Our Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Volleyball 🏐 team went toe-to-toe with a Senior laden Marion squad, falling 3-1 (97-86 total points)

The Hill – Veteran Head Coach Cindy Edwards knew going into the season that her latest squad would have to play near perfect Volleyball to be successful due to being ” vertically challenged “.

Wednesday night πŸŒ™, with both Corrie Delp and Brooke Webb in street clothes due to injuries, Carroll County gave the visiting Lady Canes every thing they had before falling 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 19-25) in their season opener.

Marion High School was playing their fourth match of the season and presented a pair of big hitters and a great deal of experience.

Coach Edwards left the court feeling good about the efforts she received from her squad, top to bottom.

” I cannot be disappointed in our group tonight,” said Edwards, following the match. ” We played hard from start to finish.”

Eleven points was the final separation between the two squads as the battled just past two hours on the evening. Ali Wright landed a number of big swings and the team did an impressive job with the digs from every spot on the floor.

The team also minimized service errors in all four sets, something that will be a must all season long.

Carroll County will make their annual Saturday morning trek down to Patrick Henry – Glade Springs this weekend for matches 2,3 & 4 before returning home on September 10th to host Alleghany.

The match was played in the Auxiliary Gymnasium but the Lady Cavaliers will return to their normal diggs next week.

Velvet Creed Leonard captured one of the Lead Diggers (Volleyball 🏐 term) on the night – Callie Harris!
