That’s a wrap from The Hill, more coverage from the 🏠🏚🏡

While our Girls 👧 Basketball team is very familiar with their opponent tonight (Pulaski County), its just the opposite for the Boys 👦 team. When that’s the case the Coaching staff has to depend on scouting reports and game footage.
Here’s what jumps out in regards to the visitors tonight, their starting front court stands at 6’3, 6’6 and 6’9. The team finished their season just one game over .500 with that front line size which leads one to a couple of conclusions. First, they must face some talented teams down in the Bristol area and second, there has to be some keys 🔑 to grounding the Falcons.
Head Coach Anthony Barnes is a master of game management and getting his team ready for the team in front of him. There’s one big question about tonight’s game plan, is Davis Reitzel going to be available after his knee injury last week ?
Reitzel at 6’3 has the ability to play well beyond his height and if he’s available it gives Coach one set of match-up plans but if he’s not then Barnes will have to become a bit more creative. One thing that is safe to say is that Isaiah Easter will be giving multiple inches to whomever he is guarding out there. The Sophomore will play a big role in the outcome tonight with his ability to get to the basket.
Cody Reece will step up from first man off the bench to starting Center if Reitzel is still out at game time. Reece has the ability to bang with the best of them but will need to outsmart the Falcons when it comes to rebounding position on both ends of the floor.
Bryce Smoot will be in charge of getting the pace set for Barnes and we know that Ethan Richardson, Jabin Talley and Brayden Smoot are all capable of getting up and down the floor. Speed will be a big part of our plans for success tonight.
The Cavaliers have faced some height before tonight but not this level of it. Barnes will have all the pieces in place for our team to succeed, now it will become about execution.
Tip is slated for 7pm but its easier to say roughly 20 minutes after the end of the Varsity Girls 👧 game.

The highly decorated flyer tells us about all of the Hoops that will be played this Thursday, Friday and Saturday up at Virginia Tech. It also tells us to bring cash 💸 with us if we want to get inside Cassell Coliseum.
Before we get to Thursday let’s take a look at what we know about tonight’s double header.
On the Girls 👧 side our opponent is a very familiar face. Pulaski County had quite the run in Girls Class 4 over the past few seasons before moving down to Class 3 this year. The Cougars and the Cavaliers played a home & home series again this season with CCHS sweeping the set. The margin of victory was 15 and 16 but both of those games were played months ago.
Carroll County (20-3) and Pulaski County (13-10) have enjoyed a great deal of success recently and both teams play hard from end to end. Pride is a term that will be on display tonight and while the deck is stacked in favor of the home team, Coach Marc Motley will have our group ready to play. Our youngsters have grown considerably since the teams faced each other and I would believe that theirs have as well.
Pulaski County used two very different strategies against the Cavaliers earlier. Game 1 was to hammer away at Ervin and make her sink free throws. Back at their place they played a more conventional defense, sending help whenever possible. They stayed within reach of us both times.
We do know that Alyssa Ervin, Katie Lam, Madison Lyons, Sarah Alderman and Amie Delp will be playing their final basketball 🏀 game of their careers on The Hill. Once the dust settles on the final record there’s a decent chance that it will be the greatest four year run 🏃♂️ in the history of the school. The group of Seniors that graduated 🎓 last season also posted some unbelievable numbers.
Teams have a Senior Night 🌙 and a final regular season home game. Sometimes there’s a District Championship game but tonight truly will be the last dance 💃 for our five seniors.
Ervin enters tonight 25 points shy of 2,000. Our 5’11 Senior would be the first member of the 2,000 point club here at CCHS. 50+ years of School history now so creating a new club stands out a little bit more.
The Banner up top tells us about Thursday afternoon but first things first, lets enjoy the sendoff game tonight for the Class of 2024!

5:30 !

We are entering the final week of the regular season and we open up at 🏡 with our neighbors from Wythe County. Thursday night is set aside for make up matches due to Postponements caused by weather and then next week is the Tournament!
The action 🎬 is set to begin at 6pm and the team looks to build on its momentum 💪.

Go Cavs !
