 * Wednesday was a wash out with Stuarts Draft of the RCBL. The same was true last night when we looked to host Rockbridge in the season opener. Don’t forget the washed out Home Run Derby back on the night of the Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

With all of that said, we should finally celebrate the 1ST pitch of Team Waynesboro here in just a moment. Down at Casey Field in Covington, Va. Big night for our skipper Andy Chalot as he returns to face the team he led to the VBL Championship series last year. Andy will be facing 9 Lumberjacks he managed in the summer of 2008.

“All Hail Breaks Loose at Rebels Community Picnic”

We thought we had it bad last night with the lightening and rain, but these pictures sent to us from Melissa and Charlie Dodge seem to indicate that maybe we got off easy in the weather department.

Hail formed piles against the reserved seating down at Rebel Park last night.
It looks like Christmas in June!
It almost looks like snow, on the ground...

There is only one word for this picture: Intense.
The cars dug little trenches in the hail...
This coke can took some serious damage from the hail...

A shot of the Rebels bus. It looks like its like an Italian torte with a garnish of fresh mint... or maybe Im just hungry.
Melissa made a joke that stories of this day would be told to their children, that it would be exaggerated, and the youngns wouldnt believe them. The hail was as big as ice cubes seems a little intense but this looks as though they dumped an ice bucket onto the ground... madness.

A handful of hail.

Another busy day… but this one ends in baseball!

So it’s another busy day here in Waynesboro – lots of last minute things to finish, pick-up, sign for, and all that jazz. But we’re taking a quick break to give ya’ll an update. Some photos from our day:
(Note: Read closely. There are some benefits to reading the captions…)
Our first stop of the day was at Fishburne Military School Park to sign for the food order than came in (at 7 o'clock) this morning.

Look closely and you can see the crinkle-cut fries (Hatfield Fries) and the hot dogs. What you CAN'T see in this picture is the funnel cake, the nachos, the hamburgers, the... wow, this is making me hungry.

Our next stop took us to the Augusta Free Press to visit Chris and Crystal Graham (AKA the Dream Team - we're thinking of making T-shirts).

While visiting with Chris and Crystal, we grabbed a quick snapshot of the gifts the first 500 people that arrive at Friday's game will receive. Pretty shnazzy, no?

Here's a snapshot of one of the signs we've talked so much about - this one lists the visiting team's lineup as well as the line-up for your Waynesboro Generals. I'm pretty pumped about this one. It lists their position in the line-up, their name, the number on their jersey, their position as well as their school. This and two other signs will be permanent fixtures at Fishburne Military School Park this season.
Then it was off to the field to check in with Kurt. We found this cute little guy in the parking lot outside. If you come to the park tonight and correctly identify this creature, you can claim a free hot dog!

We are all so excited for tonight. Our first baseball game. Our first pitch. Our first strike. Our first run. Our first hot dog. Our first funnel cake. Our first hamburger. Our first order of Hatfield Fries. Our first night at the helm of the Waynesboro Generals – not a new team, by any means, but a team with a bit more polish. A team that recognizes its auspicious history while holding its breath for a long, bright future. An organization that we are proud of – an organization we hope all of Waynesboro can continue to stand behind and be proud of, too. Because we couldn’t do it without you.
