โEach of the four Carroll County Basketball ๐ teams entered a three day event over the past two weeks and the Cavaliers combined to go an Amazing 10-2 in the twelve contests!
โThe formats were a little different, with the Varsity Girls ๐ง playing in a Round Robin event ( group of four teams with one game versus each opponent) down in Charleston, South Carolina while the other three squads competed in bracket events at Fort Chiswell High School ๐ซ in Max Meadows, Virginia.
โKayla Nester’s JV ๐ง team opened the stretch ahead of the rest and set the bar pretty high. The Cavaliers swept their three contests against area teams to capture their bracket!
โThe JV Boys ๐ฆcontinue to be lead by Head Coach Jason Stockner and Assistant Coach Ryan Largen. While the team came up just short in their finale against Pulaski County they closed the gap considerably against a talented Cougars team. Dane Leonard averaged double figures over the three days to lead the team.

Head Coach Marc Motley and his squad was placed in a talented bracket which included host First Baptist Church of Charleston. The Lady ๐ฉ Cavaliers played three consecutive hard fought contests, sweeping the set with a close out victory over Florida’s Orange ๐ Park. The finale was a showcase game for Elon signee Alyssa Ervin as the Senior broke the CCHS single game scoring record with 47 points and missed a Triple Double by one rebound !

Another one of the Ladies had a career high in the opening contest as Sophomore Callie Harris reached double figures (10 points) for the first time in her Varsity career.
โBack at the Fort, Head Coach Anthony Barnes and Assistant Coach Kris Richardson couldn’t stop smiling after watching their undefeated squad dismantle three straight opponents behind the play of Davis Reitzel and Bryce Smoot. Reitzel posted Kevin Durant type of numbers in the Championship game vs Narrows.
Both of the Varsity squads remain undefeated on the season as the Calender prepares to flip from 2023 over to 2024. Not sure if that has ever happened before in the History of Carroll County High School ? Pretty impressive Basketball ๐ being played by our Cavaliers !
โHopefully everyone ๐ that made the trek down to the Low Country has made it back home ๐ก safely now.
โEnjoy your Day today and rest up a bit as the Cavaliers will be competing on 21 of the 31 days in January !

Special Thank You ๐ to Greg Talley for all of his efforts this week !
โHave a Blessed Day and we will see you Next Year !

Go Cavs !
