Today I had to be corrected by the Plucky Sidekick down on Main Street

I knew something was wrong when the call πŸ“ž came in for me to report to the office 🏒 of the Carroll News earlier today.

David was the bearer of the scolding as it turns out that after mispelling Alan’s first name (correctly spelled Allen) for a year, I was also guilty of pronouncing his last name incorrectly. I had spent many a moon πŸŒ™ watching Todd Worrell pitch for the St.Louis Cardinals and later the LA Dodgers. Todd’s last name was pronounced Wore-L in the midwest and West Coast so I assumed it was pronounced that way everywhere.

In a moment of weakness after David told me the correct way to say it was Whirl, I answered back no its not.

David had no choice but to take matters into his own hands. Thankfully he didn’t leave any visible markings…..

Of course that just a little Carroll News humor but know this, if I am not saying a name correctly PLEASE let me know. If no one tells me after the first time the situation won’t correct itself.

Same goes with a misspelling, there are a large number of names one goes through when they are trying hard to list every member of every team / organization.

 We welcome corrections !

One cannot just declare themselves the Champion of All Things Junior Varsity, sometimes you have to put forth effort !

Thursday night πŸŒ™ on The Hill we will be hosting a triple header of Basketball πŸ€ after three of our teams claimed their respective Three Rivers District Championship.

We know that the action starts at 5pm with the Junior Varsity Girls game and we are looking to create as much atmosphere for Head Coach Kayla Nester and her team as possible by the 5pm start time.

The group finished 17-4 and claimed the Top Spot in the league, allowing them to host the District Tourney Championship game.

In an effort to have fans sitting in their seats πŸ’Ί for the opening jump ball we have created a Door πŸšͺ Prize for the first 100 fans to enter the main door.

Bonus to the offer is that if you are from a visiting school 🏫 or just arriving early for the Varsity games, you can trade in your keepsake for a free bag πŸŽ’ of popcorn 🍿 at the Concession Stand.

Credit to creating the work with me goes to Mr. Ron Cochran. Ron can also be identified as CC’s Grandfather. While the photo πŸ“· was my own I have to give credit to Velvet Leonard as she had the young ladies lined up for her own pictures πŸ“·. I simply don’t get that photo otherwise.

Fans1-100 or until 4:55, whichever comes first. Parents of our players have no need to fret as two copies for each family have been set aside, one for the Parents and one for the Player.

We are very proud of this group of Student Athletes πŸ‘ and we welcome you to joining us on Thursday!

The 100 in the upper left is to Celebrate Coach Kayla Nester earning her 100th victory this season.

The 100 in the lower left represents the number of people that will be given one of these!

The 100 in the upper right corner is the percentage of how creative Ron and I can get and effort we give.

The 100 in the lower right corner is the percentage of effort these Ladies give their Coach every night πŸŒ™!

About Thursday Night πŸŒ™ and our Triple Header of Basketball πŸ€ on The Hill. Getting there early affords you the opportunity to cheer on this group of young Ladies.

Thursday night, our version of Night of Champions, is going to be challenging for a number of reasons.

There will be six teams playing basketball inside of a five hour window. Different opponents means different fan bases coming and going but we have the simplest of solutions for you – show up early and watch the opening act !

Thursday will be the end of the road for our JV Girls πŸ‘§, win or lose. The growth this team has shown from start to finish has been amazing πŸ‘ and now they get one more opportunity to play in front of their 🏑 fans on The Hill.

The team finished the regular season with a record of 17-4 and the Three Rivers District championship. Head Coach Kayla Nester earned her 100th career victory along the way. Kayla Young leads the offense and everyone plays end to end defense which leads to 28 minutes of High Energy.

Thursday night will be an event from start to finish as all three of our District πŸ†πŸ†πŸ† Champions will be on display. Five o’clock is a great time to be in your seats πŸ’Ί because you don’t want to miss the start of the show !

Let’s send off our Junior Varsity Girls πŸ‘§ in style !

Now, the highly anticipated Recap on tonight’s MACC meet as only Mrs. Dalton can provide !

MACC tonight at home against Graham High School.

Carroll won the toss and chose to be team A.

Avery Hart brought the fan section ready to “go to work” and win.

The Social Studies team was back in the win column tonight, beating perennial rival Graham by two questions 60-50.

Group #2 : All-Around

All-Around was up next, facing a difficult round of politics and current event questions. The round ended in a tie and went to the three question tie-breaker. The first two went unanswered, but Graham snagged the final question for the win. Final score 38-43.

(Shannon, please explain what leads to a -2)

Round – 3 (English)

English had their best match of the season, winning 63-25. Trenton Newman didn’t have to make weight tonight, but he did make waves in toss up.

Round #4 – Math ( listening to these questions and pretending to understand them was a challenge in itself)

Graham is also a top math team and the round stayed close until Davis Reitzel broke away with several points in toss up. Carroll wins 60-40.

Round #5 – Science :

Science got a bit of a shake up in the directed round, trailing for the first half of the match, but the Beasley/Wheatley team were able to scrape up the win, 60-55.

This group trailed 30-15 early before storming back.

Carroll finishes the night 4-1 over Graham.

Busy week next week with home matches on Tuesday and Thursday against George Wythe and Rural Retreat. Matches start at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Come join us!

Thank You Ma’am !!!

Busy, Busy night on The Hill ! MACC, CCAA and Kris Richardson holding court with his youngsters.

Six o’clock was the starting point for three different events. We will start with the easiest option first.

Coach was missing four of his young ladies and one participant from a different age group. Practice was scheduled from 6-7:30.

Next stop βœ‹ was the Library, because I thought that’s where I would find the MACC. The group that was holding court there was the Carroll County Athletic Association. I try to avoid writing ✍ about things that I am not qualified to speak on. It’s on my to do list to gain a further understanding of everything that this hard working group is responsible for.

Stop #3 of 3 - I’m not familiar enough with the inner workings of the High School facilities to say with clarity but I believe that we were possibly in the Cafeteria area.

More on the meet to follow !
