Angela Goad by RachelleRasco8/5/2024

She made signs for many people on our hall to put on our doors for open house that showed what subjects we taught each block. Each one was personalized. For example, mine had a fingerprint on it. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know!

Pam Kennedy by Anissa Holland8/7/2024

She had already worked long hours(including the previous weekend) on all of the beginning of the school year responsibilities. When she found out schools would be closed, she stayed late and called all of the new students to make sure they knew that school wouldn’t start until Monday because she always cares so much about the students and about her co-workers as well. She knew that the new students would probably not get a school reach call.

Kim Robinson by Kristen Quesenberry8/12/2024

Kim stepped in to assist a colleague in need. Unfortunately, Mr. Frazier was not able to be at work on the first day of school, so Kim jumped into action and made sure she helped get plans together for the substitute!

Heather Sizemore by Kristen Quesenberry8/12/2024

Unfortunately, Mr. Frazier was not able to be at work on the first day of school. This was also Heather’s first day at CCHS, but she maintained a positive demeanor, provided practical assistance, and with the help of Kim Robinson, they were able to prepare plans for the substitute. With Heather’s display of teamwork, it is clear that she is going to fit in JUST FINE at CCHS!

Kim Robinson by Shannon Dalton8/12/2024

On the first day of school, a co-worker was affected by a family medical emergency and Kim jumped in immediately find his resources and make lesson plans for the week, getting everything squared away so a substitute could have a smooth week and the staff member could be with his family member without concern for his class at school. She did all this even though she needed to get ready for her own classes. She never hesitates to put others first.

Heather Sizemore by Shannon Dalton8/12/2024

On the first day of school, a co-worker was affected by a family medical emergency and Heather jumped in immediately to help another teacher make plans for the week so that she could help lead the class – even though this is her first week at our school and her first time in this subject area. She took a challenge in stride and jumped in to help her team.

Greg Bolen by Brittany Kinney8/6/2024

Mr. Bolen was such a huge help on this day when Lana was here. He helped me entertain her while I had important meetings. I’m forever grateful for how he treated my sweet girl like his own. Thank you, Greg!

Sheena Marshall by Jeff Farmer7/17/2024Sheena helped me get settled into the school and is a constant source of information.

Jessica Vaughn by Jeff Farmer8/5/2024

Jessica invited me to use her room and resources whenever I needed them. She has been a constant source of encouragement.

Kristen Quisenberry by Jeff Farmer8/7/2024

Kristen has gone above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to get the school year started off right. We worked through several hiccups along the way, but on the first day, everything was ready to go.

Curt Sumner bu Kevin DeHaven8/25/2024

Mr Sumner saw me looking for a part that fell off the mower at the football field. He was leaving church. He stopped to help look and then went to buy the piece that had fallen off. He could have kept driving by but he stopped.

Heather Sizemore by Gabby Coleman8/12/2024

Heather stepped up in a huge way to help Mr. Frazier in his absence. She is a brand new teacher and on top of her assignment, she took on the role of English teacher for the first several days of school. Heather went above and beyond to help both Mr. Frazier and his students.

S. Greer by C. Burcham 8/26/2024

This teacher has been doing a fantastic job in the weightroom. He is willing to allow other sports in the class, before school, and after school to become better athletes. He instructs athletes about proper technique and form and has established a class that many student athletes want to take.

Nathan Jones by Kristen Quesenberry8/16/2024

The hours Nathan works is WAY BEYOND what is expected. But he does it by choice in order to ensure the health and well-being of our athletes. He is at work early enough to tend to the needs of Zero Block students and as late as the last athlete leaving campus after a game/practice. He maintains trusting relationships with students and they respect him. His Sports Medicine Interns look and dress the part when working ballgames, in fact, it would be difficult for someone who is not familiar with the program to differentiate between a student intern and an actual trainer because of the high expectations he has for the students gaining experience. He is an asset to our school, our programs, and our community.

Shelli Owens by Shannon Dalton8/23/2024

Shelli gives her entire half hour before class each morning from 8-8:30 to talk with a student who seeks her out each day. She never has time for last minute copies or a chance to chat with other teachers, but she always makes this student feel welcome and graciously offers her time for conversation.

Heather Sizemore by Kimberly Robinson 8/12/2024

When Randall’s wife Michelle had a setback and he was not able to start the school year, Heather leaped in with both feet, helping to set up the classroom and organize the kids, and later planning for the week until Randall was able to get back. She has gone over and above, and it is her first year here.

Sybil Goad by Sarah Jo Jones8/26/2024

There is a freshman in last lunch that has got about four lunches everyday. He eats pretty much everything on his plate(s). However, he has not been paying for these lunches and has racked up a hefty debt. Even though they staff were not supposed to let him continue making any more charges, Sybil brought him a second tray anyway. All of our cafeteria staff go above and beyond to serve our students, but I was struck by her act of kindness.

Pam Kennedy by Stephanie Wright8/12/2024

Pam is always super kind to not only the students she works with but staff as well. She has a really kind soul and will go out of her way to make students and staff feel comfortable. I don’t really have a specific date in mind because she does things like that all the time! She is constantly checking up on us and asking about important things in our lives (or our children’s lives.) She will spend her own money to make sure the students here at CCHS have their basic needs met. I’m just so super blessed to be working with her!!

Sheena Marshall by Chuck Thompson8/26/2024

She is always willing to pitch in to help or solve problems!

Brittany Kinney by Sharon Hayden8/27/2024

Brittany has come into our wild world of self contained and has worked hard to understand all our uniqueness . She has learned we have to roll with the punches and back up and punt many times a day. She is doing this with grace and understanding.

Sheena Marshall by Lora Davidson8/26/2024

Sheena has made copies and taught Ms. Whitaker’s Geometry A classes while Ms. Whitaker has been out with her father.

Kim Kern by Lora Davidson8/26/2024

Kim has helped with lesson plans and making copies for Ms. Whitaker’s Geometry classes. She has also helped with the teaching 4th block.

Jeff Farmer by Lora Davidson8/29/2024

Jeff has volunteered to help teach Ms. Whitaker’s 4th block Geometry class.

Dina Reece by Lora Davidson8/27/2024

Dina has developed a service project for her Teacher Cadet class that involves freshening up our upstairs teacher’s lounge. This is much needed!

Kristen Quesenberry by Patricia Lineberry8/5/2024

What Mrs. Quesenberry has done was not just a one time thing. She has gone to great efforts to bring teachers and staff closer together, making sure no one feels isolated especially with the new addition to the school. She has planned monthly potlucks so we have an opportunity to get together outside of class. Mrs. Quesenberry is constantly checking on us to ensure we have everything we need as well as making it clear that we can come to her with any issues we have. She has been instrumental in implementing the kudos program, so it is only fitting she receive one!

Shana Parnell by Dina Reece8/27/2024

Every morning on hall duty, Ms. Parnell greets each student with hello and a compliment. Students flock to her. She makes them feel good about themselves.

Patricia Lineberry by Lisa Giles8/29/2024

Student had told Ms. Lineberry in passing on 8/28 that her birthday was the next day. Ms. Lineberry had assembled 4 of her chorus students to sing “Happy Birthday” to student as she was walking to class.

This warms the Heart ❀ as much as anything that we have tried to accomplish here over the past four years ! Kudos to both everyone who was acknowledged and everyone πŸ‘ that did the acknowledging !

Two groups will now receive $500.00 each to put to good use & our two chosen folks will have their photos πŸ“· sit atop every post πŸ“« we make for the next month – starting Tuesday when everyone returns to School 🏫!

Out of sight doesn’t mean out of the Heart – We β™₯ Forrest Johnson !

I want to borrow from the Preacher that wants to begin their sermon with a joke as an 🧊breaker.

Casey Burcham has never been to a single Softball game that I’ve announced over the years at Cavalier Park – what’s up with that Casey ? Do you hate Softball or something ?

Nothing could be further from the truth in that about Casey hating Softball, its that he hates me….

I am a HUGE fan of Cavalier Baseball ⚾️ and Bill Worrell Field ! Casey Burcham is a fan of Rick Nester and his program but we all have one thing in common – we play at the same time on the same days so its tricky for us to be in the same place at the same time.

Side note πŸ“ to our hard working Athletic Director, Kevin DeHaven. My idea πŸ’‘ is we have one day next Spring where we hold a Day / Night doubleheader. We play the opener at Cavalier Park and then everyone heads across the Boulevard to the Baseball diamond πŸ’Ž. In that order, because playing under the lights is still new North of the street.

Let’s take that now and address the level of respect that we have for our Boys Soccer ⚽️ Coach Forrest Johnson.

Adrienne Harris and Forrest Johnson

Here is the link to the Facebook post πŸ“« from Forrest Johnson after his group just finished their Youth Camp. I immediately shared it on Facebook but wanted to follow-up with something from the Heart ❀.

Johnson works as hard as anyone in Carroll County. Between teaching, coaching and being a Husband and Father of a young child, Coach doesn’t have a great deal of downtime.

Coach Johnson, you Sir, are loved and appreciated ❀. Keep up the great work and Please let us know if ever we can be of assistance.

Now that we’ve cleared up that Casey Burcham doesn’t hate us at Cavalier Park, maybe we can work on that Day – Night idea. One bonus would be that maybe πŸ‘€ Samantha Reed would cross the street because she doesn’t Hate us either, does she?

Forrest Johnson !

Let’s call πŸ“ž this one, It’s harder than it looks when it comes to guessing what someone actually cares ❀ about….

Every time I pickup my Android S9 to type out a story I have to ask myself who is my intended audience ???

This morning I was finishing up my overnight work responsibilities when my phone dinged and it was the Middle School 🏫 Volleyball 🏐 coach reaching out.

This was exciting to me because it meant we had reached another person who might be able to move the needle a smidgen. Now becomes the question – who will care ❀ that we now might be able to share some pics and thoughts about Middle School Volleyball 🏐 ? Thank You if you raised your hand βœ‹…

Will the parents know to look ? Can it lead to others getting the concept πŸ’‘?

When your “cause ” is humanity and kindness, people simply don’t flock to join up in part because its not what the “Cool Kids Do “. Its okay to stand up for what you believe in and you have to shake off the feeling of isolation at times. Chase what you believe and leave the rest in God’s Hands.

Every parent is proud of their Children and they work hard to provide for them. Everyone wants what’s best for their Children and this is how it should be. I had five Children along the way so I feel confident in typing that out.

Just to continue the thought process about trying to guess what folks care enough about to read, Lin and I are set to have a very busy yet very fun weekend.

Tomorrow afternoon on The Rock its Alumni Day and we are celebrating the naming of the Field – Dr. Jan C Watson Field and then we will play Towson in Field Hockey πŸ‘.

The second that the game is over we will zip across the Tar Heel State for the season opener of Duke University Football 🏈 (vs Elon). Kickoff is 7:30.

Saturday was set to be Volleyball 🏐 Day down at Glade Springs with the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers but that has been pushed back one week. Needing to fill the Volleyball 🏐 void, we will support our second favorite VB team as Duke hosts Kansas at 3pm inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Sunday morning πŸŒ„ its back over to Boone to announce more Field Hockey πŸ‘ as we (App State) welcome Georgetown. This will be followed by a check in on two other projects that are near and dear to us, one in North Carolina and one in South Carolina.

It would be easy to write ✍ 5,000 words on the weekend but once again, not sure who would enjoy reading it. I know that every part of the weekend is highly important to us but does that transfer over to others?

Here’s one more example of one that I would think would be a blast. I recently found out that Eddie Walls and Anthony Barnes raced stock cars πŸš— against each other. I find this fascinating and would love πŸ’˜ to spend some time discussing it with the both of them. Not sure where the level of interest would be ?

Going to sneak one more in before working on a story for Forrest Johnson –

The “concept πŸ’‘” is simple, I have been asked why I write ✍ about everything like its the 7th game of the World Series ?

Easy answer is – because it is for Someone !

This one won’t end up on Facebook because my target audience is the Bill Gallimore’s of the World. Folks that realize that the site exists and what it stands for.

Thank You all for being passenger’s on the Train πŸš† πŸ™ we like to call The Equality Express !

We welcome πŸ™ a new contributor to our efforts – Coach K!

Last night Travis Osborne cracked open the door for us in regards to the Middle School Volleyball 🏐 team and this morning πŸŒ„ we had a new face walk πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈthrough said door.

The biggest misconception in our efforts over the past four years is that I’m trying to attend every single event that takes place. The reality is that I am searching out Coaches and Parents that want to submit feel good stories about their efforts, especially the ones who would not get the attention otherwise.

With that out of the way, Welcome to Coach K –

” This years team is coached by myself, Charity Short AKA Coach K. and former 2023 Lady Cav team captain Sarah Alderman. It’s a fairly young team with only 1 true returning player. The is 3 others who are now on the team as 8th graders that were managers last year.

There is a whole lot talent in this group though and we both hope to help them sharpen their skill sets and continue to learn and grow throughout this season.

Starting off learning a 6-2 rotation can be tricky but so beneficial as this is what the Highschool level uses and we want to equip this program to continue to feed the upper level program for the future.”

We also received some more artwork from last night πŸŒ™ by way of the Coach. We don’t have proper photo credit to list yet but we will work on that as we go forward.

Coach K and assistant Coach Smile , thank you for your efforts with our youth ! Know that anything positive about your team that you would like to share, just let me know.
