Coaches Anthony Barnes, Kris Richardson and Greg Talley are about to watch our Jabin Talley head off to College !

Jabin and Greg Talley just hours ahead of loading the Truck 🚚 they are standing in front of to make the Trek over to Southwest Virginia Community College.

The Hill – Jabin Talley is heading out in the wee hours tomorrow morning πŸŒ„ and there are a number of folks that will be both sad and happy at the same time. Sad because the young man πŸ‘¨ will not be around on a day 2 day basis but excited about the next part of Life’s journey.

While Jabin is about to become the first Carroll County High School graduate πŸŽ“ to play College Tennis 🎾, when I asked the young man πŸ‘¨ what he will miss the most he answered by saying ” Being a part of Anthony Barnes Basketball program.”

When I tracked down Coach Barnes to see if he’d be able to share his thoughts on Jabin…

” Jabin Talley what an awesome young man, had the privilege to coach him in middle school and in High school. I nicknamed him Rooster πŸ“ in middle school for his pesky defense , he would get under their skin quickly.

He always played bigger than his stature and worked so hard in a tough crowd of guys to be # 1, in sprints, freethrows , or even 1 on 1. He knew his role and worked his tail off too start his senior year and give us some huge minutes and alot of time was unselfish and gave up shots for us too score for a magical season . He definitely left his mark in Tennis for years too come and I will never forget his firey attitude when it comes to winning and losing. Been a pleasure to coach and watch him be successful in multiple sports.”

Assistant Coach Kris Richardson wanted to share his thoughts as well.

“Jabin has always been a hard worker both in tennis and basketball. I have a lot of great memories of him through the years in basketball.

He has always been a great friend to Ethan, and his family feel like they are part of ours. I’m sure he will have continued success in tennis. I wish him the very best in college and in the future.”

The group that I liked to call the Jabin Talley Fan Club will be gathering one more time for the Big Move In Day. We are hoping for a safe moving day and that we will get a few pictures πŸ“· from the big day.

Jabin Talley wore our colors across four years and did so with a great deal of class. He departs with a diploma and the All-Time wins record and his future is in front of him.

Thank You Jabin, you will be missed!

Today I had the privilege of running into this pleasant Man πŸ‘¨ that we’ll call Alexis Dalton’s Dad..

One of my favorite things in Life is stumbling into what I like to call a OneofUs.Care moment. The #3 pillar to our platform is to create things that wouldn’t happen otherwise.

While I had zero to do with this project it makes me smile for two reasons – first, it helps beautify my favorite place in Carroll County, Cavalier Park. Second, it came about because some folks worked together for the Greater Good.

Mr. Keith Meredith and Kelly Hawks (Mother πŸ‘© to recent graduate πŸŽ“ Katherine Lindamood) both work for Sowers Construction 🚧 down in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Meredith for 35 years and Hawks is well into her second decade.

The High School 🏫 is going to net roughly 50 extra and much needed Parking Spaces and our Park gets just a little bit nicer.

There’s even good news for our new friend Casey Burcham! Mr. Meredith discovered a pot hole πŸ•³ by Bill Worrell Field the day of the Alumni Game and he has instructed his crew to make sure theirs enough asphalt left over to fill the hole before they head out.

Everytime that someone does something that they don’t have to or profit from, it warms the Heart !

The common thread between Coach Nester and myself is our desire to have Cavalier Park be the second nicest High School 🏫 facility in the Old Dominion ! We will concede that the Million Dollar πŸ’΅ turf field at Christiansburg High is out of our reach but we’re looking for every way possible to chase the Silver Medal !!

Thank You to everyone that had a hand βœ‹ in this, you helped our School and you helped our Pride & Joy !!

Thanks to Dakota Walls we made a new friend today over in Galax !

Robert is the shop keeper with all of the answers, including some that we didn’t know to ask. Very, very impressive young Man πŸ‘¨ and we found him thanks to Dakota Walls.

Looking to get something done for Little Ricky’s Pick-up truck 🚚, I reached out to Dakota Walls about who was the one that put the decals on his Race 🏁 Car πŸš—.

The same Race Car 🏎 that was the centerpiece to our recent Volleyball 🏐 Poster.

The fact that the customer service was so over the Top that it left me feeling down right giddy is the icing to the ultimate Cake πŸŽ‚.

The goal all along was to try and establish a team of people that were interested in being part of a quest to chase the Greater Good.

Getting involved with Dakota and Eddie Walls was an absolute reach for us. But the thought of encouraging a teenager to pursue his dream was too good to pass up. Having our Logo on the hood of the stock car πŸš— was cool but the end result is now for the second time the Walls have helped us in return !

Allen Worrell and Ron Cochran have created similar partnerships over the years. Finding someone Ike Robert is the next step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ in the pursuit and meeting him and his team today was a blessing πŸ™.

Photo πŸ“· of the Day belongs to Trace Reavis….pictured here with our hard working AD, Kevin DeHaven

Sometimes a High School 🏫 Student Athlete accomplishes something on a given day that a person simply cannot relate to.

Young Mr. Reavis played the River Course at Virginia Tech today and broke 80 !

For a non-golfer πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ that won’t mean a great deal and to a golfer, remember that’s not with one mulligan per nine holes and gimme putts.

I still remember the first time I broke 80 many a Moon πŸŒ™ ago and I promise you it wasn’t on a College level golf course in a competitive round of golf !

Comparable to Alyssa Ervin netting 40 or Ashlyn Newman scoring six goals in one match !

Kudos to our Trace Reavis !!! And to Kevin DeHaven for being cool enough to be in the Photo πŸ“·, (and for creating the Photo at a Volleyball match )…
