Welcome πŸ™ to Saturday morning πŸŒ„ and we will declare it to be Corrie Delp Day here in Lynchburg, Virginia as the final Cavalier competes in 2024-2025…

It has certainly been an exciting year for Carroll County High School Athletics and in the next 8 to 10 hours it will come to a conclusion here in Lynchburg at the Class 3 State Track πŸ‘£ and Field meet.

Corrie Delp captured a Regional πŸ†πŸ†πŸ† Championship to bookend the feat with fellow Junior, Trace Reavis in Golf β›³. Reavis capped his year off with a Top 10 finish in the State Tournament at Heritage Oaks in Harrisonburg.

Seth Greer and Company returned the Gridiron 🏈 Cavaliers to the post season in his inaugural year, something that gave The Hill a level of excitement it had been lacking. Cindy Edwards overachieved with as young of a Volleyball 🏐 roster and Shawn Montgomery coached up the Cross Country team that included a Harvard bound runner πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ.

Wrestling Coach West Long sent Samuel Collins to the State meet and four young ladies did the same in a sport that hopes to be officially being sanctioned next year. Howard Mayo returned to lead our Lady Cavaliers Basketball πŸ€ program and Anthony Barnes & Kris Richardson coached the Boys πŸ‘¦ to a rare State Tournament appearance after capturing the District title. Bryce Smoot passed Tee Jackson as the All-Time scoring leader on the Boys side. Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ once again sent a pool full of Cavaliers to Richmond for the State meet and Wyatt Ogle placed in one of his events.

The calendar πŸ“… flipped to Spring and 12 Cavalier teams took to the Diamond πŸ’Ž, tennis courts, Soccer ⚽️ Pitches and Tracks πŸ‘£. We welcomed back Girls Junior Varsity Soccer and a pair of Rookie Coaches combined to lead our Baseball teams to a combined 38-3 mark and two District titles.

Casey Burcham and Adam Nester, along with Adrienne Harris, Brittany Kinney and Christy Shupe each led a Spring program for the first time. We had Stadium seats πŸ’Ί at Cavalier Park, upgraded seating at Bill Worrell Field and The Castle 🏰 on The Hill opened its doors πŸšͺ, providing indoor hitting for decades to come.

Yesterday afternoon, Delp and Brenden Fariss represented Carroll County High School in the State Track πŸ‘£ and Field meet in Lynchburg.

We lost a local Hero when Jeff Tobler passed away unexpectedly in December.

So many things transpired over the School year and now it comes down to one more opportunity for a Student Athlete to participate in a Virginia High School League contest.

It’s hard to separate the Delp Family πŸ‘ͺ from CCHS Track and Field. Jon and Vanetta Delp have five daughters with Corrie being the one currently in the spotlight now

Corrie, Sarah and Emily

Emily participated in the same events and also qualified for the State Meet back in 2022. It truly is the family πŸ‘ͺ business with Dad as one of the coaches.

Today is Corrie Delp Day here in Lynchburg and we are hoping πŸ™ for our final Cavalier to shine !
