A look ahead for Anthony Barnes and our Cavaliers tell us that them Dogs πŸ• will hunt! Carroll County is set to enter the Dog Pound in Martinsville Tuesday night πŸŒ™…

Depending upon your view of the Glass, as in half full or half empty, will play into how you feel crossing the Leap tomorrow night.

Martinsville sits atop the Three Rivers District at 6-0 and is 11-3 overall. A closer look at their results will show that all three loses came over the New Year Holiday in a tournament.

Carroll County High will enter the contest at 6-7 and looking to snap a three game slide for the first time in a long while.

If you are a Glass half full type check out the games both played against Glenvar.

January 15th was the night πŸŒ™ that the Bulldogs traveled to the Highlanders and they held on for a 75 – 66 victory. Back on January 6th we hosted and defeated Glenvar 80 – 76.

If you are a Glass half full, know that the only time we didn’t have an opportunity to win in the fourth quarter was against Floyd County (72-44 ) and on January 9th M’V beat the BuffaloπŸƒes 66 -38.

So, if your glass is half Full, get in your car πŸš— with optimism and drive over to the Pound.

If your glass is half empty, get in your car πŸš— and support our Cavaliers with gusto anyway. Be thankful πŸ™ we swapped Martinsville for Alleghany.

The Junior Varsity game tips at 5:30 pm and the younger Pups 🐢 can play too. Martinsville sits at 8-2 and will prove a challenge for Ryan Phillips and our team of the future.

Happy Birthday to Martin Luther King Junior as we start the Holiday with our Morning πŸŒ„ Brew

Β  The weather on The Hill becomes more relevant than normal the next few days as we are now in the week of The Classic.

Vickey Ritchie always has a back up plan incase we have bad weather on the Sunday and this year is no different. The event is slated for January 25th with a backup date of February 2nd.

We kinda need it to not snow this weekend so Lin and I can be there for the Big Day as we are set to fly back out on the 26th. So if anyone has a way to reach out to Mother Nature…..PLEASE do !

Furman University maintains its spot in the SoCo standings after a textbook 2nd half against Western Carolina ! Highlight of the latest victory has to be the chase down blocked 🚫 shot by our Alyssa Ervin !

There’s a thought process in life that one should not go grocery shopping when you’re hungry because it can lead to throwing a bunch of things in the basket that weren’t on the list.

By comparison, Alyssa Ervin showed up at Timmons Arena Saturday in the Basketball equivalent of starving because our former Lady πŸ‘© Cavalier was doing a little of everything for the Paladins !

Minutes played : 34

Points scored : 17

Rebounds corralled : 7

Blocked 🚫 Shots – 3

Starting Lineup βœ”βœ…

Voted Player of the Game βœ”βœ…

Not sure about the old line about selling popcorn during halftime but I believe that she covered everything else for Coach Curtis Pierre.

Once again, Ervin had plenty of help as Furman finished the game with five players scoring in double figures.

Two things that have to jump off the page is that when WCU scored the opening basket 🧺 of the second half, they led 28-18. Furman outscored them 51-10 the rest of the contest, playing quite possibly the perfect 20 minutes of Hoops. 51-10 is bananas🍌 🍌.

The second thing took place in the final minute of the third quarter with just 33 seconds remaining and the game still in doubt at 46 – 33. WCU was on a fast break and somehow Ervin chased down the Catamount, finishing the play with a picture perfect blocked shot. One that belongs on an instructional video πŸ“Ή about not giving up on a play.

Not sure what all Coach said at the break that led to a 51-10 second half but I hope he took notes.

The Paladins will hit the road this week and play their next three contests on the road. Hopefully they will receive πŸ™ good news on the injury front as two of their key πŸ”‘ players are out right now.

The team is the definition of young with double digits of players that are Freshman and Sophomores. They were picked to finish near the bottom of the eight team league but for now, they are liking their view in the standings.

Just to show that Ervin was actually human yesterday afternoon, her 79% Free Throw percentage dropped slightly after finishing 5 of 9 from the stripe.

Thursday night in Macon, Georgia…..
