At approximately 8pm we experienced a OneofUs.Care moment on The Hill!

Never give up, they say. Good things come to those who wait, they say.

After spending almost four years trying to describe the three pillars that are the foundation of our organization the perfect storm created a magical moment.

1st part – Can we all be just a little bit nicer to each other ? It’s free and can do wonders. There was a great deal of kindness on display across the two hours working on the Photo 📷

2nd Part – If you have a skill set that can benefit others you should share it whenever possible…

Today I had the privilege of meeting Bowman Ayers. Bowman pitched in to our efforts by letting Velvet Creed Leonard stand in the back of his Pick-up truck 🚚 with her camera 📷 as she tried to frame up the shot while the Volleyball 🏐 team finished up their practice.

Here you see Velvet standing 🧍‍♂️ in the truck 🚚 bed belonging to Rick and Donna Nester. The Softball dynamic duo were more than happy to pitch in to help us to the Finish Line.

Dakota Walls is now a Freshman at Carroll County High School 🏫, or will be now on Monday. We joined his efforts this year by becoming one of his sponsors. Dakota was more than happy to slide over to the passenger side so that Coach Edwards could have the drivers side.

Here is Dakota in his natural position!

Mr & Mrs Eddie Walls both graduated 🎓 from CCHS back in the 1980’s. Their kindness ❤ through out this process was off the charts. When I offered Eddie to cover his expenses of hauling the 🏁🏎 over from Galax where its stored when not in use.

Eddie’s response was priceless – he said “We are all in this together”.

Velvet Creed Leonard and her daughter Laynie-Jo Leonard are two of a kind. Laynie-Jo was the one in our Mascot outfit and Mom 👩 has made herself available to me EVERY time I have reached out over the years.

Today was extra special in that we had planned on doing this Thursday until roughly 4pm today. We had to make a last second switch to get the capture before the Storm.

The original plan would have included the Junior Varsity in the Photo 📷 but that to had to be tweaked at the last minute. JV Coach Jason Petty allowed for this capture to take place so it can be part of our team Poster.

Marion Harris shares a moment with the Walls after the shoot.

The third leg is find a way to combine forces / team up, in hopes of creating something that doesn’t already exist.

Let’s not forget that our Volleyball Coach had to be willing to strap on the Racing helmet in order for this to all come together.

Our Athletic Director, Kevin DeHaven made sure we were all clear to get this done.

Cindy ” I feel a need for Speed” Edwards is closing in on crossing the Finish Line in her chase for 500 victories on The Hill !

Speed and defense will be a key 🔑 this season because we graduated a bunch of Big Hitters !

We hope to have our Poster ready for opening night 🌙

August 20th is just around the Corner and we hope you will join us in the Gymnasium that night !

Look closely at the list of names and you will notice that everyone that pitched in tonight have no actual connection to our Volleyball team. Yet they all combined their skill sets to create something special.

So now, if you wonder what it is that I’m chasing, look back on tonight !
