Last night π on The Hill Alyssa Ervin netted 36 points to lead Carroll County High School to the Three Rivers District Tourney Championship.
The Cavaliers defeated the visiting Buffaloπes 61-43, allowing Head Coach Marc Motley to double down with both Crowns π for the 2023-2024 season.
Shortly after the conclusion of the contest four Cavaliers were honored for their efforts π.
Madison Lyons was voted to the All-District Second team while both Ervin and Katie Lam were voted to the First team.
Coach Motley was named District Coach of the Year and Ervin was named the District Player of the Year.
The term back 2 back refers to a person or team accomplishing the same thing twice in a row. In the case of our 5’11 Senior, it gets a little tricky.
Ervin was named Three Rivers District Volleyball π Player of the Year and now the same for Basketball π so that’s one example of back 2 back but she also was the District Player of the Year in Basketball last season, so there’s another back 2 back!
There’s a number of backs involved as this young π© finishes up her High School career here at Carroll County.
It might be 10 years down the road before we fully understand the level of play we have been witnessing here the last four years. One thing we do know is that she will lace them up one final time on The Hill next Tuesday evening.
Any further post season games after that will be played at our locations, starting with Virginia Tech.
Craig Worrell and I were comparing notes recently on the Ervin scoring total and just how easily she could be chasing 2,500 right now, instead of 2,000.
The combination of Covid shortening a season and the amount of minutes lost to the fact that CCHS was so far ahead that Coach couldn’t leave her in the game.

This young Lady has put on a show that has lasted four years and we are fortunate that next Tuesday night π we will get to see her take a curtain call !
