Quiet TimeMy teammates β€ tonight as we Celebrated Miss Carlie Beamer !
Looking forward to the remaining Home π‘ games at Cavalier Park as working with Macie Adkins, Kevin Burress, Kevin Lineberry and Tammy Tobler is quite enjoyable. I know that neither game tonight went the way of the Lady Cavaliers but we did our best to make the evening enjoyable for all at Cavalier Park.
Very special Thank You π to the players that presented me a Plant and a Card to take π‘π π‘ to the Mrs as she recovers from her Surgery.
We also celebrated the Life of Coach Tobler on what would have been his 55th Birthday!
The evening, minus a brief shower during the Junior Varsity game versus Fort Chiswell, could not have gone much better, other than the outcome of the games themselves.
The Junior Varsity team opened the evening with a rematch against the Pioneers of Fort Chiswell. FCHS would win the contest 16-3 in four innings but there were some highlights for the Lady Cavaliers.
Molly Montgomery went 2 of 3 in the leadoff spot while both Brea Campbell and Addison Lineberry reached base in all three plate appearances. Campbell plated two of the three runs.
Skyler White went 1 for 1 with a run scored after replacing an injured Kiley Lineberry behind home plate.
Fort Chiswell. 262 6 – 16
Carroll County 101 1 – 3
In the nightcap, Addie Greene headed to the circle π΅ for Coach Rick Nester and ran into some first inning trouble. By the time Carroll County recorded the third out on a strike out, they trailed 4-0.
Over the remaining six innings, Greene and Company were nothing short of lights out. The Sophomore ended the game by retiring 13 consecutive hitters, allowing just two singles after the four hit first inning.
Natalie Burress led the offense by going 3 of 4 with two runs scored. Five other Lady Cavaliers collected five hits and Greene scored the third run for the home team. Laiken Burnett stroked a RBI double and Laynie-Jo Leonard recorded a two run single in the bottom of the third when Carroll County pulled within 4-3.
Glenvar did not have a base runner the rest of the way while the Lady Cavaliers managed four more in the late innings. In the bottom of the fourth Emma Harman reached on a two out double and Burress reached on an infield single but Glenvar escaped the rally without the tying run reaching home plate.
Raylee Goins led off the sixth inning with a double but was stranded on second base.
The teams remain off until May 6th when they make the trek up I-81 to Buchanan to face James River High School.
Coach Nester took the time to share his thoughts on what Carlie Beamer has meant to his program over the past four seasons.
Coach Nester :
” First of all, I would like to say thank you to the Mr. and Mrs. Beamer you guys have done an awesome job and raising one of the finest young ladies to ever come through here at Carroll County Softball. I have had the pleasure and honor to be able to coach Carlie for the past four years she has been instrumental in all aspects of the CCHS Cavalier softball program. I look forward to following Carlie success at Southwest community college she will be greatly missed here, but I am sure that she will be a valuable country contribution to their program just like she is here. We will miss you but again to Carlie thank you very much for being one of the best to come through here. Thanks again.”
Britt Berrier led the offensive attack, Cody Reece was lights out on the mound and the Cavalier defense made every play there was to make in the teams latest victory, 6-0 over Glenvar.
The team remains undefeated in the Three Rivers District with the victory over the Highlanders and the team hasn’t lost since back on March 21st at Pulaski County.
Berrier proved to be a spark plug from his leadoff spot as the Senior went three for three, including a double, one run scored and two RBIS. Reece helped his own cause by going two of three from the plate with a RBI.
On the mound, the Senior went the distance, allowing just two base hits and one walk while striking out seven Highlanders on the evening.
Burcham is receiving contributions from everyone on his roster and that was the case once again Thursday. Five different Cavaliers scored the six runs and four Cavaliers accounted for the five runs driven in.
“I thought we did a good job tonight of keeping pressure on Glenvar offensively,” said Burcham. ” We ran the bases well and had a great approach at the plate.”
The thing that doesn’t necessarily show up in the box score each night is that the team is cohesive and enjoy playing the game as a team.
” Cody had another phenomenal game on the mound. Did a great job mixing pitches early in counts through the middle innings, and located his fastball very well,” added Burcham. ” I couldnβt be prouder of our effort tonight.”
In the Junior Varsity game at Glenvar, the amazing start for the Adam Nester coached team hit its first speed bump. The Cavaliers suffered their first loss on the season, 5-4 in eight innings.
Both teams will remain off until May 6th when they are set to make their annual trip up to Buchanan to face the Knights.
They both will return to action π¬ on the 8th with Varsity playing at Bill Worrell Field and the Junior Varsity team heading to Grayson County.
Breaking News – Glenvar High School π« excels on the Soccer β½οΈ pitch! The Highlanders came to Tommy Thompson Field and swept our Boys π¦ teams Thursday night.
Casey Burcham and his Burcham Bunch defeated Glenvar 6-0.
We knew the undefeated start by the Nester Nine JV Baseball team would end at some point and it did tonight, 5-4 in eight innings.
Junior Varsity Softball was the only team competing Thursday night that wasn’t facing Glenvar. The Lady Cavaliers fell 16-3 in four innings at Cavalier Park.
Varsity Softball celebrated Senior Day for Carlie Beamer ahead of their game with Glenvar and the ceremony took place in front of a nice sized crowd despite the threat of rain π§.
Glenvar High won the game 4-3 over the Lady Cavaliers.
The only results we are lacking are the Tennis πΎ Results as the Girls played at Home π‘ and the Boys π¦ at Glenvar. When we have the results, we will add them right here.
