Velvet Leonard is a kind soul and that’s exactly what we needed in our effort to see if we could assist a Carroll County High School student in chasing his or her dreams.

Setting a budget of $500.00, Mrs. Leonard took the time to seek out exactly what a Professional photographer would believe to be the proper start up set of instruments an inspiring new Photographer would need. Carlie is a member of our Softball program so we are exposed (humor intended) to her kind heart ❤ and Love for life on a daily basis three months out of the year.

We will monitor the advancement closely 👀, in hopes of seeing this young Lady 👩 pursue her passion!

What would it look like going forward? Once or twice a year we would ask for recommendations from Teachers about Students that have shown an interest or sparkled in one area that could be greatly assisted with a small helping hand ✋.

That’s down the road, so for now we will watch this impressive Young Lady 👩 see if she can follow in the footsteps 👣 of folks like Velvet Leonard, Craig Worrell and Allen Worrell.

Magna Vista improved to 22-3 on Thursday night by defeating Bassett, 52-29. This creates a rematch of last years contest between the two schools 🏫 seperated by a few miles of US-58. This time around its #2 vs #3 and it won’t be taking place on The Hill.

While I am excited about the team getting to play inside an ACC arena like the one at Virginia Tech, I have to wonder if it gives up a little bit of home court advantage for the Cavaliers ? When you add in the 4:00 tip time it adds another degree of challenge for the Carroll County faithful to get inside the arena.

We know this, win one more and its back to the State Tournament.

6:51 – Ervin is fouled on her patterned spin move and connects on the first of two free throws.

3:55 (2) – Hits a wing 3-pointer to bring her to 1,998!

With 0:25.2 remaining on the first half clock ⏰ the ball dropped through the net after Ervin picked the pocket of the Cougar she was checking. The basket 🧺 not only took her up to 2,000 but it also stretched the shrinking lead back to eight, 31-23.

Ervin would go on to add 18 more points to her total (43, 2018) while leading her team to a hard fought 62-55 final against a team that simply wouldn’t quit.

Allen Worrell has your gamer but I will add that Carroll County now heads up to Cassell Coliseum for a 4pm tip on Thursday night 🌙.
