Home games for the Girls π§ and a trip up US-52 for the Boys π¦ is on the calendar π for Carroll County Hoops today.

Christiansburg will be the opponent today for Head Coach Howard Mayo and Fort Chiswell for Head Coach Anthony Barnes. Both double headers are slated to start at 5:30 / 2:30.

Very excited about Duke getting rewarded for their 9-3 season with a trip to a top tier Bowl π₯£. Ole Miss will be a heavy favorite in the game but its the Gator Bowl !!
January 2nd in Jacksonville will plug in nicely between Houston and the Bahamas π§πΈ.

Also very, very excited to have Bill Gallimore join our ” Crack Staff “. Mr. Gallimore has been a long time reader and now he’s taken the natural next step πΆββοΈ!!

Here’s a Photo π· of Mr. Bill, if he were a Moose….
The surroundings have switched from just North of the Canadian Border to just South as this week its the San Juan Islands π that we will be calling π‘. This was home for the 7 years leading up to Laurel Fork.
Photos π· from Swimming πββοΈ and a Player Profile on Bryce Smoot will be added here in the next bit.

Finally, yesterday was the Biggest Health Day of the trip so far !
Have yourself a Blessed Monday !

Elon University (Alyssa Ervin) will take to the Court later today at East Carolina University. Meanwhile both Elijah Cox (Randolph) and Katie Lam (Roanoke) were in action π¬ yesterday.

Both squads came up a little short in ODAC action but Cox finished his game with a season high 10 points.

We will swing back around at the end of the day to add the results of the Elon University game.

Alyssa finished with 6 minutes played and 3 points scored. Their next stop β is Los Angeles…

We have made it back to the good ole USA πΊπΈ ! Quick stop β just across the Border to watch some Women’s College Hoops between host Western Washington University and Seattle Pacific University.

WWU scored 28 points in the opening 10 minutes to double up the Falcons 28-14.
SPU settled down to take the second frame 17-14 and trail by 11 points at the Half.

The Vikings Men just recently claimed the D2 National Championship, actually recently might be strong as it was 2012.
The School has 13 Nattys total with 10 of them coming in Women’s Rowing.

I will get started on the Big 3 mentioned above and produce anorther Player Profile for Anthony Barnes here in the next bit.
8:02 pm / 11:02 pm – Good to be Back….

End of the 3rd quarter with the Vikings up 68-49.
26 points in 10 minutes with at least 6 3-pointers made along the way.
WWU has five players already in double figures with Demi Dykstra leading the way with 20.
#1 – Olivia Wikstrom now has 21. Balanced attack !!!
77-56 TO, 5:35 (4)….
Clemson and SMU 31-31 in final minute. Mustangs 17-0 in 4th quarter.
Wrapping up here, final 90 seconds with WWU up 81-65.

The moment that Duke scored its Walk-Off Touchdown to defeat Wake Forest I turned to Trenton Miller and said ” Pop Tarts “!
Duke University is about to go Bowling π³ for just the 11th time in my 61 years. The last second victory over the Deamon Deacons allowed the team to finish 9-3 on the year and all but clinched a Top Three Bowl π₯£ for just the second time.
Orlando (Pop Tarts), San Diego (Holiday) and Jacksonville (Gator) are the upper echelon spots and things looked very, very promising at 4pm last Saturday afternoon.
We just needed Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame and SMU to handle their business or at least three of the four.
if three of those four made the 12-team Playoff then Duke going big time would be a LOCK π

On the walk πΆββοΈ back to the Car π. Clemson gave up a Touchdown on 3rd and 20 to South Carolina in the final minute of play to lose to the Gamecocks. Felt bad for Dabo and his Tigers π (9-3) but we still had hope.
The Fighting Irish fall into our (ACC) Bowl π₯£ pool if they don’t make the Big Dance. Southern California played them tough but our former Quarterback, Riley Leonard capped off their 11-1 season. Put a check β in that Box π¦.
SMU (11-1) took care of California without much of a struggle. β π¦#2
Miami (10-2) jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Syracuse (9-3) in the Dome and all was right in the World π.
Texas A & M took our Coach, Notre Dame our QB, North Carolina State our top Running Back and three solid players headed off to the National Football League. There was little hope of winning six games this season, let alone nine and we were closing in on a Big Game.
Syracuse was the only team that could catch Duke and Clemson at 9-3 so an Orange π victory would be a double setback. So naturally Syracuse scored six Touchdowns on The U and suddenly led 42-35.
Miami had a 1st and Goal from the 4 yard line with a chance to tie π it at 42-42 but deceived to settle for a Game Losing Field Goal. The U had one job, borrowing from ESPN.
SMU (11-1), Miami (10-2) and Clemson, Duke and Syracuse (9-3). That is the Cream of the league this season. If two go to the 12 then the other 3 get the Goodies !
Miami also lost to right to play SMU in the ACC Championship Game later today. The winner of Clemson – SMU gets our one Guaranteed spot with Miami appearing to be the first team left out.
There’s talk of SMU getting the boot π’if they lose to Clemson. 11-2 and regular season champs πwouldn’t be enough for the Mustangs ???
Charlotte , New York City and El Paso are the 3 Bowls π₯£ just below the Big 3. We have played in all three recently and while they are nice enough places to visit……
San Diego (27th), Orlando (28th), NYC (28th), El Paso (31st), Jacksonville (2nd) and finally Charlotte (3rd). Those are the six options and later this weekend we will find out where we will be heading, Fingers Crossed !!!
Congratulations π to Boise State for punching their ticket π last night. They are 12-1 and the only loss was to #1 Oregon.
