Here’s what we know at 1am – Track π£ and Field teams will compete on Thursday afternoon instead of today.
We know that the Middle School Softball game will be rescheduled
Our Athletic Director, Mr DeHaven will be a very busy Man π¨ today and we will try and offer up the changes as they are announced throughout the day.

On a personal note π, last Wednesday after I returned from West Virginia Tech I made a number of stops β to check in with a handful of people in town. Sadly, at some point, my wallet fell out of my car. The trip to the DMV and replacing the credit cards was finished yesterday afternoon but the wallet itself still is of personal value to me. If someone stumbles across a worn out wallet ( almost 50 years old ), I will happily find $100.00 for its return.
Have yourself a Blessed Day π and we will keep you updated on the schedule changes.
Bill Worrell Field
Meanwhile, down at Cameron Indoor Stadium, there will be a play-in game tonight. The Men have their four up in Dayton each year but the Women have theirs in the same building that the winner will play in.
The winner of Richmond versus Nebraska will play against Baylor on Friday afternoon.
Eddie Walls ( CCHS Graduating class 1984) learned his way around a race track at an early age. Rumor has it that current CCHS Boys Basketball Head Coach, Anthony Barnes ( Fort, 1989) traded paint with Eddie back in the day.
Eddie was looking for a way to keep his young Son out of trouble throughout his teenage years and came up with a plan that involved Dakota Walls not only racing a car but being responsible for the marketing and sponsorship.
When I first stumbled upon this story I was conversing with a Middle School student who wasn’t old enough to legally drive a car on the road.
Fast Forward to year three of our relationship, I can tell you that when Dakota is zipping around the race track with our Logo on his hood its top shelf exciting for me. While I do not attach my name to anything that I create / write, our Logo means the World to me because of what it stands for.
Dakota is two races π into his Sophomore year at Carroll County High School ( Class of 2028??) and as the clip above shows, our young Cavalier currently sits atop the Points standings for his division at the Caraway Speedway
Sophia, North Carolina
On Thursday afternoon, Dakota is going to take a break from racing π and for the third time in three years, he will offer us his Car for some crossover promotion.
Year One it was Cindy Edwards and Lady Cavaliers Volleyball π and the second time around it was Rick Nester along with the Lady Cavaliers Softball.
On Thursday afternoon, moved back from Wednesday afternoon due to Mother Nature, we will look to accomplish a few things in the name of Track(s) and Field !
This schedule β the known schedule for Dakota Walls Racing will both appear on the poster that we will create after the Photo of our Track and Field teams wrapped around Dakota Walls and his Race Car.
What would this look like ?
Knowing that we need to replace the track and that I couldn’t make that happen, I did ask Coach Montgomery what would be the second line on a Wish List for his program?????
The answer was having a new High Jump area and that was something that we could accomplish ! Very proud of our efforts to know that simply could not have happened without Hagen Giles at Olde Mill Golf Resort, Tammy Quesenberry and Samantha Reed. The copy of the Umbrella π ad that we ran in the Carroll News shows the names of everyone who helped us make that a reality.
Thursday afternoon will be the only time that our Track and Field teams will compete at Tommy Thompson Field. We desperately want to let them know that we see them, cheer for them both on Thursday and once they become Road Warriors.
We get to publicly say Thank You π one final time to everyone who jumped on board with the High Jump area project and through the kindness of Eddie Walls and his Son, Dakota, we will try hard to create a Kodak moment for them.
Speaking of Big Names, we will have two of the Brightest Photographers / former Track stars π. I didn’t know that both Velvet Leonard ( Class of 1991- North Surrey ) and Craig Worrell competed in Track and Field back in their day. Craig even has High Jump experience !
Brendan Farris is back to lead the Cavaliers as he will be looking for a second straight trip to the State meet and we are hoping π that his new digs will help make that happen….
We are trying hard to accomplish many things on Thursday afternoon and we would love π for you to stop β by and with our troops well, greet Dakota Walls and see our new High Jump area in use.
Admission is Free
Photos begin at 315 but will end with the group photo π· at 3:45 to allow the Student Athletes plenty of time to get ready to compete.
If only I knew the secret to getting the word out about the Day !
