Fun exchange with our loyal reader, Mr Bill Gallimore !

The message above came from Mr Gallimore after he read πŸ“š our take on the Devine Intervention in regards to the capturing of the Nester Nine photo πŸ“Έ just seconds after arriving at Bill Worrell Field.

Last night πŸŒ™, after Kris Richardson and I returned from the Best of Preps Banquet in Mt Airy, Boys Soccer ⚽️ was trailing 1-0 late in their match and Varsity Baseball ⚾️ was down 3-1 to Christiansburg on the far side of the building.

Mr Bill asked me if there was help from above on Tuesday night, and here is the answer.

After being held scoreless for roughly 80 minutes without me on the sidelines, our Cavaliers found the back of the net FOUR times in 20 minutes of action 🎬!!!!

I was standing beside SRO Chris Mabry for the longest time in our history together, and during this same time, the Burcham Bunch lit up the Blue Demons 😈 for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on their way to an 8-3 victory!

Yes, Bill Gallimore, God has been on our side once again !

Tonight is as important as it gets on a number of fronts ! James River – Carroll County x 4 with a great deal on the line…

Bill Worrell Field

The baseball ⚾️ doubleheader involves Senior Night πŸŒ™ for the Burcham Bunch. Six more Cavaliers will be playing their final game on The Hill, and there should be plenty of crowd support. Improving the Regional seeding is a priority βž•οΈ the Nester Nine JV team gets to take a curtain call !

Here in a couple of hours, our two Boys Soccer ⚽️ teams will board a bus 🚌 for the trip up to Buchanan, and they have to defeat the Knights to continue playing.

Jeremy Puckett and his 11 will finish up in second place behind Glenvar in the Three Rivers District, and the nightcap will be a win, and you’re in game for Forrest Johnson. The trip back home will either be a joyous one or full of reflection.

For Adrienne McGuire and her Lady Cavaliers, the gap between #6 and a trip to Abingdon or #9 and sitting at home for the post-season is paper thin.

James River defeated the Lady Cavaliers 2-0 up in Buchanan earlier this season, but Carroll County knows what’s at stake.

At Cavalier Park, the JV team will face a juggernaut of a team in the Knights. JRHS is 19 – 2 on the year, according to MaxPreps.

In the nightcap, Rick Nester and his six seniors will be playing the final game of their Cavalier careers. Carroll County enters the night too far removed from the #8 spot to advance to the post-season tournament. This group can still end the year on a high note by besting the Knights.

Four venues with two games each, so whatever your favorite sport is, there are plenty of options to choose from tonight !

The game that wasn’t played on Tuesday night allowed Big Sis to join Half Pint at the Banquet down in Mt.Airy…

Proud Mom and Awesome Big Sister, Shelia Harris, and Adrienne Harris McGuire.

Tuesday night was supposed to be the back half of the Carroll County – Floyd County Girls Soccer ⚽️ series. But as the Lady Buffaloes πŸƒ finished out their initial season, the team chose not to play the match.

Β  Carroll County improved to 11-4-1 on the season with the forfeit win and now head into the season finale versus James River in need of one more victory to clinch a spot in the upcoming Regional tournament.

With no match to play but a monster sized one on Wednesday, McGuire held a practice for her Lady Cavaliers, and then when it concluded, Coach made the drive down to the First Baptist Church β›ͺ️ of Mt.Airy.

McGuire has a wide range of skills in her bag πŸŽ’ and to list them all would take a hot minute or two. But know this about our second year coach, where Adrienne excels the most is in her role as Big Sister to Jan & Half Pint !
