Now, the highly anticipated Recap on tonight’s MACC meet as only Mrs. Dalton can provide !

MACC tonight at home against Graham High School.

Carroll won the toss and chose to be team A.

Avery Hart brought the fan section ready to “go to work” and win.

The Social Studies team was back in the win column tonight, beating perennial rival Graham by two questions 60-50.

Group #2 : All-Around

All-Around was up next, facing a difficult round of politics and current event questions. The round ended in a tie and went to the three question tie-breaker. The first two went unanswered, but Graham snagged the final question for the win. Final score 38-43.

(Shannon, please explain what leads to a -2)

Round – 3 (English)

English had their best match of the season, winning 63-25. Trenton Newman didn’t have to make weight tonight, but he did make waves in toss up.

Round #4 – Math ( listening to these questions and pretending to understand them was a challenge in itself)

Graham is also a top math team and the round stayed close until Davis Reitzel broke away with several points in toss up. Carroll wins 60-40.

Round #5 – Science :

Science got a bit of a shake up in the directed round, trailing for the first half of the match, but the Beasley/Wheatley team were able to scrape up the win, 60-55.

This group trailed 30-15 early before storming back.

Carroll finishes the night 4-1 over Graham.

Busy week next week with home matches on Tuesday and Thursday against George Wythe and Rural Retreat. Matches start at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Come join us!

Thank You Ma’am !!!

Busy, Busy night on The Hill ! MACC, CCAA and Kris Richardson holding court with his youngsters.

Six o’clock was the starting point for three different events. We will start with the easiest option first.

Coach was missing four of his young ladies and one participant from a different age group. Practice was scheduled from 6-7:30.

Next stop ✋ was the Library, because I thought that’s where I would find the MACC. The group that was holding court there was the Carroll County Athletic Association. I try to avoid writing ✍ about things that I am not qualified to speak on. It’s on my to do list to gain a further understanding of everything that this hard working group is responsible for.

Stop #3 of 3 - I’m not familiar enough with the inner workings of the High School facilities to say with clarity but I believe that we were possibly in the Cafeteria area.

More on the meet to follow !

MACC – Live for the night 🌙 but don’t worry we will still get to read Shannon Dalton’s recap later !

Photos 📷 will have to follow later as I have less than no internet down here.

Tonight we are hosting the Good Folks from Graham High School 🏫.

The match began at 6pm and the opening round concluded at 6:21 with Carroll County holding on for a 60-50 victory. Still learning about exactly how everything works but here’s what I think to be correct.

Direct Questions are at the beginning of each contest. 10 Questions go to each team and every correct answer is worth 5 points. If the team getting the question answers incorrectly then the opposing team gets the chance to “steal” the five points.

After the Direct Question round, the Coaches are allowed to sub players before the Toss-up round.

6:38 – we are finishing up the 10 Toss-up questions for the “All Around” category. Graham has an odd number on the scoreboard, 2 points deducted if you answer first and its incorrect.

*** Need to check into this, not positive on the minus points.

We now head into Overtime, tied at 38-38. Graham gets the victory by answering the third and final OT question.

6:44 – we head to the next round !

30 total questions per group, just a note 📝 to myself…

Round #3 – English :

Carroll County led 40-15 after the direct question portion and cruised to a 63-25 decision over the team from Graham.

Will keep at my fact finding mission until the competition is over. Please feel free to check back !

Round #4 – ” Math” (7:00- 7:25 )

7:28 – We have now moved on to Round #5 – ” Science”

7:39 – Match conclusion

Carroll County takes the final category (Science) after storming back from an early 30-15 deficit. The final score in Round #5, Carroll County 60, Graham 55.

Pictures 📷 🖨🖼 to add, notes 📝 to process and of course the recap of the night by our Shannon Dalton !

The bulk of the photos 📷 were attached to the 📫 about a Busy night 🌙 on The Hill.

Monday’s coverage will focus on the Teachers and Students that are part of the MACC here in Carroll County. They compete again tonight on The Hill at 6pm !

What do we know about the MACC ?

It’s one of two Academic teams that compete each year for CCHS. The Mountain Academic Competition Conference has 16 teams and is divided into two groups – East & West

Tonight we are hosting the good folks from Graham and the screen shot also shows you the other High Schools in our division ➕ our next scheduled match. The norm is to compete twice a week but the West has a bye later this week so tonight will be the teams lone match.

The artwork that Mr.Tickle and others create always look so spot on!

Mrs. Shannon Dalton is on point with this group of Teachers and Students and she will quickly tell you the names of everyone involved with the program because its a team effort.

While I am trying to run 🏃‍♂️ for the office of President of the Shannon Dalton Fan Club, I would like to use her efforts as an example of how someone can best take advantage of the platform we offer folks here with this site.

Mrs. Dalton knows that any and all information she sends me will end up on full display. There are a large number of groups that are part of what we do here in Carroll County that have a voice to sing the praises about what they are proud of and who all helps them accomplish their goals.

We have Singers, Dancers, Actors, Cheerleaders, Artists 🎨, FFA, FCA and just this morning I learned of another group, Future Business Leaders of America.

I’m sure that there are even more than I just listed and I’m equally sure that at the head of these groups is someone that is extremely proud of the groups efforts.

Greg Talley with his Tennis 🎾 program is another great example of someone that will create his own coverage and send it in because once Spring happens we split into so many different directions that its hard for anyone to get attention.

Coach Shawn Montgomery, who also happens to be a part of the Academics, takes full advantage in both the Fall and the Spring with his Cross Country and Track. Coach also knows that we are looking for every name, not just who did the best that day.

Vickie Ritchie is a master of creating her own message and in her spare time she is willing to proof read my stuff!

I cannot reach everyone out there, not for lack of trying. So, if you recognize a name on here please ask them about what is available to people.

Back to Mrs. Dalton, I am thinking about getting buttons made up for my Campaign and I’m open to suggestions.

 Tonight – 6pm on The Hill !
