Vickey Ritchie received a special invitation from the folks running the event up in Lexington, Virginia and was honored to accept πŸ™ on behalf of her Area 9 Special Olympics Basketball πŸ€.

  Our final destination today is San Antonio, Texas for the Men’s Basketball Final Four but that can wait βœ‹just a bit.

  Lawrence Nesselrodt and our Golden Bears 🐻 are set to play a doubleheader in Beckley against Oakland City.

Macie Adkins and the Flying Eagles are set to host a doubleheader at Southwest Virginia Community College.

Jabin Talley competed for SWCC over in Bristol yesterday afternoon and we hope to track down those results soon.

Special Olympics began in 1968 – July 20th in Chicago, Illinois.

Currently 5,000,000 Athletes participate in 2025. 172 Countries… 100,000 events this year.

After the opening ceremony we marched across the historic campus to Cocke Hall and at 1pm our Area 9 Cavaliers took the court.

1:36 – Game #1 for the Cavaliers is in the books πŸ“š and they are now off until 3:50pm. Dr. David McPherson and D.J. Delp were the playing partners.

1:50 – our next team is the Sure Shots and they are now on the court with Zeke Hicks and Keaton as playing partners.

Up in Beckley, Oakland City leads WVU-T 12-1 in the sixth inning.

Head Coach Casey Burcham βœ”s in with thoughts on his latest victory and a reminder that tomorrows Baseball ⚾️ Camp has been postponed.

We won tonight 3-2 against Alleghany. Cody Reece threw 5 and 2/3 innings, giving up 5 hits and earned runs.

Peyton Spencer closed it out for us pitching an inning and a 1/3 striking out 3.

Cody Reece Homered tonight for his second one of the year, and Ben Phillips had an RBI single.

Friday Night πŸŒ™ Scoreboard was full of twists and turns but everyone was able to compete ! Saturday’s Baseball ⚾️ Camp has been postponed.

West Virginia Tech University Baseball ⚾️ was forced to relocate our game by 50 miles and we managed to pull off a shocking 3-2 victory over league leading Oakland City.

Adam Nester and the Nester Nine improved to 6-0, and it was their five shutout, 6-0 at Alleghany High School.

Casey Burcham and Company defended The Hill, holding Alleghany High at bay. Cody Reece hit a solo Home Run to help build a 3-0 lead and the Cavaliers held on to post another victory.

Down in Tampa, South Carolina is leading Texas 52-41, Midway through the 3rd period. Connecticut versus UCLA is the other National Semi-final.

Friday will be busy with Cavaliers, Golden Bears 🐻 and the Women’s Final Four down in Tampa – remember that Varsity Baseball ⚾️ is now at 6pm

Track and Field Coaches Shawn Montgomery and Jon Delp will lead our Cavaliers teams into action 🎬 today down at Glade Spring High School 🏫.

Casey Burcham and Varsity Baseball ⚾️ will welcome Alleghany to The Hill for a 6:00pm First Pitch while the Nester Nine will put its 5-0 mark on the line up in The Highlands against the always tough Cougars at 5:30 pm.

7:00 pm is the start time down in Tampa as South Carolina faces Texas then Geno and Paige lead the UCONN Huskies against the U.C.L.A Bruins.

Here in Beckley, our Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball team has quite the challenge as league leading Oakland City (10-1) comes to town to open a three game set. First Pitch is set for 2pm today.
