Next Stop βœ‹for the Lady Paladins is the Cherokee Center in Ashville on Thursday afternoon at 5:45 pm! Welcome to the SoCon Tournament….

Alyssa Ervin and Furman University closed out their regular season on a high note πŸ“ Saturday afternoon and it turns out their victory over Wofford prevented their guests from winning the SoCon crown πŸ‘‘ outright.

The victory was a vital one for a number of reasons for Coach Pierre Curtis and the team. While they appeared to be headed for the #4 seed in the tournament, they had dropped two straight home games heading into the contest with the Terriers. In both cases the outcome was decided by just a few minutes of action late in the game.

Nobody wanted to head to Ashville on a three game losing streak, especially when all three were played in the Timmons Arena

Another cause for celebration in this one was the dominant second half (35-16) against a team that had a great deal to play for. Curtis had to smile about the fact that four of his players finished up in double figures, led by Clare Coyle with yet another double – double.

Thursday, in the fourth and final game of the day, the will square off with Mercer (#5 seed). The two teams split during the regular season with each winning in the others building. Mercer was one of the two teams that just defeated the ‘Dins but that game was a bit deceiving.

February 21st shows an 80 – 63 victory for Mercer but it came when the Bears 🐻 closed the game on an 18-2 run after it was 62-61. Again, another reason that finishing up strong πŸ’ͺ against Wofford was so important.

Fourth place in the league but only one win away from sharing the title with the other three teams. Not a bad year for a group that is still getting comfortable with their roles !

Ervin finished up with double figures in scoring in 21 of the 29 games during the season, including five games of 20+. The smile returned and playing with an edge did as well !

Thursday night at 5:45 pm…..

Two stories about things that are right in the World 🌎 as Vickey Ritchie is in the middle of a wacky weekend and Beth Bouldin brings up the fascinating πŸ‘ story about Legos !

Thank You Beth Bouldin for bringing this to my attention! I remember the day a while back,  that Allen Worrell was heading out of the office 🏒 and heading to the School 🏫 to work on a feature story.

It turns out that last night one of the local news stations took the time to create a piece on the local Kiddos and there teachers. Great news that a TV πŸ“Ί Station is still willing to do a human interest story and even better that involved young ones from The Hill !!!

Thank You Beth and Thank You πŸ™ to the educators that made this possible ❀.

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ to the Students who were featured and kudos to the dedication to your kraft !

Friday Night πŸŒ™, Vickey Ritchie gathered up some of the Carroll County Special Olympics Basketball πŸ€ players and headed up to the Men’s ODAC tournament where they played hoops during one of the breaks !

While up in the Star 🌟 City, they snuck by Sam’s to stock up on food and drinks for the Day long event being played Sunday at Virginia Tech.

Up the interstate, down the interstate, up the interstate, the wheels on the Bus 🚌 go round and round might be appropriate !

Sunday morning πŸŒ„ at 7am is when the Team is set to leave The Hill for the journey to the Land of Hokies !

Maybe, Vickey can catch a Nap along the way!

ODAC !

The Morning πŸŒ„ Brew for the last Day of February is filled to the brim ! Welcome to Moving Day in a number of areas…

Morning πŸŒ„ Brew
The official calendar for the School is blank but……

Alyssa Ervin and Furman University is guaranteed at least one post season tournament game on Thursday in Ashville but they are set to close out the regular season today at home.

Meanwhile, the Smoot Brothers would appear to have concluded its season just a short time ago. Information about the Flying Eagles is a little hard to come by at times but we do are best.

On Saturday afternoon and evening, the four teams that we have spent time around for the past 90 days are scheduled to play each other. This is fitting for our last day here.

2pm for the Women in St George and 630pm for the Men in Cedar City

10am – MT – First Pitch for Day 3 of the Beehive Classic Softball Tournament at Utah Tech. Four games slated again today. Also at 10am MT, the Blue Devils and Cavaliers Men play for the #1 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.

Travis Osborne had a BIG Day yesterday and his Bible Verse of the Day:

Proverbs 28:6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball x 2 in New Albany as well.

Have a Blessed Day πŸ™ŒπŸ™.

10 questions that we will ponder as Spring is in the Air on The Hill ! In no particular order…

#10 – How much easier will our Athletic Director Kevin DeHaven breath during his second time around in the Spring? The spring has 12 teams and at times it can feel a bit like the Wild, Wild West !

#9 – What can Casey Burcham and his dedicated posse do for an encore in season number 2 after checking so many boxes in their first trip around the Sun ?

In nearly five decades of being around High School and College Athletics, I cannot recall one person / one program move the needle in the manner that the Burcham Bunch did last year !

Worrell Field

#8 – Can Rick Nester and his Senior Class bond together and return the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Softball team to its former glory ? Leadership by committee should be the theme for the group.

#7 – Can Corrie Delp complete the High School 🏫 version of the Grand Slam by returning to the State Meet for the fourth straight season ?

#6 – Is this the Spring that Shawn Montgomery and Jon Delp need a bigger vehicle for the drive to the State Track and Field meet ?

Each  of the past 3 years its been Delp +1 but so many others have been right on the cusp. Elijah Smith, Brayden Smoot and last year it was a certain High Jumper that has new digs to practice on !

#5 – After playing QB for the football team and leading scorer for Anthony Barnes, what will Isaiah Easter do with his Spring ?

College choices might be the answer but so would πŸ‘€ seeing him swing a tennis 🎾 racket or kicking the Soccer ⚽️ Ball. Better yet, young Man πŸ‘¨, you can always chill out with us at Cavalier Park!

#4 – Will the greatest Wing Man πŸ‘¨ in all ‘da business be able to do his share this Spring at Cavalier Park ?

The World 🌎 is a Better Place with Kevin Burress in it !

#3 – Will Sophomore Dakota Walls manage to capture a Checkered Flag 🏁 or two this Spring ?

Velvet Leonard Photo πŸ“·

Dakota has added a second car πŸš— to his garage and is kicking off his season down in North Carolina on Sunday , March 8th

#2 – Both Adrienne Harris McGuire and Forrest Johnson ( Jeremy Puckett and Brittany Kinney) ended last Spring with some home Pitch MOJO. Can this hard working πŸ’ͺ foresome be able to build on it with a full season on the Tommy Thompson Field Soccer Pitch ?????

Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer ⚽️

#1 – Drum Roll Please – How many times this Spring will someone approach either Mr Chuck Thompson or Mrs Tammy Quesenberry just to say, ” Thank You for what you do for our Community “?

Start the count at 1 each !

What does the Spring hold for me ?

I have committed three things for the season. To help out Rick Nester at Cavalier Park and do anything possible to assist Shawn Montgomery & Jon Delp.

The third thing is not to bother the folks that don’t want any attention for their programs.

Accident that Tammy had a bigger picture πŸ“· than Mr Thompson….

Welcome πŸ™ to Friday, February 27th where our Morning πŸŒ„ Brew includes some Travis Osborne 😎 humor…..βž• a heads-up on Spring coverage

School calendar is officially blank but its the end of the Spring Tryouts week.
Howard Mayo and his Motovational Nugget for the Day :
Travis Osborne and his Bible Verse of the Day :

Galatians 6:9Β And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Bonus Goodie from Mr Osborne !

Todany is Day 89 of 90 out here in the Desert 🏜 and it will include more of the 2026 Beehive Classic College Softball tournament! The first of four games gets underway at 10:00 am MT.

Very important note πŸ“ about the 12 Spring teams about to get started for Carroll County High School 🏫.

We will gather and share information about the teams that choose to participate with us. Nobody is under any obligation to interact with us and while what we offer is a safe space to promote their programs and Student Athletes, Nobody has to be a part of it.

We will be pulling for all 8 Varsity teams and 4 Junior Varsity teams from start to finish and let’s not forget that we have Middle School kiddos and coaches competing as well.

Have yourself a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ
