Welcome to the Weekend, one full of some Soccer ⚽️ up in the Blacksburg area

Saturday morning πŸŒ„

Quick reset for folks who might be new to our site. Here are 10 things readers should know for the experience to make more sense.

  1. Everything on the site has to be 100% positive.
  2. Everything on the site is free for the taking, including any photos that make you smile.
  3. This site is one of four sites under the umbrella πŸŒ‚ of OneofUs.Care and is set up to 100% Carroll County.
  4. While the content is All Carroll County, it doesn’t mean that it covers All things happening in Carroll County. While we are willing to share any good news presented to us, not everyone has an interest in participating and respect their wishes.
  5. The Hill – this is my effort to give our Student Athletes and Community a bonus sense of pride. Having spent a few years announcing at App State, where everyone refers to it as The Rock, the idea πŸ’‘is to give folks an extra dose of being proud of who we are.
  6. Emojis – What is up with the use of all these Emojis??? It’s to make sure that I never take myself to serious. The idea πŸ’‘ here is to have fun and make people smile, the reason this is a good natured Blog and not a ” News ” outlet.
  7. The relationship between myself and Allen Worrell at The Carroll News. I have spent almost 50 years now in the Newspaper πŸ“° business and it has a place in my Heart ❀ that will never dissolve. Ink in my Blood would be a way to describe it. Allen and I work together well and one of our goals is to NEVER write ✍ the same story. A great example this week was Wrestling Coach West Long, Allen covered his efforts in an official Newspaper fashion so when I visited with West it was about entertaining the readers.
  8. We currently have three bigger projects in the works. We are trying to wrap up our recently completed High Jump project, planning what we hope will be a great time at Cavalier Park on September 13th with our Softball community and finally, trying to get all the information people want to have included in our fourth and final Sports related book πŸ“–.
  9. Diamonds πŸ’Ž are a Girls Best Friend is the title of said book and if you see those words at the beginning of a Post πŸ“«, its going to be part of the book. This one will have three parts – 1/3 covers how and why Cavalier Park came to be, 1/3 covers Alan Knight and his 40+ years at Page County High School Softball and the final 1/3 covers various short stories about my life in Baseball ⚾️. The subtitles are Cavalier Park : Cause and Effect, Page County Softball : Tradition Never Graduates πŸŽ“ and finally, 50 Shades of Baseball, as it will have 50 short stories about America’s Pastime.
  10. People who I consider already a Big Part of our Team. Marion Harris ( Girls Soccer, Volleyball), Kevin Burress and Macie Adkins in Softball, Donna Nester,, Mama Smoot, Ron Cochran, Velvet Leonard,Kris Richardson, Rick Nester, Ron Cochran, Allen Worrell, Shannon Dalton, Vickey Ritchie, Greg Talley and the Lady πŸ‘© who shares the vision, Mrs. Tammy Quesenberry. Great relationships with Coaches include Nester, Cindy Edwards, Shawn Montgomery, Adrienne Harris, Howard Mayo and West Long. In closing, really respect both Seth Greer and Casey Burcham, love working with Kevin DeHaven and Principal Thompson is the Bomb πŸ’£

Up top, I mentioned Soccer ⚽️ that is taking place this weekend up I-81. Marion Harris and two of our current Lady Cavs are up there ( Callie ” Half Pint ” Harris and Miss Alexis Sheffey. This is a great example of an event that is taking place that wouldn’t make it into the Carroll News but means something just the same.

Throughout the weekend we will share more about the event because we have someone who is part of the efforts. Take a Penny, Leave a Penny mind set.

Hopefully, anyone just joining us can grasp what they have stumbled upon!

Have yourself a Blessed Weekend πŸ™Œ

Mr Craig Worrell possesses MAD SKILLS
UVA and App both have Morning Brews newsletters now

Welcome πŸ™ to a New Reader ! Hope you enjoyed your visit with us…

Our site sends out notifications when something happens to the stats on a given day. Sometimes it a bunch of people checking in but this time it showed someone reading πŸ“š for an extended amount of time.

While it doesn’t inform me who it was, I still wanted to say Welcome just the same. Sure hope you enjoyed the reading.

Stories in the hopper – Eddie Vaughn and Stephen Puckett in their roles at Gate Keepers of Cavalier Park. Plus, Principal Thompson and his version of the Green Monster πŸ‘Ή.

Closing with one quick explanation – the earlier reference to Rick Nester having a demanding Boss was directed towards Kris Richardson, not his beautiful wife, Donna Nester !

Mr. Kevin Burress – Here’s your mission, if you choose to except it !

Mr Kevin Burress !

Β Β  Just now made it back to the Cows πŸ„ out here in Laurel Fork after a non-stop βœ‹ day in the Big City that I choose to call The Hill.

Marion Harris, Kevin Burress, Ron Cochran, Stephen Puckett, Plucky Sidekick Broyles and his Assistant are some of the characters that make up today’s stories. Notice that Rick Nester is NOT on the list, because he has a very demanding BOSS that keeps him hopping.

Starting with Kevin Burress, my partner in All Things Cavalier Park, and the tasks he will handle at our Event on September 13th. The key πŸ”‘ to being the Executive Producer of an event or show is making sure that you accomplish two things.

First – included EVERYONE that wants to partake and Second – never ask someone to do something that takes them out of their comfort zone.

Thankfully, Burress is somebody who has a wide comfort zone ! It’s one of the reasons why we were meant to work together anytime we can. Plus our ability to serve others without ego, the example being teaming up as equal partners.

I am over the moon πŸŒ™ excited about the musical 🎼 experience that will kick off the Day. So anytime another person is willing to step out of their comfort zone, you owe it to them to do the same.

So when you see Burress πŸ‘€ and myselfΒ  don a wig to play the role of Solid Gold Back-up Dancers during this, know that my Partner and Friend agreed willingly. Later in the day, David Broyles gave us the name, Solid Goal Dancers and I told him that he needed to join us !

Burress means a great deal to the young ladies at Cavalier Park, having Coached many of them along the way. This will make everything he does mean even more to the group because it will all come from the Heart ❀. His beautiful Bride πŸ‘° will love helping him choose his Wig, I’m sure.

Β  Kevin Burress, this is your mission, make a day special for everyone who chooses to come to Cavalier Park. That is, if you choose to except it….

This post πŸ“« will self destruct in 5 seconds……..

Friday afternoon Brain 🧠 Teaser and a Thank You πŸ™ to Mrs. Lawson

Who’s office 🏒 is this ?

Free Hint : He can handle all of your Insurance needs .

Yesterday afternoon we shared a fun photo of the Varsity Volleyball team and we knew that Laiken Burnett was not at practice. What we didn’t realize that Alyssa Lawson had stepped away.

We are so grateful πŸ™ that Mom mentioned that to Marion so we could immediately correct it. Now, if we could find a photo of Alyssa and Laiken together…

If we do something that you like, please tell a neighbor.

If we make an error or oversight, PLEASE tell us!

Welcome πŸ™ to Friday morning πŸŒ„ and later on it will be version #1 of Friday Night Lights πŸŒ™ for the younger Cavaliers

Borrowing from the UVA Cavaliers

Friday Night Lights is a magical time of the year and I don’t believe that anything can bring a Community together more than High School Football.

In my mind, I can hear Allen Iverson saying ” Practice, Practice, we’re talking about Practice”, but Coach Seth Greer and his dedicated staff of Coaches have been working with our Student Athletes all Summer. They are finally getting to put their pads on and board a Bus 🚌 to play against an opponent for the first time this season.

For some of the younger ones, it will be for the first time ever in regards to High School. The number of proud Dad’s that are thinking, ” That’s My Boy ” and the number of Moms who are torn between proud and worried.

Yes, it would be easy to dismiss the relevance of the day by saying that its just a Junior Varsity scrimmage but its so much more than that, especially to the Boys who grew up dreaming about playing High School football one day !

Allen Worrell at The Carroll News is fired up and ready for Football 🏈🏈🏈 season as well. As soon as he catches his breath from the two special sections he is working on, he will be on the Trail, the Trail that officially begins tonight !
