Sometimes in my writing ✍ I try to appear cleverly in trying to get a message out that can be consumed in under two minutes by the readers. This morning 🌄 as we get loaded up for Dublin I’m still awestruck in regards to everything I took in last night 🌙. The journey for things to be proud of in the area that we live had our paths cross for the very first time and all I can say is Wow 👏 Look what your team accomplished!

Everyone is on weight and getting prepared for the second day… L. Marshall, S. Collins, and F. Myers need to win 3 matches to medal. A. Myers is in the championship semifinals, needs two wins for gold! Mental toughness and conditioning are the keys to success for today! We are ready!

Having started my first Organization at the age of 16 I am fully aware that anytime you do something out of the goodness of your Heart ❤ that people are naturally skeptical about your intentions. It becomes even more important to have transparency once you go through the legal process of creating a Non-profit organization.

In regards to our efforts to capture what I deemed to be a Historical run involving our Girls 👧 Basketball 🏀 program I teamed up with one of our Daughters and Kris Richardson to create a Book 📖 to document the story. Little did we know that the process would last a year and that we would spend just over $10,000.00 to create it.

Once it was created it then had to be printed and we made the decision to take the extra step of having the copies for the players and Coaches become Hard Back versus paperback in hopes they would stand the test of time. This process took the cost per copy North of $40.00 per for their copies and just under $20.00 each for the paperback copies.

$4,000.00+ to the Printer brought the total to right at $15,000.00 in costs.

We then created a list of the 50 people that we were going to present 🎁 a Gifted Book to – the players, the coaches, Parents and anyone who contributed to the production.

The next step 🚶‍♂️ in the process was what I like to now call the Florida State clause – what about the 51st person that might want s copy of the Book 📖.

Again – there was to be selling of the Book 📖 at any point because one doesn’t sell a Gift to the Program.

This is the part of the story where two people that I consider Friends to our beliefs – Ron Cochran and Allen Worrell come into the picture. Both of these gentlemen have helped us with a number of projects over the past three years and we bought 50 copies of the Book 📖 for both of them to have at their locations for the public.

Omega Church and Office Supply and the Carroll News started out with the Books 📚 along with a well thought out plan. Both men would create a list of three Carroll County charities / organizations to choose from and have an option for a fourth one if the person getting their copy felt strongly about something not on the list.

Knowing that the Book cost just under $20 to make someone could receive one for a minimum donation of $20.00.

Special Olympics, AAU Basketball SPCA were some of the main choices but an individual could add their own.

Ron and Allen would then be in charge of getting the money 💰 raised to the proper folks.

Now for the Update – Ron is down to just one copy and this is exciting because it means that a minimum of $1,000.00 is about to be distributed!

Allen has just over 20 copies remaining and they will remain on hand until the end of the Holidays.

I have described the final product as being too nice and that’s because the amount of color photos 📷 inside is one of the reasons that it cost the amount that it did.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this because if a 1,000+ plus people weren’t aware of our site then it is safe to say that most of those weren’t aware of the Book that we aren’t selling.

The remaining Books 📚 come January 1st I will pick up and put to use in our continuing efforts.

Just because I have the space I will type out the second half of the plan that we shelved – create an 18 hole Disc 🕳 Golf course with one hole honoring each of the 13 players, 4 coaches and Kris Richardson. Charge a $5 fee for playing the course and all money 💰 raised would go towards High School fundraising.

A plaque would be placed on each tee box with the persons face on it. Television 📺 people would be forced to cover the grand opening because it would be the first of its kind and people would have to come play it once or twice to see what the fuss is all about then we could take the tourists money 💰 to fund our teams!

My 3rd shift work responsibilities are done now so there’s time for a nap before heading up to Dublin.

All four Carroll County High School 🏫 Basketball 🏀 teams will be in action today at Pulaski County in Dublin. Kayla Nester’s JV Girls 👧 get the action 🎬 started a Noon and then it will be Jason Stockner’s Junior Varsity Boys taking the court with 1:30 listed as an estimated Tip Time.

Up in Roanoke West Long has four Wrestlers still competing in the event at Hidden Valley High with the action set to get underway at 10:00

At 5:00 in Salem the Galax football 🏈 team plays in the State Championship game. Galax is coached by Varsity Basketball player Bailey Allen’s Dad. Best of Luck to Coach Allen!

Last but not least, 6pm in Hillsville our talented Chamber Choir and Cavalier Chorus perform once again. Their efforts are coordinated by Patricia Lineberry.

We will do our best to shine a light on as much of this as possible by the end of the day !
