Plus Ashlyn Newman puts the Biscuit in the Basket for Bluefield Soccer ⚽️ in our Saved by the Bell πŸ””:Cavalier College Years

Sister, Sister

Bluefield Rams with a 12-0 win Last night at East River Sports Complex. Rams had 10 different scorers with Ashlyn finding the back of the net in the win.

Have yourself a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ

Let’s call πŸ“ž this one the story about Photo πŸ“· Credits, Pitching in, Teamwork, learning how to say Mrs. McGuire and oh yeah, the Kid shot a 67!

The Photo above came from the camera of a young Lady πŸ‘© that has been Adrienne Harris to me for five years. I am still getting used to her being Mrs. Adrienne McGuire. Our Girls Soccer Coach and her new husband happened to enjoy a round of Golf up there over the weekend. Her photo made its way to me by way of her Dad, Marion.

Let’s back up to 10:58 am today when our hard working Athletic Director, Kevin DeHaven sent a text message to Allen Worrell at the Carroll News and one minute later, one to me. It was an exciting message about the Golf β›³ results from yesterday.

Over the next two hours, both Allen and I started digging into the meet that Radford hosted at The River Course. We worked through various sources to compile a story.

During the prep work. I did get to have a Messenger exchange with some Proud Parents, which made my day!

We scrambled to get the story out to the public and both versions of the amazing day is available for consumption.

Marion circled back to share my lighter take on the day through his Facebook page and Allen Worrell trimmed the story down, as he should. Then he shared the story through the Social media page of the Newspaper πŸ“°.

Life is full of challenges without having people adding to it. Every now and then we get to roll up our sleeves and make a memory for a fellow Cavalier.

So, the official By Line should read : Kevin DeHaven, Adrienne Harris McGuire, Allen Worrell, OneofUs.Care and unnamed sources.

None of this happens if the tall lanky Senior carded a 67 and three of his fellow Cavaliers all landed in the 80’s. This combination led to a second place finish for the team and a fun couple of hours for some folks that needed a break from reality.

Except for Mrs. McGuire, who was busy teaching her Kindergarten class at Hillsville Elementary School 🏫..

Help Wanted : Always looking for ways to support Mr Shawn Montgomery and his Cross Country runners πŸƒβ€β™‚️

Every meet that the teams compete in Coach Montgomery will send me the name and results of EVERY runner for both the High School and the Middle School that day.

Β  What I’m trying to do is add Art to the Post πŸ“« because it brightens it up considerably.

Β  If you have a Runner πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ and make it to a meet, I welcome any Photo you would like to share. Please include a solo Pic of your reason for being there !

  Thursday, Thursday, Thursday !!!

Trace Reavis as Batman, Camden DeHaven as Robin but this time our Dynamic Golfing Duo had other Super Hero Friends as the Cavaliers team captures Runner – Up in Three Rivers District meet on Monday !

Pete Dye and The River Course at Virginia Tech University has brought many a golfer πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈto their knees since they started play on  the easy on the eyes layout.

Yesterday afternoon, Carroll County High School Senior Trace Reavis shot a blistering -5, 67 on the 7,000 yard course.

Reavis is finishing up a magnificent stay on The Hill over his four years, with an eye on returning to the State Tournament at seasons end. His Junior year concluded with a 10th place finish at Heritage Oaks in Harrisonburg.

Reavis finished as co-medalist with Floyd’s Isaiah Cantrell.

While the 67 alone makes it a great day for the Cavaliers, Reavis had plenty of help from his teammates.

Dynamic Duo being honored last season during a Home Volleyball match.

Camden DeHaven carded an eight over par 80 to place second for Carroll County and right behind him was fellow Cav, Fisher McMillian with an 81. The fourth score that counted came off the clubs of Adison McCraw (87).

While the individual achievements for Reavis have become the norm, the second place finish in the seven team District meet brings back memories of past glory days for the program.

The team will make a quick return to the links tomorrow when they return up Interstate 81 to challenge Glenvar High School at Hanging Rock Golf Course.

Team Results :

Floyd County 292

Carroll County 315

Radford 319

James River 328

Patrick County 339

Glenvar 341

Martinsville 364 ( replaced Alleghany)

Trace Reavis after his Top 10 finish at the State Tournament last fall.

Fun add on for the golfers reading this story. If you teed off at The River Course and played until you hit the ball 67 times, what hole would you make it to ?

Cavalier Golf β›³ – We Ain’t Afraid of No River!! Well done team !!

That personal note πŸ“ lands below the final photo πŸ“· incase Allen Worrell runs the story…
