Doubling up – Today’s Carroll News Sports page & photos πŸ“· from Mrs.Smoot!

Today’s Sports page features 4 game stories and a Photo πŸ“· of a very large Deer 🦌. I had to stop βœ‹ and smile when I realized that all four of the stories were ones that I had posted on our site and Allen Worrell picked them up, made them shiny and next thing you know we have a Sports Page!

Thank You Mrs. Smoot and Allen Worrell ❀

Dennis Ward takes us behind the curtain of the 2023 Carroll Christmas πŸŽ„ Fund

Thank You to Trenton Miller for getting us in touch with Dennis & Diane.

The Carroll Christmas πŸŽ„ Fund originated back in 1997 which makes this years edition the 26th version of a program that tugs at ones heart ❀.

Thursday night at 6pm volunteers will gather at the Virginia Produce Company for the enormous task of sorting and boxing the Food, Toys and Bibles for 525 Families here in Carroll County. That number includes 468 children who will have a reason to smile on Christmas πŸŽ„.

Dennis was quick to try and list the number of folks, including the Virginia Produce Company (227 Industrial Park Drive) who graciously get involved. The warehouse space became a necessity once the project continued to grow.

Thanks to the Schools 🏫 for collecting the can goods, the Gideons for donating the Bibles and the Rescue Squads for assisting with the delivery of the Boxes are just a few on the list.

Dennis stated that the remaining cost from 2022 was $39,000.00 and that the donations stay within Carroll County.

There’s still plenty of time left to get involved this season, whether its by showing up at 6pm on Thursday or 8am on Saturday, when the actual deliveries take place. Hundreds of volunteers are already part of the process but there’s still room for more passengers on the train πŸš†. Others that wish to help with their check book versus their time are equally important for this to take place each Christmas πŸŽ„ season.

Please call the Dawn Auction Company office 🏒 at 276-728-9181 for more information !

We hope to have more on this event over the coming weeks.
