One more look back at the evening that was on the Hill !

With this Ring πŸ’ I ……..

One never knows about the quality of an event, game, match until its over. Last night πŸŒ™ it was safe to assume that there would be Emotion in the Air as the Class of 2022-2023 returned home 🏑 for one more moment. Cordy (Chicago), Bella (East Tennessee), Ashton (Radford), Lauren (UVA-Wise) all returned from various distance to join up with Kaylee and Jaelyn.

The group of Six had it a little easier then the four young Ladies still wearing their Cavalier jerseys. Alyssa, Katie, Madison and Sarah had to both embrace the moment and immediately prepare to play an incredibly balanced Tiger πŸ… team.

Matching sets of acknowledgment for 10 young Ladies and their Staff to treasure forever !

Allen Worrell will have a Game Story available at the Carroll News so we can just highlight some moments from the 60-56 victory over Honaker.

The Cavaliers trailed twice in the game at 0-2 and later at 42-43. Let’s begin with the 42-43 score near the end of the third quarter. CCHS was trying to run down the clock ⏰ before taking a final shot just before the Buzzer. Honaker was determined to force a player other than Ervin to take the final shot, double teaming the Senior. Ervin just continued to step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ back and eventually launched from a distance that would have made Steph Curry blush. The ball found its way to the bottom of the basket 🧺 after the horn sounded to give Carroll County the lead back at 45-43.

Another sequence that stood out took place earlier in the third quarter. The Tigers πŸ… opened the second half on a 9-3 run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ to tie the score at 35-35. Katie Lam connects on one of her two made 3-pointers ahead of Ervin getting fouled on a drive to the basket. Ervin misses the Free Throw but grabs her own rebound to complete a four point possession. That seven point spurt was needed as the Tigers πŸ… poured in eight straight to briefly take their only lead of the second half.

Honaker trailed 59-56 after Lam converted her second free throw attempt with 0:18.6 remaining. The Tigers were looking for a game tying 3-pointer but a defensive shift forced a travel call ahead of a made two pointer.

The box πŸ“¦ score will show that Ervin carried the offensive load but the Cavaliers played solid team defense throughout πŸ‘ and it really paid off in that last possession.

Ervin would be fouled once more and the first made free throw made it 60-56 but the second attempt was waived off due to a lane violation. That point would have tied the School scoring record but the first one sealed a hard fought victory of a talented team.

Both Varsity squads will head into the Christmas πŸŽ„ break at 5-0. Not sure if that has ever happened ?

Thanks so much to all of the folks that contributed to our efforts last night and enjoy the Allen Worrell Game story !
