Clearly we have acquired a few new readers in the past few days so I will do a quick reset before getting started. When I attend an event that I know will appear in our Carroll News I have to change my writing ✍ style dramatically or as I like to call it, write a Grown-up story.

This means less humor and more actual reporting. On these nights 🌙 I will write three stories and tonight it will be a Gamer for Allen Worrell, a feature story on Laiken Burnett and a Top Ten List in hopes of making some folks smile.

90 minutes from Home and standing in an 0-2 hole 🕳, our Lady 👩 Cavaliers stormed back to edge Glenvar 3-2. It felt insane in the Gym, even a long way from home on a School 🏫 Night. So before I write a story about the actual match, I will give you my Top Ten Reasons why we Won.

Drum Roll Please….

#10 – Karma , we had Karma on our side because Mama Petty passed out Lolly Pops and the Harris family provided a livestream feed for people that couldn’t attend.

#9 – The combination of parents and JV players on our side of the Gymnasium stayed connected to the match from start to finish. This balanced the noise and energy out!

#8 – My favorite Bus 🚌 Driver is an Excellent Driver (Rainman reference). Marc Motley brought his MoJo in addition to the smooth ride.

#7 – Carroll County collected an unofficial 1,073 Floor Burns 🔥 on the night. Every time a ball was headed to the floor one of the Ladies was diving for it.

#6 – Aza Petty and Callie Harris are simply Ballers and team leaders.

#5 – Raylee Goins is way tougher then she appears to be and then some !

#4 – Brooke Webb is getting healthier by the day and is looking more comfortable each day.

#3 – Ali Wright = Beast Mode all five sets.

#2 – Cindy Edwards got a strong effort from Volunteer Assistant Coach by promising him an Ice Cream cone if the team won 🏆

#1 reason – Coach Edwards is still miffed that I talked her into plopping Dakota Walls racing helmet ⛑️ on her head and is simply trying hard to get to 500 wins as fast as she can !

Salem – Here for the evening, possibly a slight delay in posting because of the response to our Stadium seat 💺 campaign. But the Bus 🚌 just pulled in so its official – Carroll County at Glenvar is going to happen, starting at 5:30!!!

Glenvar races out to an 11-0 lead, Coach Petty called a TO at 6-0 and again just now at 13-0. Home team has a dominant server that is causing issues.

6:13 – Glenvar closes out the match, 25-8. Our younger Ladies are still learning on the fly and tonight they ran into a buzz saw of a serve.

Great Night of Volleyball

The bottom photo in this set shows the Stadium 🏟 seating that was added decades ago at Rebel Park in New Market, Virginia. Its a community park that I volunteered at for roughly four years at a while back and it was a dream of ours to create a similar setting here at Cavalier Park.

Thanks to a team effort that included working with Top Shelf people like the pair in the photo ( Tammy Quesenberry and Chuck Thompson) ➕ the likes of Mr. Stephen Puckett, we are days away now from this becoming a reality !

One of the main focus points for us is to make sure that everyone that wants to be a part of something can join in. The beautiful part about the Stadium seating is our $15,000.00 jump started the process and through the partnership of many we have the cost for this upgrade covered.

The one thing that I reflected back on in regards to the scoreboard that we spearheaded was it didn’t present an opportunity for others to participate if they wanted to. It did introduce me to Stephen Puckett and his remarkable team in the Maintenance Department but no one had the opportunity to jump in.

Next photo 📷 above to focus on is the one with the Appalachian State University props in it. Last year they were trying to build something major and raised the funds by letting people purchase an actual Brick and then for an extra few bucks they send you a personal brick with the same identical verbiage.

Rick Nester and I are days away from having 34 Stadium seats 💺 in place and we are excited to the Moon and Back about it. Now we are going to now offer up the opportunity to others to join us by sponsoring a seat 💺 with EVERY penny going towards the Indoor Hitting Center.

$250.00 gets you or your company a Name Plate that will be attached to one of the seats so everyone will know that you helped build something that will serve our Youth for the next two generations.

It is very, very important to clarify that sponsoring one of the seats does not guarantee you that seat at a ball game, just guarantees that whoever is sitting in it will know that you Care !

There will be so much more on this and everything else we have planned for October 6th to follow but for now we want to focus on Inclusion !!

If most people don’t know about our #2 site, which is the one you are reading this on, it’s a safe bet than only a handful of local people are aware of our #3 site. The link above is from that site and I shared it with a Woman who I have not had the pleasure of meeting face 2 face yet.

I wish I could tell you that there’s a brilliant Master Plan in place here but that’s not reality. Even as I type this at 7:16 am on a Thursday morning 🌄 I have no idea how the day will play out other than my work responsibilities tonight.

Back to the Amazing young Lady who is standing next to her Son. His name in my World 🌎 is “Cody’s Little Buddy “. I am not afraid to admit that I dreaded the day that our paths would cross for the first time. That moment occurred last year when Mom 👩 was trying to see if anyone had a video of the Home Run that her Son had hit in a Cavalier Baseball game.

See, up to that point I had never typed a single word about Mason Crockett. For no other reason than I’m not trying to do anything but help others feel the Love that comes with the focal point of a High School campus.

Mason Crockett has dedicated his life to becoming the best version of himself and it shows. Anytime you run into someone that young with that level of commitment I automatically assume it has to do with great parenting.

I prepared myself for Angie Crockett to jump at the chance to say to me, “Where is Mine, why not Mason?”

Instead I received the kindness that can make a persons day. The message was simple but touched the Heart ❤, Thank You for what you are doing for our Community.

The third site is designed to be a place where a Photo 📷 can stand on its own with just a simple Tag Line. The old saying of a picture can be worth a Thousand words is the premise behind it.

We are all facing serious challenges everyday, life is not easy. Sometimes it can be overwhelming and people can use some encouragement to get through a tough day. When I shared the link with Mom 👩 she responded with a Heartfelt Thank You for making her day. Angie – please know that I was just returning the favor from the time that you made mine.

So, let’s tie 👔 this one up with a Catchy short phrase. Long time readers know that certain folks have clout here and Cody Reece is one of them so he had to approve the Nickname.

I remember the Day when I found out the Mother of Cody’s Little Buddy was a sweet Lady 👩 and I am privileged to almost know her. That belongs on a T-Shirt 👕, but No, not really.

Tomorrow night at 7pm on The Hill, I hope the stands are packed at Tommy Thompson Field !
