Let’s call πŸ“ž this one : Ten Good Minutes with Anthony Barnes, Isaiah Easter and Blake Reed !

Head Coach Anthony Barnes and Middle School Coach Darian Brown

A few days ago the Three Rivers District announced their First Team and Second Team selections and some impressive looking graphics were seen bouncing around. It would have been easy enough to grab a copy of one of them, crop it and slap it on the page, then call it a day.

Sadly enough, taking the easy way out doesn’t benefit the program that Coach Anthony Barnes pours his heart and soul into.

My goal is to support any Coach on The Hill that cares about his or her Student Athletes. Barnes certainly βœ”s that Box πŸ“¦.

What would it take to package something that would sparkle in the eyes πŸ‘€ of the readers and the future Cavaliers ?

Here’s what it would look like :

Ten questions total and I would ask both Mother ( Vickie Easter and Samantha Reed) to submit their favorite photo of their Son, at any age.

Here’s the 10 Questions, that we would ask and let the players answer βž• ones for Coach Barnes.

Isaiah Easter – congratulations on being named First Team All – District. Do you have a favorite memory from your journey from an undersized Freshman who was called up at the end of the season until the end ?

Isaiah Easter – if you could go back in time and talk to yourself as an 8th grader about playing Basketball for Anthony Barnes, what would you say ?

Isaiah Easter – final question for you. If you were given five minutes with an AAU player or Middle School player about what it means to have Carroll County High School on your chest, what would you say to them ?

Anthony Barnes – you Coached Easter on Varsity now across four years, what part of his growing up has impressed you the most ?

Follow up for Coach – if your phone rang and it was a College coach inquiring about Easter, what would you say ?

Blake Reed – Congratulations on making the second team All – District.

Blake – what would you say was the biggest adjustment this year as you went from Junior Varsity to Varsity ?

Blake – you played this season as the Robin to Easter’s Batman, what did you take away from his leadership on and off the court ?

Final question Blake – do you believe that you have the confidence to be a team leader next year and if so, what do you see as the key πŸ”‘ to doing so ?

Coach Barnes – each season you say goodbye to a group of Seniors that gave you everything they have. Tell us what was special about this group ?

Final question for Coach – if you had one thought process that you could stamp into the minds of the returning players, what would it be ?

Wow, it would be easy enough to just move forward from this season but Coach isn’t looking for the easy way out.

Whether we can create the moment or not will be seen soon enough. If not, we do have a slick graphic !

Carroll County weather this morning πŸŒ„ has two interesting takes from two local Ladies with a sense of humor !

This is the craziest weather I’ve ever seen here. Usually we would blame Presleys Mom because she does snow dances and she likes snow, but she is on a cruise so it can’t be her.

Tales from the Softball Diamond πŸ’Ž after the two older teams complete their pre – seasons.

Varsity Coach Rick Nester and his Lady Cavalier 11 headed over to Bassett High last night while Terry Warf and the Junior Varsity team hosted the Bengals at Cavalier Park.

” Over the winter we were stressing to our players that we wanted them to be more aggressive at the plate,” said Nester. ” The past two days showed that they were listening and took the message to heart.”

George Wythe at home on Tuesday and the trip across US – 58 yesterday afternoon gave the Varsity team amble time outside ahead of the questionable weather headed our way.

For the Junior Varsity team, the jamboree at Tazewell last week and the scrimmage last night has Coach Warf excited about the new season.

” Terry had nothing but good things to say after their time at Cavalier Park,” added Nester. ” Coach said that his group is also swinging the bats well.”

There was an off – season message to the two returning Varsity pitchers as well as both Emma Harman and Addie Greene return to the circle πŸ”΅.

” The focus there is also about taking the game to the opponent,” noted Nester. ” We want them to challenge each hitter from pitch one in hopes of putting them on the defensive when in the batters box.”

Both teams are set to open the season at Cavalier Park next Wednesday evening when Galax travels to The Hill. The Maroon Tide is hopeful that they will be able to field a JV team this season after not being able to in the past.

Floyd County will be the team in the Three Rivers District that will not have a JV team this season.
