Softball capsule #6 belongs to the only mature adult who works in our Press Box πŸ“¦, Tammy Tobler !

Tammy Tobler will forever be tied to Cavalier Park, and rightfully so. The connection between Tammy and the program began with her late husband, the beloved Jeff Tobler.

Yes, that is how it started, but now Tammy is firming up her own legacy as she continues to love ❀️ and support Rick and Donna Nester βž•οΈ the young ladies who wear the jerseys. Each season, Tammy is faced with a difficult decision on whether to commit another season, and each time she finds the room in her heart, we are all better for her continued kindness.

Crazy colored socks and adorable nick names are just two of the ways that Coach Tobes is still with us. Secretly, Tammy has said she is going to stay with us until she wins a Foul Ball contest.

Kevin Burress and I are rather immature for our age and are always in need of adult supervision. We both feel blessed πŸ™Œ to have our Team Mom watching out for us !

Softball capsule #5 belongs to an impressive young Lady who calls Travis Osborne, Daddy πŸ‘¨

There are a number of similarities between Morgan Osborne and Ava Beamer. The two youngsters are both right-handed pitchers for Carroll County, separated by one grade.

Another connection is the relationship they have with their fathers πŸ‘¨. Morgan has been through the emotional ringer this season as someone who is young shouldn’t have to work through injuries like the ones that Miss Osborne has faced this season.

Faith and Father’s would be a nice tag line for this story and as they say in life, what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger !

I have to add the family photo πŸ“Έ that I use every morning in our A.M. Brew. Neat family, Top to Bottom, those Osbornes are !

0-0 is the score right now in the third inning as Brother Osborne is pulling for his Red Raiders. I am also pulling for TT tonight, but for a different reason. If the Longhorns wins πŸ† it means the season is over. We need one more game !

Please πŸ™ note πŸ“ that the capsules are written in the order that a photo makes its way to me.

Five down, who knows how many to go ?

Softball capsule #4 belongs to Miss Brooke Webb, the one that I thought was really, really smart, but it wasn’t until the very end that the Big Picture came into focus !

Photos πŸ“Έ from Denise Webb

Going to begin this one by sharing the thoughts of Brooke’s Step-Mom…

Being just the bonus of Brooke Webb but watching these girls play…. I think that a possible great story would be one on Natalie Burris and the value of a catcher.Β

Pitchers always seem to get lots of credit but a good catcher can make or break them.Β

Personally I use to sing professionally and I would always get the credit while the accompanist never receives anything…all while knowing who ever was accompanying me could make or break a performance.Β  Just like a catcher could really make a pitchers look bad.Just a random thought from an impartial game watcher πŸ’™

  Thank you, Ma’am

Now, on to Denise Webb. She reminds meΒ  a great deal of my own mother πŸ‘©, who passed away way too early at 69 years of age. Bea Carter was not going to apologize for the depth of her love for any of her five children. That should be the case for all parents but Denise is proud to be the President of the Brooke Webb fan club. I am proud to be a card-carrying member of said club.

Four years of watching πŸ‘€ Brooke play volleyball and softball made it very apparent that the educational force was strong with this one. I thought she was ” sneaky smart,” but towards the end, sneaky was removed from the name.

How smart is she asks the crowd ? She has received a ride to Virginia Tech University, not for softball or volleyball but for her brain. I knew it was big but now I know it’s BIG 🧠🧠🧠🧠!!!

Even in Lynchburg, there’s always time for Softball ! Hey Travis Osborne, you got your TV πŸ“Ί on because TT needs you !

We are closing in on our first pitch of Game 2.  86Β° and 8:10…Play Ball !!!

Scoreless first inning is in the Books πŸ“š

End of 3rd inning, TT leads 1-0 [8:56]

Texas gets a 2-out double in the top of the fourth, tying run in scoring position.

Texas strands two, and we have reached halftime, still 1-0.

Bottom 4th, TT loaded the bases but failed to expand on the 1-0 lead [9:23].

Wow !!!!! What a catch out in left field !!! Running grab with two runs that would have scored for Texas

Are you kidding me with that catch ? Once again, it’s the TT left fielder !!!!

It’s not cool that the go ahead run scores on a misque. Never want anyone to feel bad about a play. Six innings in the books πŸ“š, Texas clinging to a 2-1 lead. [10:04]

Leadoff opposite field bomb πŸ’£ makes it 3-1…

4-1 as we head to the bottom of the 7th inning. Down 3 much more of a hill to climb for the Red Raiders.

10:21 – TT down to final out of a great season.

Good night, and congrats to Texas

Softball capsule #3 belongs to Debbie “B.B.” Odum and her precious Kiddo we like to call Little Debbie !

The B. B. stands for before Burress as back before Mr Burress signed up for better or worse, there was a fun-loving teacher that we tagged D.J. Debbie.

BB and I have shared some ups and downs over the years, for sure. That brings us to her daughter, Miss Bayleigh Allen. Having met what feels like half a million people over the years, I have never met a parent and a daughter that appear to be an extension of the parent more than Debbie and min-me.

That quickly translated to calling her ” Little Debbie.” It doesn’t work if Mom isn’t named Debbie, and that’s a fact.

When I asked Mom πŸ‘© to send in her favorite photo πŸ“Έ of Kiddo, she chose the one we call πŸ“ž, The Look. It took place on her personalized Senior Night πŸŒ™. It was the first time it was said aloud.

Little Debbie has graduated πŸŽ“ and while we wish her well going forward, know this Kiddo, calling you the younger version of Debbie Odum is as high of a compliment I can pay you !
