One night 🌙 after a thrilling come from behind victory over Radford, Carroll County Boys 👦 take a victory lap in 82-40 victory at Patrick County.

Carroll County (20-1, 11-1 Three Rivers District) closed out the conference portion of their schedule with a 82-40 road victory Thursday night at Patrick County.

The team hit the ground running, leading to consecutive 25 point quarters and a commanding 50-24 lead heading into halftime. All twelve Cavaliers saw action and nine players dented the score book, led by Davis Reitzel with a game high 24 points.

Head Coach Anthony Barnes was appreciative of how fast his team took care of business.

” Our guys come out right from the tip with energy and pressure, we shot phenomenal from the floor at 67%,” said Barnes. ” Another huge stat was our guys got 16 steals from them which gets us into our game which is transition and up the floor.”

Carroll County returns to The Hill Friday night to face Christiansburg in the Non-District season finale. The contest will conclude another three games in three days. The team will have until next Thursday to rest up as they will be the third contest on a Triple Header District showdown.

One night after breaking the 1,000 point barrier, Bryce Smoot added 13 more to his point total. Brayden Smoot scored one basket in each of the four quarters to finish with eight points. The offense was on pace to make a run at scoring 100 points but the offense slowed down in the fourth quarter.

Isaiah Easter continued his strong play finishing with 13 points while Ethan Richardson and Cody Reece both finished up with nine points.

Now that the District schedule is complete, Coach Barnes allowed himself to take a quick glance in the rear view window.

” We really took care of the basketball with only 6 turnovers for the night. We paced 3 guys in double digits with Reitzel 24pts 8 rebounds 6 assits,Bryce with 13,and Easter with another strong night attacking the rim with 11. So proud of the guys finishing 11-1 on a tough three rivers district, shout out too my coaches Richardson, Redd, Stockner and Largen with all the unforseen hours in this phenomenal year .”

The best part of the journey is that there’s no telling when the amazing ride will come to an end.

16:24, what can you accomplish in 16 minutes and 24 seconds ??

On a Good Day I can wake up and find the strength to brush my teeth in 16:24! You want to know what Alyssa Ervin can accomplish in that same amount of time? The 5’11 Senior can score 41 points in a Varsity basketball game. No one can watch every ballgame being played so a person say living in Roanoke looks at a box score from Carroll County’s 91-23 victory over Radford, notices Ervin finished with 41 points and would assume that Coach Marc Motley ran up the score by leaving his starters in too long.

The amount of floor time for Ervin shrinks even further when you take into account the game clock was running the entire second half. What kind of night was it for Ervin? The Cavaliers were leading 28-6 late in the first quarter when Ervin drained an NBA 3-Pointer and just for good measure beat the buzzer from 40 feet dropping another swish to close out the quarter with 24 points. Exactly one more point than the Cavaliers defense surrendered across the entirety of the game.

Each of the THREE, Three Rivers District Championship teams played their final District games tonight and swept the contests by a combined score of 216-77!!! Divided by 3 = 72 to 25.66 and I did that Math in my head!!!

We will now host a Triple Header on The Hill next Thursday with our newly crowned District Champions squaring off against the #2 team in their respective leagues.
