third inning. Jose Cruz lined a RBI triple to the gap, plating the one run.
Head Coach Adam Nester was able to sub in his bench by the third inning. Clay Quesenberry added a RBI single after entering for Reece. Eight of the nine lineup spots scored at least 1 run while six of them scored twice. Seven of the spots drove in atleast one run.
Galax HS 001 00 – 1
Cavaliers 0(11)3 0 X – 14
Personal note π It was fun to announce this one until the Top of the 4th inning, whenl it was time to cross the Boulevard to Cavalier Park.

Varsity Baseball βΎοΈ rolls at Galax
One night π after protecting The Hill with an 11-0 shutout over Virginia High School, the Burcham Bunch proved that quality baseball travels well.
Carroll County opened their 20-0 victory with three straight crooked numbers and never looked back in sweeping the season series with our closest neighbors.
As was the case with the Junior Varsity game, the Cavaliers spread the wealth offensively. 10 Cavs recorded a RBI with Ben ( I can do more than pitch)Phillips recording three as did Camden DeHaven and Cody Reece.
Twelve different players touched home plate once a trio of pitchers took care of the rest. Colby Goad ( 2 innings, 3 K’s) was followed by Wyatt Ogle ( 2 innings, 6 K’s) and then Reed Horton ( 1 inning, 3 K’s) closed the contest out.
DeHaven legged out a triple to go with a number of doubles as Carroll County added one more game to their nine game winning streak.

Galax Softball 10, Carroll County 8
@ Galax
The law of averages finally caught up with the Varsity Softball team in reference to competing with Galax as the Maroon Tide raced to an early 10-4 lead and held off a valiant Lady Cavaliers rally.
Galax has been improving year by year and managed to make a competitive game out of their trip to Cavalier Park earlier this season. CCHS prevailed 5-1 at home but the game was in doubt until the final out was recorded.
This time around the Lady Cavaliers found themselves in a deep hole π³, trailing 7-0 and then 10-4. They outhit the home team 13-10 but could not overcome the five fielding errors on the night.
The best part of the night was having Brooke Webb return to the lineup and get back out to centerfield. The Junior had missed several games due to an ankle injury.
Addie Greene continues to stuff the box score as the shortstop finished 3 of 4 with two doubles and a triple. Greene scored all three times and picked up a RBI.
Madison Coleman also went 3 of 4, scoring one run and a RBI. Laiken Burnett collected two hits and two RBIs on a night where the offense did plenty but the defense struggled a bit. The difference being that Galax has improved enough to take advantage of their extra outs.

JV Lady Cavaliers 13, Tazewell High School 11 (2 hours, 5 minutes )
The final contest of the night was as entertaining as it gets!
First Pitch – 6:48 & 72Β°
The bottom of the third inning was nothing short of priceless as Carroll County JV sent 14 batters to the plate and scored NINE runs, turning a 7-2 deficit into an 11-7 lead.
The coolest thing about the mind-boggling half inning was that five separate Proud Poppas helped me announce their Little Girls. For what seemed like 30 minutes, Cavalier Park was full of joy!
Kiley Lineberry ( 3 of 3 with her Dad announcing her, he had to head to work) went 4 of 4, scored two runs and picked up 2 RBIs. Molly Montgomery reached base four straight times and scored two runs. Aspen Aldred joined the explosion with three singles, two runs and a RBI.
The hitting seemed contagious but Tazewell rallied back to tie π the game at 11-11 and it remained that way until the bottom of the sixth inning. Kiley led of with a base hit and Montgomery followed with a double, bringing Bre Campbell to the plate.
With the aid of her younger Sister announcing her name, Campbell stroked a 2-run πββοΈ single to give Carroll County a 13-11 lead. Ava Beamer went back out to the Circle π΅ to close out the victory by squeezing the final pop up to end the night.
All four teams have Thursday off before meeting up with Radford on Friday, weather permitting.
Now, as the Late, Great Paul Harvey would say – Now you know the rest of the story…
