βOnce again CCHS π¦ Basketball π welcomed a Three Rivers District opponent to the Hill and proceeded to simply dismantle them.
Patrick County and Carroll County had not played this season due to the weather so knowone knew exactly what the match up would look like.
The Cavaliers hit the ground running πββοΈ and simply never slowed down. The team dropped a season high 29 points in the first eight minutes with five scorers contributing to that total. CCHS would go on to add 24 more in the second and another 24 in the third. The starters were pulled with 3:19 remaining in the third quarter with the lead at 73-31. Quick math says the second team closed out the game 16-11 over the final 11 minutes.

βTwo things of note π worth mentioning – Cody Reece was celebrating his Birthday π and was forced to listen πΆ to a highly off key π version of Happy Birthday while waiting to check in. Later, the student section also serenaded the Junior as well.
β#2 – Best line of the night π goes to Doug Reitzel. I leaned in to ask Mr. Reitzel how tall his son is and he replied he starts the night at 6’3 but his hair makes him taller as he plays.
βThe offense was playing at a level you Don’t see in High School basketball very often. Our guys π¦ were clicking on both ends of the floor for 32 minutes. The defense was swarming and the offense was flowing !
βFive players reached double figures, not a typo, five ! All 11 played and nine scored, led by Reitzel and his hair with 21. Bryce Smoot netted 17, Isaiah Easter 15, Birthday π Boy π¦ 13 and Ethan Richardson 11.
How did Coach Barnes see it….
” I challenged the guys to come out, just like we did against Floyd and take care of business, and we did just that, dominated the boards got in transition and set sail, even when we didn’t finish we cleaned it up on rebound. 5 guys in double figures only playing 2 1/2 quarters. Great minutes from Cody Reece again 13 points 12 rebounds, Ethan Richardson warming up at the right time and Bryce, Davis and Isiah complementing each other, huge night for both programs on a special night , with special past players and alumni, GO CAVS! On too the next one with pedal too the floor !”
βCarroll County has the inside track to claim the District regular season Title as we head down the home stretch of the regular season. Games at Radford and at Patrick County await the team that is just steam rolling down the tracks. All aboard the Cavalier Express !!!!!!
