By my count we have four more stories tonight so let’s get to it! Here’s Tonights Column before the Gamers.

Callie Harris is a go getter but I am not sure the young Lady had a choice in the matter. Born to Shelia and Marion Harris, Calle is the third of the Three Harris daughters and both of the older two are lifetime over achievers. When I have been fortunate enough to spend time around the Family 👪 its easy to see that both Natalie and Adrienne are more than happy to throw friendly shade at their Baby Sister.

Last night Callie was running around all over the basketball court. Her defense and rebounding were a sight to see from start to finish. But the first shot attempt from Callie missed its target and there was hesitation on her part to continue to take her next shot. Head Coach Marc Motley continued to shout out encouragement to his Sophomore guard 💂‍♂️, telling her to trust her shot. Pretty sure that most of us heard the encouragement and what followed was Priceless !

Callie netted three points in the first half on a 3-pointer that gave the Cavaliers a 10-4 lead. Rebounds and Steals were aplenty but just the one made Field Goal until something special happened midway through the third period.

Both teams were struggling to score in the early moments of the third quarter. The outcome was still in doubt at the half (32-21) and three minutes in Carroll County still had not scored at James River was back inside of single digits (32-23).

Harris had passed on a couple of good looks before launching a 3-pointer at 4:52 of the third quarter. The shot was released with some hesitation but it found its way 🏡.

Just under two minutes later Harris fired her next attempt with all the confidence of Michael Jordan. The type of shot that you are smiling about the second it leaves her hand ✋. Katie Lam watched those two shots find the bottom of the net and thought “That looks like fun”. Lam hit her fourth 3-pointer just after Harris’s pair and just like that the lead was 46-26. Game over, only the final score was still in doubt.

There would be one more 3-pointer from Harris in the fourth quarter(4:30) but I’m not sure she called Glass before launching that one…..

Harris finished with 12 points, a new career high and even more importantly, moved in the direction of being a player that the opponent has to guard. Teams cannot double and triple Alyssa Ervin as easily if Lam, Sarah Alderman and Callie Harris are all a threat to score.

 Congratulations 👏👏👏 Miss Harris!
